I brought it up in the other thread that was locked, and see no point in starting the conversation again because you guys are gonna support him not matter what and that's fine.
 
But, it's not only against the law (whether or not you care about this law in particular is irrelevant here) for him to MAKE the record with songs he doesn't have licensing rights to, it's also illegal for the composers/artists to ACCEPT PAYMENT for a pressing that is unlicensed.
 
I looked it up before and I'm not going to bother now, but like the guy that did the Pokemon MIDIs is something like a 20 year employee of Nintendo. You think that guy is going to risk his fuckin' job to take a couple hundos from some dude pressing bootlegs under Nintendo's nose? C'mon man, let's please be reasonable haha.

Hey dumbshit, don't go making assumptions about other users when you know nothing.  I've been a Bowie fan all my life so don't say vaguely.  Second, yeah I like having the variant, it's an OCD thing and when I can get the variant for the same price I rather do that and I don't feel like paying premium for a standard black when it can drop in price any time.  
 
 
 
 
I only made an exception because I found a decent deal for the variant, I would have bought it from a record store if I could.  The Bowie store was ridiculously expensive for a clear but if I could get the clear for a 1$ more than I'm okay with that.  

And with art, we all interpret it in different ways. On this occasion, I personally find what I have been sent to be unacceptable based upon what was originally advertised to me... We all have our opinion on it, but it doesn't make me, you or anyone else right or wrong, and just because others have differing thoughts to me, I'm not going to start being abusive to them and calling them names.
I apologise to everyone if it was annoying for me to ask a question such as this, but as you can see i'm pretty new to the forum so obviously I had no idea that this had been brought up previously, and, if it was really that annoying for you, why did you take so much time to reply over and over again? So what you're basically saying is that if an item (whatever it may be) is marked / coloured etc. differently to what was advertised at the time of purchase, that is OK? Personally, I don't find that acceptable, but hey that's just my opinion. Obviously how the record plays is most important, but I do still care a lot about how my vinyl collection looks... Fair enough, personal preference obviously, but if I've paid X amount for something that I worked hard to buy, I have a limit of what I can write off as an acceptable amount of damage and defects.

They have blue/black and regular black on the Amazon Marketplace right now too, without the markup for blue/black and cheaper shipping to the US than in their store.

Already have an OG. However, I do like this reissue because they differentiated this release from the original. The OG has an etching on side D. I wish reissues would seek to be a little different from the originals. This would help maintain the "specialness" of an original yet still get the music back on wax.
Not sure if it's dropped yet but I wasn;t wild about the Sigur Ros Takk reissue cause its the exact same as the oringal down to the bonus 10. Same thing with the MM lonesome crowded reissue in that I wish they had kept the two separate LP jackets exclusive to the orginal.
Anyway, I purchased a copy even though I have the extra songs on 45s already. Gotta keep my UC collection complete!

No offense to anyone but the variant game has always seemed useless to me. I see no use of storing a back-up copy as I don't plan on ruining any of the LPs on the shelf. Granted no one does but during my years I've only had one record ruined due to leaving it unattended for the cat to DJ. Learned from that mistake and won't make it twice.
 
The true rationalist in me has trouble justififying buying all this 'unecessary' plastic to begin with so variant collecting to me would simply be insane. Plus, with the length of my wantlist, I imagine it would take 5-7 years to amass half of what's on there. Don't even want to think how long it would take if I were to collect variants as well. When you can barely afford to have a single copy of everything you're looking for, why go for variants?
 
I can have a look at other variants online if I ever feel the need to but I only truly 'need' one copy spin and appreciate an album. I'd still like to consider myself more of an appreciator of music than a 'collector' but in all reality when some stuff two-three years old is already just sitting there you start questioning the necessity of getting it in the first place.
 
Personally I go for discographies myself but I have a serious problem with preferring coloured (if there is any) over black and always choose the variant that works best with the artwork and/or vibe I get from the album. Even then, I can definitely sense the collector impulse taking away from appreciating the music when an unfortunate black LP somehow lands in my possession and I immediately feel the need to hunt down the one matching the artwork and get rid of the black one. Feels quite idiotic really.
 
I try to instill into myself the (very true) notion that I am very lucky to be able to collect my favourite music in physical form in the first place, which is enough to quiet the insane collector in me.
