Even with that description and Lucier reference, I don't know who really expected this. I just don't think they have the artistic credibility to justify a blind left turn on their fans like this. It's not like we've followed them down a road of twists and turns to get here. I've spent tons of money supporting this band in all ways and am feeling duped. And most of the records I buy are experimental/ambient/drone/etc.! It's not the point, but I don't see these holding any value give the list price and pressing quantity either. But I'm keeping it since I'm sure no one else wants it!

PO NOW: Future Islands - As Long As You Are
TPH976 replied to darkeyelids's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I like the upbeat ones too but I feel there's more for them to explore with the slower stuff. Actually liking this quite a bit after a few listens, more than I thought after hearing the singles. Sam's singing seems different this time around, a little more nuanced. -

PO SOON : Sunn O))) - Life Metal (04/26)
TPH976 replied to archiced's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I think I read there'd be a preorder this Friday, 4/19. In the meantime, Rough Trade has copies of their RSD stock online: https://roughtrade.com/us/music/sunn-o-life-metal , which I assume are black. -

Maybe a Secretly Society exclusive? Thought that about the new Ryley Walker too. -

Awesome song, best band. It's great that the Loser Edition is on black too. Kinda bummed about the cover art, though - love Froberg's illustrations.- 43 replies

Secretly Store just released a "VERY limited" amount of the Blue Japanese version. -
PO NOW: Ducktails - Jersey Devil
TPH976 replied to joshman150's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Not a fan of this dude. Had a brief run in with him once (he was a dick), and he fucked me and a bunch of people over with a Kickstarter years back. New Ducktails stuff is mediocre at best - terrible lyrics, not much guitar. His playing in Real Estate was great, so it's a bummer. -

Got my deluxe w slipmat today and it's totally black vinyl. Nice heavyweight copy, but calling this color vinyl is beyond a stretch. I would think these are mistakes. -

Nothing - Tired of Tomorrow

Book seems cool, haven't gone through it much yet. I was a bit disappointed with the "print" that was included as it's really just a folded up poster. Not really suitable for framing with the creases, but it's a nice photo. I guess it was free after all. -
BEACH SLANG - A LOUD BASH OF TEENAGE FEELINGS
TPH976 replied to LIGMA_BALLZ's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I actually think this is a better record than the first LP. I gave that one a few listens and it never stuck. This one did the first time through. -
PO: Merchandise - A Corpse Wired For Sound LP from 4AD
TPH976 replied to jhulud's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Didn't get any artwork but inside the package with the LP was some guy's Dollar Shave Club package, still sealed in a mailer, with a pack of 4 razors. Definitely a first. I had to look at it a few times to be sure it wasn't some weird version of the art piece... but no, it was just an unopened pack of razors. Haha. -
I think the long-form tracks from the last 2 records are my favorites, and they've doubled-down on those with TGM. I really love it, lots more to unpack. Killer record. This lineup and these records will become legendary, so see them on this tour if you can.

PO NOW: Andy Stott - Too Many Voices (April 22)
TPH976 replied to rooks's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I got mine from Boomkat a couple of days ago and it's definitely more of a translucent pink... closer to clear than pink. That pic makes it look orange but I think we're talking about the same thing here. Awesome record either way. -
SO excited for this. These 2 singles are straight fire. She's great in an electronic setting like this - loved the record she did with Hercules & Love Affair (although this seems a lot more experimental).
