  4. https://www.topshelfrecords.com/products/676972-gulfer-s-t Track List: Intro Blurry Nature Kids Forget Interlude Heat Wave Mall Song Letters Carefully Flashing Symmetry Trips And Falls Outro Pressing Info: first press: /300 - tri-stripe green/blue/yellow /300 - sandy speckle /400 - 180g black Info: Having spent the past couple years wavering between self-doubt and having it figured out, Montreal's Gulfer have returned to the fore with their third full-length record. Composed of thirteen tracks of intricate, dexterous, and incredibly fun, punk-inspired emo tunes, Gulfer sees the Montreal quartet settled into their own with a career-defining record. Set to be co-released through us and the band's first ever Canadian label in Royal Mountain Records, Gulfer is expansive in a way that sets it apart from the debut What Gives and Dog Bless. Delving into their collective influences by drawing from elements of grunge, shoegaze, and contemporaries Oso Oso and Prince Daddy and the Hyena, the band never turn their back on their earliest inspirations, with stylistic threads tracing easily back to Glocca Morra, Algernon Cadwallader, and TTNG. Explosive, agile emo serves as the backdrop to guitarist and vocalists Vincent Ford and Joe Therriault's honest and vulnerable lyricism, with the two sharing the writing process on a record that tackles human nature; exploring self-doubt, resentment, complex relationships, climate change, and the waning of youth. The band never lose the sense of playfulness and fun that is omnipresent in their live show, an undeniable, electric energy that stems from being a group of close friends before all else. Made to represent where they are, rather than worry about how they will be perceived, Gulfer is a statement of confidence and ambition. Free of former notions that they needed to write in a certain way to sound like themselves, the band instead went with their gut and wrote what came naturally. The result is their most definitive work to date, a record that focuses less on ultra-technical musicianship and more on structure, space, and feel. With renewed energy in their freshened sound palette and their most collaborative songwriting yet, Gulfer have created an album that sounds fresh and exciting, which is no small feat for a band with two full-lengths, a handful of EPs, and eight long years under their belt. The deft and interweaving interplay of Ford and Therriault's guitars is grounded by bassist David Mitchell and drummer Julien Daoust, whose dexterities and musicianship animate the album with explosive, emotional kineticism. Having toured much of the world through Japan, Poland, France, Slovakia, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Serbia and many more, and sharing the stage with the likes of PUP, Joyce Manor, Foxing, Into It. Over It., Title Fight, performing at festivals such as SXSW, ArcTanGent, and Pop Montreal, the band is well-positioned to take their rightful spot centre stage, galvanized by their newest and best record, Gulfer. All purchases come with your choice of a FLAC, ALAC, MP3 320, MP3 VBR or AAC 256 download. Please note: This item is a pre-order and will not be available until it is manufactured and delivered to us. We will send download codes on or just before that time.

  6. http://www.topshelfrecords.com/products/605916-topshelf-records-2018-subscription So we've had this up for a little bit, but I thought I'd post it here and give it some more shine. Thank you to everyone who participated last year and made it so great that we decided to do this again. We've already announced, and almost sold out of the first pressing of, the Elephant Gym reissues. We're announcing something else tomorrow that I know will really get people excited. Along with another announcement next week. We also have new music from Queen Of Jeans, Prawn, Ratboys, No Vacation and a few others coming out this year. We're really excited about what we have lined up and we're hoping y'all dig it as much as we do. We're about 1/3 of the way to getting subscriber exclusive variants for each release, so tell your friends and let's make this happen. Another thing we're doing this year. If you're already a subscriber, we're offering a "friend referral" bonus. If anyone subscribes and gives your discount code when they order, you both receive $10 credit in our store. The more this happens the more we'll hook it up. Thanks!
  7. This album is out digitally but preorders go up soon for vinyl, cassette, and CD. You can use the "get emailed" link to be notified when these are available for preorders. Some variants for the older albums went quickly and I don't want anyone to miss out! http://www.topshelfrecords.com/products/631517-elephant-gym-underwater# Pressing info: Dark Blue/Light Blue Half and Half With Dark Blue Splatter 12" LP (Out of 150) Dark Blue in Mint Color in Color 12" LP (Out of 350) Dark Mint w/ White Marble 12" LP (Out of 500)
  8. http://www.topshelfrecords.com/products/621860-toe-our-latest-number Pre-order is now available. Black/White Color in Color /200 Black/White Aside/Bside /300 White /1500 Track List: Dual Harmonics The Latest Number Etude Of Solitude F_A_R Info: Long before we ever started working with them, toe is a band that has always captivated us. Mostly for their innate ability to meld elements of jazz, punk, post-rock, R&B, and a very specific blend of midwest instrumental math rock a la Ghosts and Vodka or Pele—all while channeling the raw energy of a hardcore show. There aren't too many bands you can listen to and over the course of a few minutes hear parts that ring simultaneously of J Dilla, Victor Villareal, and Fugazi—toe is one of those bands (hell yeah). There's a kinetic energy about anything this band does: a level of care, precision and attention to detail that 20+ years into their existence, continues to elevate and set them apart. This four-song offering is no different—from the four tracks down to the design and packaging (by the talented Makoto Nii of long time inspiration for me, personally, Dis(ign) ). The vinyl packaging contains a screen-printed B-side record and features a spot-varnish on the LP jacket. This EP will be released digitally August 22—all pre-orders (of any format, physical or digital) will get a download of the album on that date. Physical orders will ship the week of September 7, 2018. All purchases come with your choice of a FLAC, ALAC, MP3 320, MP3 VBR or AAC 256 download. This item is a pre-order and will not be available until September 7, 2018. We will send download codes on or just before this date.
  9. Out 10/5/18 digitally and 11/9/18 on vinyl. http://www.topshelfrecords.com/products/626947-lite-blizzard Opaque Purple/300 Bone/700 From Topshelf's website: "Entering their 16th year together, LITE boasts a tremendous back catalog of five full-length albums and six EPs, including 2010's Illuminate (Recorded with John McEntire) and 2012's Past, Present, Future, which featured Caroline Lufkin from Mice Parade. We were honored to welcome LITE to the Topshelf roster with a re-issue of their 2014 album, Installation, which also marked their first proper U.S. release. The prolific quartet's latest offering, Blizzard , is a 7" single that showcases the band's renowned style of cinematic, melodically rampant math rock. Side A explores a host of stylistic influences, with skittering call-and-response guitars building over an electronic drum loop into a shimmering climax that consumes the listener like a blizzard. B side, "Zone," returns to the signature urgency of LITE, crashing straight into a breakneck, noodling ostinato that perfectly captures the group's cinematic style of composition."
  10. All of these were on our Discogs store for higher prices but I moved them all to our site. They will all be on top with our pink alternate logo. If you are elsewhere I can give you a shipping quote as the site can over/under charge sometimes. http://chiselrecords.com/shop/
  11. Recorded at Montreal’s Breakglass Studio, the recording process was something of a rocky road for the band but the resulting record is a vehement leap forward, and one that looks set to cement Heat’s status as one of Canada’s most formidable exports. Led by the band’s three founding members, Susil Sharma (Vocals, Guitar, Synth), Matthew Fiorentino (Guitar, Synth), and Raphael Bussieres (Bass), Overnight feels resolutely solid; old-school aesthetics delivered with a defiantly fresh-faced outlook. Overnight was co-produced by Grammy Award winner Alex Newport, who has worked with the likes of Death Cab and At The Drive In. http://www.topshelfrecords.com/products/579665-heat-overnight Listen to two singles here: https://heatband.bandcamp.com/ FULL STREAM: http://newnoisemagazine.com/listen-glory-post-punk-overnight-montreal-heat/ Listen to their first record here: https://heatband.bandcamp.com/album/rooms-ep-2 This band is amazing. Both singles are amazing. Why is there no hype?

  14. Now that we've relocated from Boston to San Diego and are finally well settled into our new space (lol at how long this takes), we began a project of archiving and cataloging every vinyl variant of every album we've ever released. As you can imagine, with 10+ years worth of physical releases, this is a somewhat cumbersome task. Also with 10+ years worth of releases (and despite our best efforts), we have a few missing things, a few holes to fill — sometimes entire pressings that we don't even have a single variant of. There are also albums we have a surplus of things for so we figured we'd reach out to publicly solicit some trades so we can get a few copies of the album variants we're missing and give people the opportunity to grab some rare/OOP stuff from us in return. Below is a list of what we have available for trade as well as what we need. All serious inquiries should reach out to orders at topshelfrecords dot com. I'll do my best to keep this post updated with current quantities of what we have/need. Thank you!! 19. I don't post in the Cassette thread much but wanted to share this since it might be interesting for a few of you. We’ve been asked a lot over the years about offering a label subscription of some kind — and, while this doesn’t address that specifically, we’re very pleased to have put together something we think is exciting! So we’re announcing a cassette subscription series today. Comprised of artists from around the world that we think deserve more attention, the series will focus on artists we are sincerely fans of that we feel are making new and exciting sounds that you should be listening to. While the series is monthly, we do have quarterly and semiannually options as well if the shipping costs for a monthly plan are a bit too daunting for you. All cassettes are available individually in limited quantities as well. Shipments will also include stickers and buttons. Here is what we have planned (more info soon!): January: Jay Som - Turn Into February: Oyama - Coolboy March: Wished Bone - Pseudio Recordings April: YEYEY - The Vision May: Bent Shapes - Wolves of Want June: TBA July: TBA August: TBA September: TBA October: TBA November: TBA December: TBA PLEASE NOTE: this is currently for people residing in the US only. 20. Topshelf Records - "Last fall Swedish screamo four-piece Suis La Lune went back into the studio to begin recording new material. The resulting recordings make up the band's forthcoming four-song EP entitled Distance / Closure and today we're happy to announce the details for it! The band headed into Guitarist and vocalist Henning Runolf’s basement studio to record the new material. The new EP is set for release on July 31, 2015. Suis La Lune recorded the material themselves, drummer Karl Sladö says, "The recording clocks in at around 25 minutes. The songs are a tad more technical and a bit longer, there's a lot of stuff going on for sure.” In the past Suis La Lune have been heralded for their own flavor of classic late-90s style screamo by combining post-rock-esque instrumentation and tender melodies with passionately frantic vocals and lyrics. Sladö goes on to say the new material has “a darker, harder sound”, however, “Suis La Lune still sounds like Suis La Lune”. The follow-up to 2012's incredibly accomplished Riala, the new EP's cover art and track listing are up now, as well as an option to be notified when pre-orders become available." -------------------- PO available now -First Pressing- 150 Olive Green 250 Oxblood 600 Oxblood w/ Olive Green Splatter Superrrrr stoked for this! 23. So I haven't seen a topic about this yet so I figured I'd start it. On their current tour which started 10/17, The World is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die will have a 7" of their new single "Gig Life", numbered out of 50. From the band's Instagram: "limited out of 50 Lathe Cut 7” single of our new song “Gig Life”. The song is also going to be on our debut LP, and the version on this 7” is a little different then how it’s going to appear on that. We do not plan to put an MP3 version of this recording on the internet, so the only way you can hear it is if you get one of these records."
