  1. i like this thread. gaslight anthem reference springsteen. a lot.
  2. it's funny cause i think my Husker Du - zen arcade sounds pretty much the same as the cd, but my new day rising is definitely a bit higher.
  3. whereabouts in london is rough trade? i always go to sister ray and all ages
  4. I have recently noticed that on my current record player, I swear it plays all my records slightly higher in the pitch than the cd - it's not a huge difference..not even a semitone higher..but if i want to play my guitar along, i find i have to tune my guitar up ever so slightly. I assume this probably means I should get a better turntable, but the thing is..i kinda like the way some of my records sound with the pitch tuned up slightly..even though when i listen to the cd's it sounds better (though it takes a while to get used to)..i still kinda like the sound when it's tuned ever so slightly up. Anyone else ever had anything similar with their first record players? my turntable is a Bush MTT1 or 2
  5. nice to see fans of the Drum. did your Goosefair come with the fanzine? man, they were the nicest guys. always got me into their shows for free whenever they played in L.A. i've pretty much have all the releases on CD but i wish i had a more complete vinyl collection. all i have so far are Can't Stop These Things 7" Single Fall Into Place 10" Single Goosefair LP Last Chance 7" Single Pictures/Last Chance 7" Single Self Made Maniac LP Somewhere Else 7" Single Barrier e.p. US 12" e.p. Indeed it did! Nice little collection there..the stuff's pretty easy to find, well, off of musicstack and such. China Drum are notable for me, as they are a band I own the most vinyl of..but I don't even have a CD or an mp3 of them on my computer
  6. Here's me little China Drum collection...got two more coming in the post.
  7. Bottles is awesome. The Way Back Home is good too as well, good chorus.
  8. oh, and hud of the dead..you're the hud from you, me and the atom bomb i assume? i'm will from hung up, we played with you guys last month at the rifle club
  9. just got leatherface - mush for $140...awesome.
  10. Strung Out - Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues This album taught me how to write melodies for punk rock songs, nowadays I'm not really that impressed by the second half of this album (i used to claim that every song on this was five star), but still..nothing takes away from the majority of the songs on here. Firecracker, Better Days, SOLITAIREEEEE, Never Good Enough, Bring Out Your Dead, Radio Suicide. Some of the best punk rock from the 90's. Sounds great on vinyl I think. Leatherface - Mush If Strung Out taught me how to write more expansive vocal melodies to punk music, it was Leatherface who reminded me how to write SONGS again. Oh yes, the oh so overlooked aspect of music in the punk world. The song. And this learning curve is all fairly recent! But Mush is one of the best punk albums ever. I Want the Moon is probably my favourite punk single from the 90's. Frankie Stubb's vocals and guitar playing. Excellent. I Want the Moon, Not Superstitious, Not a Day Goes By, How Lonely, Dead Industrial Atmosphere!!! Can't get enough of it. Husker Du - Zen Arcade The only concept album I've ever loved.
  11. I'll post a picture of my China Drum collection in a bit, it's far from complete, but it's the most records I have by a band.
  12. china drum - goosefair LP china drum - stop it all adding up 7" (blue) china drum - somewhere else 7" (red) china drum - fiction of life 7" (blue) china drum - can't stop these things 7" china drum - last chance 7" leatherface - discography 2 i like china drum, the 7 inches are on their way I guess
  13. Losers Kings and Things We Don't Understand on Orange Leatherface - Little White God Sugar - If I Can't Change Your Mind 12" single (this is a crock of shite, I expected the B-sides would be interesting, so will be selling this soon hopefully)
  14. What is the subject matter? These are off the Leatherface split right? I think Where We Belong was written by Chuck about his girlfriend/wife, and they're not together no more.. Chuck writes something about the meaning of the song in the Live at the Hardback liner nites.
  15. Everyone says Minx is recorded poorly, usually to Frankie's face..unbeknownst to the fact that he produced it. I quite like the production actually. I'd love Mush on vinyl..I'll have to settle for my I Want the Moon 7'' for now
  16. Yeah, Mush is pretty much the only way to get into this band. Tis not considered a classic for no reason
  17. Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited (stereo) Good Riddance - Decoy EP Husker Du - Zen Arcade
