  1. Stream: http://hypem.com/premiere/sea+oleena Pre-order: http://lefserecords.limitedrun.com/products/531890-sea-oleena-shallow-pre-order Fantastic mix of modern classical and ambient sounds throughout - just fucking beautiful. Her voice is intoxicating and the compositions are compelling.
  2. The Tumbled Sea is running a kickstarter to press their album Melody Summer on vinyl. This was the first neo-classical album that I was acquainted with and really opened the door for more music of the kind so for me personally, it has reserved a very special place. It has previously been released on CD and digitally by the Futurerecordings label, which has also released a lot of other amazing ambient and post-rock artists such as Birds Of Passage, Sunlight Ascending and The Ascent Of Everest. You can stream and download the album for free on the label's bandcamp page and then if you're feeling so inclined, back the vinyl. It's an amazing, mellow and evocative album. It's definitely good idea to give it a listen even if that's not your go-to music. http://futurerecordings.bandcamp.com/album/melody-summer Here's another release of theirs, every same bit as amazing. http://futurerecordings.bandcamp.com/album/songs-by-the-tumbled-sea They still have quite a bit of money to raise, with 11 days left and almost half the sum still needed to back the project but here's to hoping it will work. This music is made to be on wax. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1541457724/the-tumbled-sea
  3. Founded in 2011 as a side project by members of Afterlife Kids and Henry Fonda, ANCST is a collective from Germany with a lyrical focus on social and political topics as well as personal struggle. The guitar work of multi-instrumentalist Tom, also a member of Henry Fonda, is anchored in steady, pounding tremolos reminiscent of early Amon Amarth and shrouded in thrashy, black crust. This is a perfect complement to the relentless, blasting, pattering kit and Torsten’s crusty, dry shrieks. ANCST hits that sweet spot between fierce melodic black metal & dark metallic hardcore crust, fusing together extreme metal and hardcore socialization In Turmoil features the 'Humane Condition EP', the songs from the splits with Hiveburner, Smutecni Savnost, the first demo, some compilation tracks and one unreleased track. Taima features 40 minutes of pure scifi drone music. In Turmoil LP is limited to 130 white, 392 black, 33 hand numbered testpress editions Taima Cassette is limited to 100 handnumbered copies and available here.
  4. First recording by the concept that became Expo 70 featuring Justin Wright, and members from Bipolar Bear. Originally released on Kill Shaman as a CDr edition. White vinyl have /100 with CD of bonus material and /100 with cassette of same bonus material. Cassette version of July 18, 2004 also available. http://exposeventy.bandcamp.com/album/july-18-2004
  5. It's definitely a lot cheaper for anyone in the UK/EU. For anyone in the US, that's quite a lot of money as it amounts to about 50$. Just posting this in hopes that at least some of you into this kind of music will latch onto this. It is an amazing album and I imagine having the physical release to be worth the money. Serein has a great reputation with their packaging and have released some amazing albums in the past. This album is itself immensely beatiful and contemplative. http://sereinlabel.bandcamp.com/album/retold

  7. FFO: Ambient Hardcore/Post-Rock, Echoes, The Tidal Sleep, Fall of Messiah Formerly known as Fallacies, the British rockers in HAZE have put their debut full-length album, entitled Clouds Surround and Breathe, up for pre-order via Beyond Hope Records (EU/World) and Frail Abuse Records (UK), limited to 250 copies on random colored marbled vinyl. The first 25 pre-orders from Beyond Hope come with a 7-inch of the album's lead single - I Can't Help But Get Lost. The nine-track effort falls just short of 50 minutes in runtime and was mixed and mastered by Neil Kennedy at The Ranch Production House. "Haze is one of those bands that you can't miss out on. Previously known as Fallacies, these guys have mastered the post-rock soundscapes and the hardcore rawness and combined it into something immensely beautiful." -Bandcamp Review (Fret not, US fans. Beyond Hope's shipping fees are beyond cheap. The total cost comes out to about $20.50ppd.) Stream the release here.
  8. So, Low Roar, which is quite a somber, introspective ambient/indie-folk project is holding a pre-order for the to-be-released second album on Pledgemusic. http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/lowroar You can listen to the self-titled debut album in full here. There is a bunch of options to get the album either on CD or LP, lots of exclusive variants. The prices on Pledgemusic are quite high but as for the debut album - the only one I've seen goes on Discogs for 200€ so the ones that are available on Pledgemusic as a bundle with the upcoming second album are indeed a bargain. I think the double album bundle might indeed be the most cost-efficient. It's only the last two days to get in before it's done so, if interested, give it a listen
  9. for those of you seeking Emma's self-released Electric Guitar One, seek no further!!! Sargent House has just repressed it. Hopefully they will pull in the Nocturnes catalog too. The new press is limited to 500 and on "ox blood red" vinyl: Seriously, BUY THIS ALBUM NOW: http://hellomerch.com/collections/emma-ruth-rundle/products/electric-guitar-one-12-ox-blood-red-vinyl
  10. Looking to buy any variant of REA's 12" entitled 'Three Love Songs'. This was recently repressed and sold on orchid tapes, but I missed out on the presale.
  11. http://www.patient-sounds.com/#!psv004---hakobune---seamless-and-here/c4ay /500 5 colors are, Coke Bottle Green, Transparent Orange (they call it gold), Transparent Pink, Opaque White (cloud), Clear (air) "Hakobune (ha-koh-boo-nay) is the ever prolific Takahiro Yorifuji, from Japan. As Hakobune, Takahiro has released an incredible library of ambient music, composed on electric guitar. Eschewing the laborious single-note, long form "drone" expectations that have saturated the ambient genre, Takahiro instead focuses on dynamic shifting melodic phrases that overlap, shimmer, flow in and out of eachother, and ultimately, make for an enveloping, atmospheric listen. "Seamless and Here," the first proper international full length LP by Hakobune, finds Takahiro, not making a statement so much as just doing what he does best. These compostions are tight, but billow like a sheet in the wind. They are concise, but retain an air of mystery. This pressing, an edition of 500, comes in 5 colorways; editions of 100 each. Each colorway comes with a 150gm 12" record in a recycled cardboard jacket, and download codes. Each record also comes with a 12x18 poster featuring color-coded artwork corresponding to the respective colorway of the record. All 500 records come with pink labels with gold print."
  12. Can't really find much about this artist/release, but DZANG is a producer from Los Angeles currently living in Berlin. Someone posted about the record on Twitter, and that's how I discovered him. Nevertheless, the songs are pretty great. Official website: http://dzangtech.com/ Listen to the record/Download it for free: https://soundcloud.com/dzangcloud/sets/xlo BUY LINK: http://dzangtech.com/xlo/ The total is $12.95 shipped if you're in the US. Not a bad price for some awesome ambient tunes.
  13. Shelflife is a great Portland based label that gets almost no mentions here at VC. New LP by Austin, TX dreampop shoegaze band She Sir Preorder & song samples: http://www.shelflife.com/catalogue/LIFE105.html Preorders have already shipped for 2/25/14 release. One of my favs of 2014 so far.
  14. If you don't know who Arthur Russell is, basically he's a guy that dabbled in electronic, disco, ambient, classical, hip-hop and conventional singer/songwriter type stuff in the 80s and early 90s. He died in 1992 and left hundreds of tape reels and DAT tapes worth of music, so most of his material has been released posthumously, and every collection is different than the others. This album is made up of some very experimental minimalist recordings consisting mostly of just cello and vocals, with lots of reverb and delay. Basically the dopest shit ever, one of my favorite albums, and it just got issued on vinyl for the first time: Cheapest I was able to find stateside is from Experimedia. Roughly $30 ppd, well worth it considering how quick his stuff goes out of print: http://experimedia.net/index.php?main_page=product_music_info&cPath=1&products_id=9617 Link for Euros (direct from the label): http://arclighteditions.bigcartel.com/product/arthur-russell-i-another-thought-i This is one of the songs from the album, one of his more well known songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjzsnNkL-7o Another track:
