I’m so jealous of the people who get to see Nadja do the live soundtrack to Stalker next week. Best movie ever made.

I'm especially excited for the Rachel Davies track - if you peeps haven't listened to Esben and the Witch. . . do yourself a favour! 😍

New Nadja CD/CS coming out in a few months

Four extended tracks of atmospheric doom sludge, each with a different guest vocalist: Alan Dubin (Gnaw, Khanate), Rachel Davies (Esben & The Witch), Lane Shi Otayonii (Elizabeth Colour Wheel), & Dylan Walker (Full of Hell).

I already got mine today from Napalm US.  For labels who don't like to deal with "Where's my record?" this is the way to do it. Order a number you know you will sell through, get them in, see what color they actually are, announce one week ahead of time. Get orders and ship out within 2 to 3 days.
I got the Gold, and it's about as "gold" as the solid gold gets - way up from the puke green of Station (or yellow and orange from other releases).
45 RPM - the production will please bass lovers, no thinness here. I'm only 1 time through with the reworked tracks - I have never seen them live, but watched many a youtube video, so the changes or 'reworkings' don't seem that drastic. Since they are top 10 or at least top 20 postrock for me, this is a pleasing addition.

Revolver dropped theirs from $41 to $40. Now it's a bargain.

Truth be told, I’ve been able to avoid it this entire time – and may keep that streak alive if there is a repress in the works – but from what I’ve read and what I understand, it’s just a budget approach to save money and (arguably more importantly these days,) time.  Instead of waiting for the exact order of colored pellets to achieve the desired variant, the plants are able to just sweep excess pellets from unrelated vinyl presses, and make them work in this “eco”[nomic] variant.  This isn’t an entirely new thing though; you surely remember those “mystery color” presses that ended up being a marbled sludge / brown?  They were big in the mid-late 00s but I haven’t seen them in a minute.  They’re notorious for sounding like butt.  Some of these eco presses resemble those, visually, but it seems like there is maybe a little more attention and though given into lumping certain pellets together… because we are seeing a variety of colors come out of it.  Not just a slew of grey putty marble garbage.
But of the releases featuring this eco option, I haven’t read a single review that gushes about quality.  A lot of complaining (par for the course) and some comments that insist their copy is passable or acceptable.  Which… when these things were like $40 to import, nah.  I’m gonna’ want a little more than that.
I am sure someone out there has an eco press that turned out stunning, or maybe one that’s mostly clear and sounds phenomenal or something.  But it’s too much of a dice roll and I’d hate to wind up with something that is going to look whack and sound less than desirable.  So I’ve been avoiding them as a rule of thumb.
That’s super annoying.  If you get a chance to spin it, I’d be very curious to hear what you think of the quality on yours.

I think Hundred Year Old Man just released one of the best post-metal albums in years "Sleep In Light".

Dark, beautiful and crushing 80min journey. FFO: Cult Of Luna, Oceanic-era Isis. Colored vinyl at Consouling store or Bandcamp.

For me this came out of nowhere. I think I had never heard of this band before.

Man.  You guys need to go to Dunk!.  Like, holy crap.

Bruit....  Hubris... Year of No Light... Of the Vine... OUTLANDER!!!!!!!!

I can't stress how good Outlander was.  If you think they are great on record, they absolutely utterly DESTROY on stage.  Their setlist was Threadbare, Return, Sinking, Sundowning.  3 Valium tracks ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Like, fuck dude.  It's so doable too!  It's in Ghent now, so you just fly into Brussels, take ONE TRAIN, and then you're there.  You get off at Gent - St. Pieters station, and take the tram for 10 mins into the center of the city, and you are 5 mins walking from everything.  It's so ridiculously easy.  I am not rich, and I don't make a ton of money, and we were able to do it again this year.  You guys can do this.  You need to.

please come see the magic once before you die

Not sure if this belongs here or in the Shoegaze thread or in the Sludge/Doom thread, but I’m putting it here because I think it’s where I heard of the album, but I got a Bandcamp message that a new vinyl pressing of Palehorse/Palerider’s “Burial Songs” is going up on Friday. Looks like it will be on Bandcamp. Not sure how many are being pressed.

Grivo were opening for Slow Crush on their tour on my date. I wasn't expecting much from their merch table but lit the fuck up when I saw Elude. I'd try hitting them up because I've spent more time than I'm willing to admit looking for a copy online and it just doesn't exist.

You can still get vinyl $19 and cassette $8 from Holodeck. Elude is just gloomy perfection. Never thought I would like something like it, but it's very visceral for me. I had the vinyl and picked up a couple cassettes at their show with Slow Crush (and Twin Drugs for @mrewestjeje) right before the pandemic.

That's really nice. I never tire of that sound. It can even drift into the doom & metal / psych arena and I'm down for it.
