Just purchased a singer stereophonic transistorized phonograph. Has two mini speakers that plugin and detach. Stacking features, and has the option to run automatically but I'm afraid that's a bust. My problem here is the man said he had just replaced the needle but it still skips across the surface. Also the tonearm won't reach past the 4th song of any full 12" I haven't tested any 45"s yet but I was thinking it was some sort of spring in the tonearm that doesn't allow it to reach that far? Now imagine not being able to hear any last songs on your records need your help Also if anyone has a manual for this thing that'd be great

I'm trying to replace the needle on my Crosley Executive, and I don't know the difference between the NP1 needle or the NP6 needle. Which one should I get? They both have diamond tips. Or should I even get those ones? It's my first time replacing the needle and I don't know what to get. Thanks everyone

Not sure how many people on this forum play this game but it is incredibly fun and I would highly recommend it to anyone with a good sense of humor. With that said lets get to the main point of this thread, the "Holiday Bullshit 2014 Puzzle" For anyone familiar with CAH you should know about the Holiday Bullshit, but for people unfamiliar basically last year on Christmas they had a promotion of sorts where for $15 you would get 12 gift filled envelopes mailed to your house throughout December all bearing gifts. Underlying these gifts on the envelopes were clues to a massive complex puzzle that took about 2 months before a team of people on the internet were finally able to break apart and solve the puzzle resulting in a prize. This year they are doing the same thing but calling it 10 days or whatever of Kwanzaa featuring 10 envelopes (gifts) and a puzzle that they claim to be muuuuch harder than last years to solve. So basically I have signed up and received a couple gifts already and am looking for a team to help me attempt to solve this mega puzzle and maybe we can all win the prize. Obviously it will be much easier for people who are also receiving the "Holiday Bullshit" as they have the physical copies of the envelopes and gifts and would have an easier time looking for clues, but anyone who wants to try and help solve this is more than welcome! It is too late to sign up for the Holiday Bullshit itself at this point but I would be happy to post pictures or links to the contents and envelopes received each day if this is the case for any people. I think this would be a lot of fun though and I'm sure everyone who participates would have a great time!! Hi, I recently acquired a sabbath bloody sabbath vinyl from a relative. I have done some research and not too sure what to believe. I have a gate fold copy of sabbath bloody sabbath. The matrix numbers are ACB00166 1Y and 2Y on the back. The previous matrix numbers (which most are familiar with) WWA 005 have been scratched out on both sides. Sources have led me to believe this is due to a change in production as they switched to Phillips WEA, thus the need to cross the old matrix numbers out was vital. No where on the entire album sleeve, or vinyl does it mention Rick Wakeman also. I have been led to believe this is an extremely early copy of the album, and are wondering what your thoughts are?

So I went to the flea market recently and for 10 bucks I could not pass up this ugly/pretty pink Symphonic Model 1159. The guy said it turned, and that was enough for me. So I ran inside to hit up the atm and came back and paid the guy. Took it home, plugged it in, and much to the dismay of my ears, horrible scraping sounds and just general noise, the thing turned. One needle seems to be intact (there's another that flips over?) and the other is trash. I stuck one of my 33's on it that came with it.......drumroll...... no music. I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm 16 and I've never owned one of these before. I mean my uncle has a solid 1000 records and an extremely nice player, but I don't have to figure anything out, just put on some Allman Brothers or Canned Heat, maybe Doobie Brothers, and drop the needle. But classic rock and records have always been something I've wanted to have. I collect Intellivision stuff primarily, but these might overtake that pursuit. If anyone can assist me at all, either to help me get it going, or just to maybe advise me otherwise, I just want to play my records. I won an ebay auction of 36 records so I'll have plenty to play. If I were to buy another turntable (or put money into this one), I don't want to put a whole lot into anything, maybe 50 bucks at most, though even that's pushing it. I'm not looking for audiophile quality obviously, I just want to hear some Traffic and Best of ZZTop. So what is a common problem? Is it like wiring, the tubes on the speakers? What? Any ideas off the bat? I've tried to look this particular model up and I haven't found anything. All I know is it's a symphonic model 1159 and it plays 16's, 33's, 45's and 78's. Not age, function, or origins of manufacture. Oh, and the arm doesn't want to move in all the way. It barely reaches the platter and doesn't go farther. I unscrewed part of the thing and pulled it up to see all of the wires and stuff going on and I took some pictures, though I am trying to figure out if I can put them up without using photobucket. If that's the only way I'll post them in a little bit. Thanks ahead of time Dominic

Hi there, first time user here, but long time collector. I've been collecting vinyl and cassettes for a while now (7 years), but there is one record/cassette that is making me stumped for years now (4 to be exact). The record/cassette is Lisa Lougheed's Evergreen Nights from 1987/1988 from Canada. It's been a search that never seems to stop. I've looked through countless number of thrift shops, garage sales/yard sales, and music stores, and have only came across the two singles from the album; Ain't No Planes and Run With Us, but still not the album I've been looking for. So then, several years ago, I was introduced into buying records online and decided to look through the internet. I searched through Ebay (though, always weary about that site), Music Stacks, Amazon, Gemm, and Discogs. While on Discogs, I saw people who ("supposedly") owned the record/cassette and noticed I could message those people. So, I asked everyone who owned the vinyl and the cassette, and either recieved no message or was greeted with verbal explictives proclaiming that they will never sell/trade the record for anything. But there was one person on there that was interested in selling their copy, but that person terminated their account over a year ago (and no, didn't get his email address, nor contact info). So, looking online for this record for the past three years has either turned up nothing, too late to buy it or finding a person who owns it, but is too stubborn to message me. I'm almost fed up with finding this record/cassette, and am losing faith everyday for looking for this record/cassette and coming up empty, nearly 100% of the time. As I've said before, I am new to the forum side of the internet (just started my account on here a few hours ago) but I'm hoping this can aide me in my search for Lisa Lougheed's Evergreen Night album (or cassette). I'm asking if anyone on here has or knows anyone that has Evergreen Nights Vinyl or Cassette. Or if I can contact someone to help me find this record, because I've read somewhere about "Record Finders" (people that find records for people) but I haven't found a single person that does that yet. I got the Gemini XL-BD10 turntable used from Craigslist a few months ago in an effort to save some money. I'm relatively new to vinyl, and I have just about zero knowledge about how turntables work, which ones are good, etc. Today I was listening to an LP, and the music stopped all of a sudden. In fact, the platter stopped rotating altogether, but the needle remained in the groove of the record. From my limited understanding, I assume there's a problem with the belt. I don't know exactly what my next step is, though. Is it fixable? If not, should I buy a new part? Or, should I just get a newer, better turntable? Help me, VC!

Ok so...I'm not very smart when it comes to putting together a PC or even knowing whats what and whats good. I'm looking to get a PSU for my girlfriend so she can finished her build. She already has everything except the PSU and ram. All pretty new parts too, within the year she has bought them. My question...would any PSU work? I mean do I have to make sure its compatible with anything else? I'll start off with a little bit of back story to catch everyone up. I purchased a Zenith A947 record player about 3-4 months ago. Everything about the record player worked fine at first until just within the last couple weeks me and my friends started noticing that at random moments songs would slow down for just a second before continuing to play like normal. It wasn't until today that one of my friends woke me up saying that the record playing was spinning really slow and now it won't play records correctly at all. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the belt maybe or what could be wrong with it? I can't seem to find out how to take the plate off to see underneath maybe if anyone could help me with that? I'm new to all this and currently have a hand-me-down from my Dad which is a Dual CS 505-3. Sounded great for a while but recently started to sound more muffled and quite 'heavy base' on records I know were fine before. I'm assuming this is the needle that needs replacing? However budget wise it's limiting me and I can't really afford to get it wrong! Does anyone know a low budget stylus that would work for the Dual CS 505-3? The current one is a Ortofon DN 165E. I'm not sure what's going on. But something is messed up with my system. The sound will randomly cut out on the right side. It's still playing but barely...... left side is fine. The only thing that brings the right side back is disconnecting and reconecting the ground wire on the phono input on the amp. After a while it cuts out again :S Please help me, this is driving me nuts!! Any tips are appreciated.

Hey Guys, I'm still new to this stuff, so if i'm missing something obvious, go easy. I've had my player since Christmas of 2012, but have been using it pretty heavily since December 2013. Lately i've been having an issue where it is either skipping through some of the records, or it sounds like the cartridge or something is also rubbing against the record, along with the Needle. I tried recalibrating the arm, and I think i've got that down, but the issue remains. Is it time for a new needle? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I've been listening to vinyl now for about 3 years and I really love it. I have a pretty basic setup (pioneer pl-a45d TT / pioneer sa-5200 amp / and 4 speakers) and am trying to go to the next level slowly as I save money. This is my question, I currently have an automatic turn table and I personally love the automatic starting and stopping. Are there no TTs that would be considered audiophile that are automatic? One thing that concerns me is sometimes (it's random, not all the time) I have a problem with shaking and not having super steady hands. I'd like to go get something great but personally I would like it to be automatic though I think I could deal with it if it weren't. I read some good things about the vintage technics SL-1600. Does anyone know if this TT is any good? Is it considered audiophile quality? I was also considering about the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon. Any thoughts / advice / help would be greatly appreciated.

hi i have a sony ps lx 300 turntable hooked up to an old zenith receiver, i just noticed on my copy of deftones diamond eyes i can notice what sounds like a rpm variance, pitches going up and down noticeably, (its a 33 1/2 standard 12 inch vinyl brand new white press if that makes a difference) so the question is why, I'm new to this so have no idea of possible reason, is this likely the turntable or the vinyl or….etc any help or direction would be much appreciated thank you
