  1. Ok, so here's the deal, I took this picture while going for a late night walk. I immediately thought of the Family Guy firetruck joke ("A solitary killer, the firetruck stalks its prey"), I guess because the church tower pops up behind some trees.

So I recorded a voiceover (bare with me, English is not my native language) for it as well, and made a video clip of it. My question is: Is this funny, or just childish and stupid? (Personally I'm torn). Thought I'd ask here (where no one knows me :D) before I post it on my facebook and make a potential ass out of myself.

(Oh, and the last sentence in the video is "The atheists will have to wait their turn")

  2. Well, if the guy wanted change, it seems he got it. Maybe not the kind of change he wanted though:

In my city of Stavanger, police estimate that close to 100.000 took to the streets today, armed to the teeth with flowers and candles, in remembrance of the victims. To put it into context, the population of Stavanger is 120.000(!). (Granted, there must've been quite a few people coming in from neighboring towns). These are scenes that has never been seen before. And it's the same story in just about every single city in Norway today. In Oslo, approximately 200.000 gathered.

    Some pictures from Stavanger: http://www.rogalandsavis.no/bilder/article5681717.ece

And even for a cold-hearted Norwegian as myself, I'm pretty much speechless.

  3. They just interviewed an expert on Norwegian criminal law on TV, and he said that there acutally is the possibility to extend a 21 year sentence (and at least in theory to keep him for life), but that an extension will not be considered before he's (almost) done serving his original sentence.

  4. I'm afraid we're looking at 21 years maximum. Our system doesn't work in a way that we can sentence him per victim.

But as one guy said, the worst possible sentence would probably be an immediate release from custody...

  5. I don't think that the police will start carrying more firearms (and I certainly don't hope so), because this incident is one that would've been difficult to prevent anyway (One guy plotting this in his own home, seemingly without involving anyone else). And more importantly, this attack is not a sign of a heightened threat level to our country; it's the result of one man's lunacy. Right-wing extremism is on the decline, it was actually far worse in the 80s and 90s. Extremists like these are also not well organized/unified, so as a group, they really do not pose a big threat to us.

Our prime minister has made it clear that as a nation we will respond to this attack with even more openness in our political landscape, and that this will not silence us. Though I think that the access we as citizens has had to our politicial leaders may very well from now on be more limited, as I would think that security around them (and the buildings which contain their offices) will increase.

  6. Yeah, this is now the worst massacre performed by one single person in newer history. Needless to say, we're a nation in shock right now. When I went to bed last night the combined death toll was 17. When I woke up today, it was 91. (I believe it is now at 92) That actually made me physically sick to my stomach. And most of these were kids that actually gave a shit about our society...

And Norway is one of the safest places you can imagine. Police are in most cases not armed, as they are only allowed to use guns in the most extreme situations. Our political leaders walk the streets like regular people. We're a free and transparent society, so that makes it even more unreal that something like this actually happened here. God damnit.

  7. When I first heard about this, I laughed it off, and thought it was a really bizarre idea. But apparently, and to everyone's surprise, this has turned into one of the biggest TV successes of all time in Norway:

Not to mention that thousands and thousands of people are greeting the ship as it makes its stops along the way. And I have to admit, I've been watching quite a bit of it myself...even though I still think it's a bizarre idea!

So for lovers of slow-pace TV, enjoy: http://nrk.no/hurtigruten/?lang=en

  8. In other parts of the world people protest and riot for their basic human rights. In Canada they riot when a fucking sports team lose a match. I say put all these assholes on a plane and drop 'em off in Libya.

Sometimes I just lose complete faith in human kind...

On a lighter note though, that picture of the couple kissing on the street IS awesome!

  9. "Had a small case of the masterpiece that is a woman Salami! Clouds mistaken for dildos on Twitter!"

"Don't really know why Bon Jovi was pretty. Had a lot of facial hair for dildos on TV."

"Best headline ever? Bon Jovi was in the dog. So awesome. "

"My body sucks. It won't go to buy a rather good looking Scottish person on Twitter!"
