  1. Got mine today too, was seriously baffled at first since I haven't ordered anything from SRC in months. My digital download code doesn't work though. =(
  2. They know that a lot of these are going to end up on eBay for way more than $10, or even $30. They have no way of ensuring these will end up in the hands of their fans who will actually want the music. I applaud the bands for taking the piss out of flippers and making a few bucks on these for themselves. I'm still going to try and snag one for myself, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it if I don't get one.
  3. Uh, no they're not... 4.1.e. Sound recordings, including incidental announcements of recordings andguides or scripts prepared solely for use with such recordings. Video recordings and player piano rolls are classified as sound recordings.
  4. Honestly, I hope they don't make another album. Give Up was absolutely perfect, but it's been so long that I would worry about their ability to recapture that magic. It's also been built up so much at this point that there's no way it could live up to the hype, even if it was ridiculously good. They should just leave Give Up as the band's legacy and put the group to bed - which I think Gibbard has attempted to do by stating on numerous occasions that there won't be any new music from The Postal Service. With all that said, if they did put out another album, I would absolutely buy the shit out of it.
  5. Stoked for the box set, thanks for the update! If I had to wager a guess, I'd say it'll be in the $200-300 range based on everything that's listed in the first post.
  6. Looks really nice, but at $50 each (or even $30 each), this Kickstarter won't be going anywhere. You can get 4 of these guys - http://recordsonwalls.com - shipped for the price of one of these RAR Frames.
  7. Pfft, they don't give a fuck about flippers. They could easily create unique discount codes if that was what they really cared about; could be as simple as using receipt/order numbers. Their margins on vinyl are probably not such that they can sell off their entire stock at a 50% discount every few months without losing money. That's what they care about. That said, I'm not too upset about this. I only really wanted Midtown and would have had to get something else in order to use any of the coupons.
  8. I get the impression that P+P works with bands on individual releases and doesn't really sign bands to multi-album contracts. So LAHF released Hobo's Lament through them, but could be self-releasing or working with another label on this new album. I could be wrong.
  9. I'm as stoked as I can be for this, after the mixed bag that was England Keep My Bones.
  10. Kickstarter-style fundraiser for LAHF's new album, which they are currently recording: http://www.larryandhisflask.com/fundraisers/fill-the-flask/ $25 gets the vinyl, a digital copy of a live show, and a patch - I went for it. Looks like it should be out in June.
  11. You know, a lot of those same criticisms could be leveled against http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/81872-po-nofx-xmas-has-been-xednew-years-revolution/page-2#entry1388894'>NOFX - Their sound hasn't changed much in the last 20 years, they rail against corporations while playing corporate venues, they rant about social issues, and they have a predominantly young audience that will one day laugh over the fact that they once liked the band (I know several of my friends are that way). And people still went apeshit over that $200 boxset they just put up and while that's a significantly better deal than Bacon, any self-respecting NOFX fan would have already had most of those albums in their collection. So a lot of the people who jumped on that boxset are re-buying albums they already have, which is something that's never really made a lot of sense to me. I actually love both bands - Both were pivotal during my early days of exploring punk rock and music in general. I'm just saying live and let live, dude. You don't like their music, that's one thing. But hating on a band because of the average age of their audience or what you perceive to be hypocrisy or the band's decision to put out a special release for their fans is pretty petty and nonsensical.
  12. Yeah, it's one thing for a band to fund an album before hitting the studio using Kickstarter, and another to ask their fans to bail them out of the mess they've made. Side note: Is this the band that got kinda dicked over by Paper + Plastick?
  13. Thankfully I checked on this from my phone while I was waiting to pick up my gf, and got one! So happy! Thanks for the heads up Justin!
  14. Yeah, that's honestly what got me hooked on TA. Their style was a bit abrasive for my taste, but their songs are all so short, they never had a chance to wear out their welcome with me. And now they're one of my favorite bands, so I'll check out everything they ever do, even if they start to suck (highly unlikely).
  15. Bummed I missed out on the blue/gold. Had to settle for an aqua. Oh well, I'm just excited to add this to my collection. Love both of these bands.
  16. I just sold my copy of The Format's B-Sides & Rarities for $102. http://goo.gl/26tqv Not too shabby for a CD I got for free.
  17. Got mine today - 185/500 - along with Mobilize, A New Kind Of Army, and The Bright Lights Of America. All for $40 shipped. Only way I could justify $15 for this silly thing.
  18. As long as it doesn't feel like they're doing it to squeeze more profit out of me, I don't care. My rough thresholds for that feeling are $1 variance for domestic and about $2 for international.
  19. As much as I want to buy this, I need to be in saving mode. Sucks.
  20. This seems like as good a place as any to ask this question: Does using compressed air to give a quick pre-play dust-off do any damage to a record? I've done it a couple of times, but not too much since I've never been sure of any damage I might be doing.
  21. I actually found Living Well to be better than Save The World when it first came out and thought FWYK was a huge letdown. Kinda crazy the difference a decade makes - Living Well is easily their "worst" album, but even Midtown's worst is better than most bands' best.
  22. Any chance some/all of that AOF stuff will be sold separately? I mostly just want Crisis. I'd love to have the whole box, but I don't know how much replay value I'd get out of everything else that I don't already have.
