  1. yup! Philly quartet NOTHING unveil their tribute to NIRVANA's "Something In The Way" via Noisey/Vice: http://noisey.vice.com/blog/nothing-nirvana-something-in-the-way-cover Instead of their trademark whitewash of guitar layers, NOTHING opts for a starker approach to the somber classic, with piano and vibrant vocals up front in Will Yip's beautiful mix. The track is found on Robotic Empire's Whatever Nevermind tribute to NIRVANA's breakout album, which sees Nevermind covered in full and set for release on April 18th (Record Store Day) on both vinyl, and digitally. Digital pre-orders of the album are up now, with "Something In The Way" available immediately: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/whatever-nevermind-tribute/id973746631 https://roboticempire.bandcamp.com/album/whatever-nevermind
  2. We are extremely stoked to announce our second tribute to Nirvana, this time with their breakout Nevermind album being covered in full by a diverse range of bands. The new tribute LP, titled Whatever Nevermind, is being released April 18th in conjunction with Record Store Day 2015, and sees diverse contributions from Boris, Cave In, Circa Survive, Kylesa, La Dispute, Nothing, Pygmy Lush, Thou, Torche, Touche Amore, White Reaper, Wrong and Young Widows. The lineup assembled for Whatever Nevermind has some of our favorite active bands running Nirvana's classics through their own creative filters. What they've come up with is a great merging of individual style with a nod to the influence of 'grunge'. Nirvana clearly doesn't need further accolade; they've been inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, are known by most music fans on the planet, and are one of the all-time greats. That being said, Nirvana helped shape our tastes and of countless musicians we respect, and to pay even a slight homage to them in return is a privilege. Working with the amazing range of talents involved here, including several return contributors from the first tribute LP, is an absolute honor, and we can't wait for people to hear the results. Circa Survive's take on 'Drain You' premieres today via Alternative Press and can be heard here: http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/circa_survive_cover_nirvanas_drain_you_exclusive On their method of tackling the project, Brendan from Circa Survive says: "There are different ways to approach covering a band. For us, doing a Nirvana song takes us back to a very raw place that we were in when we were young and just falling in love with music. We didn't want to say 'here's what this song would've sounded like if Circa wrote it'. It was way more fun for us to live in their energy and pay homage to their influence by just rocking the shit out of it and keeping it raw." The vinyl edition of Whatever Nevermind is being released as a 12" + bonus 7" combined, with artwork inspired by and mutated from the original album, and includes a high-quality digital download. Record Store Day 2015 will see an exclusive color-vinyl edition accompanied by a large poster, akin to the 2014 RSD release of In Utero: In Tribute. The tribute will also be available April 18th to download/stream from all digital outlets, with digital pre-orders now available from iTunes including immediate availability of Circa Survive's cover of 'Drain You': https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/whatever-nevermind-tribute/id973746631 Last year's In Utero: In Tribute vinyl sold out on release day, the digital version received a spotlight on the iTunes storefront and received coverage across high-profile media including Alternative Press, SPIN and The Guardian. As Robotic Empire's 100th release, "In Utero: In Tribute" concluded an oft-rumored, elusive 7-year project. Just one year later, the catalog number for followup homage "Whatever Nevermind" appropriately lands at Robo 116, as the label celebrates its 16th year of existence with this release. We couldn't be more proud and excited to present this to you! "Whatever Nevermind" Young Widows - Smells Like Teen Spirit Torche - In Bloom Kylesa - Come As You Are Cave In - Breed Boris - Lithium La Dispute - Polly White Reaper - Territorial Pissings Circa Survive - Drain You Touche Amore - Lounge Act Wrong - Stay Away Pygmy Lush - On A Plain Nothing - Something In The Way Thou - Endless, Nameless / Even In His Youth (Bonus Tracks)

  6. Stereogum says Wrong "bring a fearsome riff-crunch that recalls ’90s pigfuck pugilists like Helmet and Prong. The band’s members did time in bands like Capsule, Torche, and Kylesa, and their debut EP Stop Giving will land imminently, and its first single is a hellacious trudge..." 7. Ghost Cult Magazine is premiering the new Terminal Fuzz Terror jam, 'Cycles' off the Vol 0: In The Shadow Of The Mountain album we're dropping just a week from now! Quote the ghosts: "The track is a pure slab of psychedelic rock, inspired by the masters of the genre, blotter acid firmly between tongue and cheek." 8. WRONG has been given a nice lil' writeup via Noisey / Vice: ...we've got a little something here that'll scratch your alt-metal/noise rock itch rather nicely, right in the comfort of your own (hopefully heated) home. Meet Wrong, a Miami outfit with impeccable credentials and a firm handle on the art of the bludgeoning groove. Read the full shebang and stream the tune "Call It" over at http://noisey.vice.com/blog/wrong-song-stream-2015

  10. Pretty righteous quote from The Obelisk on TERMINAL FUZZ TERROR, for those who missed the "Megalodon" song premiere over there: Opener “Senseless Boogie” would seem to tell the whole tale, but in truth it’s only part of the story, and whether it’s the funtime freakout of “Zealousy” or the psych-punk thrust of centerpiece “Megalodon,” the four-piece of guitarist/vocalists D. Rodriguez and D. Nelson, bassist J. Kleine and drummer A. Crawshaw hone a chaotic swirl that feels like it could at any point fly off the handle entirely. Likewise the repeated echoing incantations of “Cycles,” which seems to call Satan not so much to spread misery and hellishness over terminal fuzz terror vol. 0 in the shadow of the mountainthe earth, but rather to crack a beer and mess around with effects pedals, and of course “In the Shadow of the Mountain,” the monolithic semi-title-track is a focal point — at just a little less than half the 36-minute runtime, there’s no way it wouldn’t be — but rather than get lost in their own grandiosity, Terminal Fuzz Terror turn plod into ritual before warping into one last high-speed wah-drenched jam, paying off what’s come before, sure, but also breathing life into a form of space rock that’s more than Hawkwind idolatry and flange overload. Read the rest of the review and stream the tune over here: http://theobelisk.net/obelisk/2015/02/16/terminal-fuzz-terror-megalodon-stream/
  11. dunno if it's formal/official or not, maybe just hiatus? Colin lives on the other side of the country now so, hard for them to be active I'd guess.
  12. Things have finally calmed down here at Robo HQ after the insane activity from several ISIS vinyl reissues. Happy to haveOceanic, Panopticon and In The Absence Of Truth out there and reasonably widespread again, we're now ready to introduce you to two new bands joining the Robo roster by launching two new preorders! TERMINAL FUZZ TERROR are a Seattle-based band consisting of D. Rodriguez (guitar, vocals), D. Nelson (guitar, vocals), A. Crawshaw (drums) and J. Kleine (bass). Drummer Crawshaw also runs the Seattle based screen printing monolith Broken Press, who screened all printwork for TFT's hand assembled, limited release. Their vinyl debut, Vol 0: In The Shadow Of The Mountain, was recorded at Witch Ape Studio, engineered and mixed by Tad Doyle (of TAD) and mastered by James Plotkin. TFT unleash a raw fury of rock n' roll drifted through the filters of punk, psychedelia and blues. Pummeling percussion and wailing riffs accompany a vocal delivery that channels an obliterated Jim Morrison at the height of religious revelry! The magnanimous 17-minute title track B-side closes out Vol 0: In The Shadow Of The Mountain with a long form, slow burning mind melter. You can sample for yourself by previewing "Megalodon" now via http://theobelisk.net'>The Obelisk. Housed in a silk screened jacket limited to 300 copies, this is a thing of beauty and includes a high-quality digital download, massive poster and insert. 50 special deluxe versions of the record include an embroidered 4" round patch and come packaged in a screen printed tote bag (a very limited amount are available for mailorder from us). We've also got some badass t-shirts for TFT, printed on cozy ass Anvil Ringspun shirts - hit that up too for some new digs. Available on March 3rd, Vol 0: In The Shadow Of The Mountain pre-orders are up now and expected to ship around Feb. 27th. * VINYL pre-orders via Robotic Empire's Online Store * DOWNLOAD pre-orders via iTunes or Bandcamp On the other side of the heavy spectrum, for the folks who've been wondering what the CAPSULE dudes have been up to, we're beyond stoked to introduce you to WRONG! Comprised of Eric Hernandez on guitars / vocals, brother Brian Hernandez on drums, Andres Ascanio on the bass and Ryan Haft on guitars, Miami, Florida's WRONG debut with an absolutely pummeling four-track EP titled Stop Giving. With an emphasis on bludgeon and groove, it's hard not to compare their first recordings to heyday-era HELMET; but WRONG deliver their own dissonance, atmosphere and attitude in a massive combination of power and skill. An indication of things to come, Stop Giving preludes a full-length due on Robotic Empire later this year. The Stop Giving EP vinyl plays at 45rpm, is limited to 300 copies, and comes in silk screened packaging with artwork by TORCHE's Rick Smith, printed at Seattle's Broken Press. Self-recorded and mixed in Summer 2014 at Pinecrust studios in Miami, FL by Ryan Haft, the EP was mastered by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance. Including a high quality digital download, you can listen to "Call It" now on our https://roboticempire.bandcamp.com/album/wrong-stop-giving-ep'>Bandcamp page. 15. It's been an absolutely berzerker holiday season, but no rest for the restless as we're STRAIGHT back into it #2015 style... into the beastmode, here we go: ISIS (the band) vinyl repress madness continues with Panopticon now getting the royal treatment, remastered audio, revamped printwork and all! This is the first full-length we ever worked with the band on, almost 10-years ago to the date (!), and it feels great to have it in print and available all these years later. This time around the ante has been upped with Mika Jussila of Finnvox Studios' brilliant audio remastering, who was also responsible for the recent Oceanic remastering as well (previously erroneously credited by us to James Plotkin, who also does great work). Aaron Turner's iconic layout has also received a tune-up, with uncoated printed-innersleeves housed within a super high-gloss, tip-on heavyweight gatefold jacket. 2000 copies of this beautiful latest pressing were made: 200 on clear/translucent blue, 500 on clear/translucent orange and 1300 on black vinyl. Panopticon is in-house now and available to order from the http://www.roboticempire.com/store'>Robotic Empire - Online Store. In case you missed the memo(s), we also recently re-pressed ISIS classics Oceanic and In The Absence Of Truth, both as 2xLPs as well. 16. Wow! We got flooded in Holiday / ISIS orders and are a bit behind schedule as a result. That being said, we are chugging through everyone's orders as quickly as we can. We appreciate your patience as we get through this mountain of mailorder. Our operation is humble, and very thankful for all the interest and orders. Everyone be safe out there. Big ups & Jah bless!
  17. Mailorder madness is fully underway here now. Full disclosure: we got SLAMMED by this one AND are partially buried in a snowstorm, so some folks should receive their orders before the holidays, but some may not. That being said, we're going full-bore here and packing/shipping everything as quickly as we can. Your patience is appreciated as we chug through this mountain of orders. If you're late to the game, all of ISIS' "Oceanic" color vinyl is now sold out but we do still have copies of both "Oceanic" and "In The Absence Of Truth" on black vinyl, and some ITAOT on Clear/Red vinyl remains as well: http://www.roboticempire.com/store Thank you & be safe out there !
