It's like the chillest record I've heard in like 5 years.
Really like it. More than I thought I would too, to be honest.
You can tell he moved to California.

Fuck yeah. So psyched for tomorrow.
Went with the wife tonight and sat in the balcony and it was great. Going with some buds tomorrow, and I'm not driving, gonna try and get a good spot on the floor and get a little loose.

Definitely go to Euclid. I would also go to Domino Sound, at least. They have a little of everything. It's pretty fairly priced too.

    What are you looking for?

Euclid definitely is the spot for 45's. There's tens of thousands.
Domino Sound has a great selection of 45's, specifically a good of amount of local stuff.
Louisiana Music Factory doesn't have a lot of 45's, but they have a lot of local music. Mostly  CD - issued stuff, but a good selection of records.

If you're looking for anything else, hit me up. I may have it.

Can't wait to be in NOLA in April and do some digging for some classic funk gems.
I'm privy to Euclid, but are there any other record shops I should check out?
Also if y'all aren't hip to this Betty Harris comp that came out last year, get on it.
Basically every track is backed by The Meters and produced by Allen Toussaint.
    Ridiculous.

Love End of an Ear, have a pin from there on my bag.
Waterloo is okay, but I'll probably skip it when I'm in town again in April.
Just saw that the Austin location of Friends of Sound closed. Too bad, I never made it there.
Might have to try and hit Antones. Never been there either and it looks cool.
God I fucking love that city so much.

Would much rather just have a 2xLP of those B-Sides.
I would never listen to this if I bought it.

Big fan, seen them a bunch. One of the best live bands ever.
Have a handful of their records, but none were crazy limited or anything to my knowledge.

    WarHen Records
WarHen is a one-man, DIY/word-of-mouth Virginia label that's been releasing records since 2012. So far I've put out 16 records, and have two more scheduled for this year.
I release whatever I want, so in theory there should be something for everyone .
LPs, 7"s, lathes, t-shirts, hats, tote bags. Trying to make room for some new stuff in 2017.
Some records are sold out, a bunch aren't. Some releases have cool screen printed covers, hand-stamped labels, etc...

People who like heavier/psychier/pop punkier type stuff will enjoy Left & Right, Zack Mexico, Dwight Howard Johnson.
Indie fans will like New Boss, Dead Professional, Borrowed Beams of Light.
Alt Country/Americana fans will like Dexateens, Wrinkle Neck Mules

    Thanks for looking & listening.

Don't think there is a band more in need of reissuing their back catalog.
The Nixon reissue was a nice treat, but I'd love Thriller, Aw C'mon/No You C'mon, How I Quit Smoking, OH (ohio), Is A Woman, etc etc etc

Also I enjoyed Mr. M for what it was, which, to me, was a poignant and touching tribute to Vic Chesnutt, Kurt's best friend.
Band is at the top of my list of bands I need to see that I haven't had the opportunity to yet.

    Band is fucking amazing.
I'm going out on the road with them as their tour manager in the fall. Dates are coming very soon, but it starts on 10/14 and will go through mid-November. Leg 2 will start after the new year. 10/23 in LA w/ Bon Iver and Patti Smith is the only announced date so far.
Ordered the deluxe vinyl immediately to get the bonus LP, but they sent me the files for Heart Like A Levee and it is a really beautiful album. Can't wait to hear it on wax. If you liked Lateness (shit, if you have liked ANY Hiss records), you will enjoy this one. Probably the best one yet.

Um, so this thread is the bomb. Glad it was bumped, never seen it before.
Big Soul guy here. Slowly picking up more and more stuff here and there.
For old school, Sam Cooke is probably my favorite. Love anything Staple Singers-related (Pops, Mavis, etc..). Love Eddie Hinton. Love James Brown/JBs/Fred Wesley/etc.. Love Funkadelic a lot as well. Super cosmic.
Syl Johnson is a huge one for me as well. Dude rules hard if you're unfamiliar.
Been really into soul comps a lot lately. Everyone should check out the Eccentric Soul series from The Numero Group. Lots of amazing gems with stellar information, artwork, photography, packaging. That whole label is amazing. In addition to the Eccentric Soul series, they also have a bunch of other series' as well - Good God!, Cult Cargo, Local Customs, tons of other great reissues. lots of incredible stuff on there, and plenty of non-soul/funk stuff as well. Really wonderful label that has taken a LOT of my money in the past year or two.
Tramp Records is another hot spot for tons of great forgotten funk gems. SO much great, gritty funk on there. Would order more stuff from them if they weren't located in Germany, but I hop on the Bandcamp page frequently just to stream.
Also the Souvenirs of the Soul Clap comps from Jonathan Toubin via Norton Records are super sick.

And man, Somethingvinyl, that track you posted above... That comp is nasty! Giving it a listen on Youtube right now and am digging the hell out of it. Thanks for the share.
