  1. I posted in the Recently Viewings thread about my thoughts on Green Room:. So far, it may be my movie of the year.  I loved both Mrder Party and Blue Ruin, so I had high hopes and it definitely delivered.  Every single part of the cast was phenomenal, especially Patrick Stewat (which is to be expected); the soundtrack brought up the edginess in the viewing and the script was phenomenal. 9-9.5/10.

Tonight I watched The Invitation and it was also a fantastic watch.  If you dig slow burns like Red State or The Sacrament, you should definitely put this on your watch list; solid 8/10.

  2. I thought the new song was great. Regarding the difference in vocals, Mark is doing the bulk of the vocals in the track; whereas Skiba is merely harmonizing in the chorus, which I could pick out. About the grown ups writing about being 17, I don't have any issue with this. I'm 32 and I still occasionally throw in a line about adolescence into a song here and there. It's a really important coming of age time in life and it's easy to look back at how easy things were then versus being a grown ass man. I'm pretty stoked on a new Blink record.

  3. It's a great question, and also a tough one to answer.  I'll weigh in with personal examples of my thoughts on this.  There have been numerous bands/musicians that I've played with in the past, that were just terrible people, and I was no longer able to support their music due to this.  For instance, prior to playing with him, I was a fan of Joshua Radin; however, after playing a show and him doing a number of questionable, crummy, and rude things, I couldn't bring myself to listen to his music any longer.  Though I wasn't a fan of He is Legend, I was certain after playing with them that I would not support their material.  If someone is an asshole, I don't want to put money in their pockets.  I loved Mark Kozelek, but after all of his tirades and bouts of self-entitlement, I can't even listen to him anymore.

  4. I really want to like this.  Musically, it's really solid, it has a great Americana vibe with great production that doesn't seem overdone or forced; however, the lyrics are incredibly cliched, tell stories without closure and don't seem to flow with the overall melody or tone of each song.  Again, I really want to like this, a lot, and I'm hoping giving it a listen from beginning to end will sway this opinion; but so far, I'm definitely not sold.

  5. Watched The Night Before with mediocre expectations, based on my dislike of This is the End; so I wasn't let down by how not funny it was.  There were a few moments that were hilarious enough that made watching this bearable, and I really dig the cast; though not terribly funny overall.

  6. Lots of new horror flicks watched over the last week or so.

The Green Inferno- I'm not sure why I continue to subject myself to Eli Roth's body of work; I suppose I'm still hoping for something as fantastic as Cabin Fever to come out.  Overall, just another group of people lost amongst savages flick with poor character development, poor dialogue and a poor sense of awareness of how tired and stale it is.  I definitely don't recommend.

Southbound- If you dig anthology horror (V/H/S, Trick r' Treat), you would probably dig this.  I'm not super huge into said genre, because you don't have enough time to develop a relationship with the characters.  Southbound had a few decent moments; but overall, it just seemed a bit bland.

The Purge: Anarchy- I've always loved the premise of the original Purge, though don't like the delivery.  Some really great tense moments, but still falls a bit short.

Nina Forever- By far, one of the most original concepts for a horror flick.  Again, the delivery falls a bit short and I wouldn't really recommend a viewing unless you're also intrigued with the premise.

Deadpool- Yeah, I'm gonna lump this into the genre, based solely on the fact that the antagonist declares it a horror movie and the immense amount of violence.  I'm sure that anyone that has seen this fully endorses it, based on the 8.8 IMDB rating it's received.  I want to watch this 100 times.

Just started the Martyrs remake about 5 minutes ago.  I didn't dig the original, but I'm running out of horror to watch.

  7. My friends are going through the same situation at the moment.  Just be there for your friend; I highly doubt he is looking for negative comments regarding the ex, probably just looking for someone to talk to and keep him company while he's at a low point.  Just keep your thoughts on her to yourself, unless he really wants to know.  Chances are, he just needs a really good distraction.  That's where I'm at right now; where I know our mutual friends have nothing ill to say about the gal, but I still want to be around people just to keep my mind at bay.

  8. Watched Room tonight. Holy shit. So sad. So goddamn sad and powerful. If Brie Larson doesn't win at the academy awards I will be pissed, especially if dumb Jennifer Lawrence beats her out for that piece of shit Joy. And the fact that the little kid wasn't nominated is sheer robbery.

Was going to watch the End of the Tour tonight but I can't take any more sadness tonight. Tomorrow it is.

Definitely watch End of the Tour, Segel is just amazing in it.  I loathe Eisenberg, but damn did he deliver.

  9. I just finished The End of the Tour, and it may be my favorite film of 2015.  I've definitely been a fan of Jason Segel, via How I Met Your Mother, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, etc.; but this is a game changer.  This movie was phenomenal and I hope everyone watches it and pretends not to have tears in their eyes in the end.

  10. You're absolutely right, about everything. I just wish I would have made a change sooner to avoid all of this heartache. I've layed it all out there and she still wants to end it. Again, I do t blame her. I'm just hoping that with some distance and space, maybe there will be some sense of clarity that washes over her and reminds her of how good we can be. I know it may be a long shot, but hope will help me sleep at night, after ruining things with the most amazing person I've ever known.
