  1. We just did a limited cassette for South Carolina's Ivadell. They are pro-duplicated, imprinted on white shells. They are all hand numbered out of 100. You can pick it up here: bittermelodyrecords.limitedrun.com Look around the store, there might be a couple surprises too. Ivadell features several members of Discourse and False Light, although Ivadell explores a much different sound. Ivadell departs from the hardcore sound of their other bands, and plays more melodic rock but still crushingly heavy. This 4 song EP is post hardcore rock with just a touch of shoegaze. We did 100 white cassettes of this EP and they are hand numbered. You can give the whole thing a listen to here: http://ivadellsc.bandcamp.com/ Each cassette comes with a download card. Engineered by Kris Hilbert at Legitimate Business Mastered by Brad Boatright at Audioseige Artwork by Lukas Hodge
  2. So, I have been working on this for a little while now. I have released the demo tape of Macaulay Culkin's new band The Pizza Underground. http://bittermelodyrecords.limitedrun.com The band features Matt Colbourn on guitar, Phoebe Kreutz on glockenspiel, Deenah Vollmer on pizza box and Austin Kilham on tambourine, plus Culkin doing some percussion and kazoo. The Pizza Underground is a parody rock band from NY. Boasting members that have all been a staple in the NY anti-folk scene for a long while and Mack have formed this band parodying Velvet Underground songs and making them about pizza. The band will have a tour color on CHEESY YELLOW cassette shells while we have our limited label color on PIZZA SAUCE RED cassette shells. Each tape will come with a download card for a high quality download of the DEMO. WE HAVE RED CASSETTES AND A HANDFUL OF THE YELLOW TOUR YELLOW CASSETTES. The demo was recorded "live at Macaulay Culkin's house on November 11, 2013". According to The Guardian, the band formed in early 2012 and recently played a Lou Reed tribute at New York's Sidewalk Cafe. Other members include Matt Colbourn, Phoebe Kreutz, Deenah Vollmer, and Austin Kilham. The buzz around them has been growing and they are about to head out on a nationwide tour. 3. I'm so stoked on this split. It's seriously the most solid split this year. But I'm a little biased, since I'm putting this out. haha. This will hopefully be ready by late October/Early November. 100 - pink 150- green 250- black AND I will have /50 FEST exclusive versions of this 7" with special covers and numbered at the Bitter Melody Booth. I will also have special FEST editions of the MANALIVE 7", the Sundale tape, a Matt Evans lathe /25 and TWO unannounced projects (one is an LP and the other is a tape). Busy, busy. The Matt Evans (old flings acoustic) FEST lathe cut will have an acoustic version of the track Funeral Mixtape from their split with Fake Boys. We are doing 25 of these and the packaging should be super nice. You can hear the acoustic version from the lathe here: http://oldflings.bandcamp.com/album/funeral-mixtape-acoustic-fest-12-exclusive I'll post some pictures later.
  4. I'm releasing Sundale's (Johnson City, TN) first full length in a couple weeks. We are doing CDs and cassettes for now, but hopefully we can do a vinyl release down the line. Even though this band hasn't had a chance to tour extensively, they have written an amazing record that is worth checking out. They have done some touring with labelmates Old Flings. Here is the first song "Groundhog Day": Please give it a listen and share if you dig it. We are going to get a stream of the full album up in the next week or two. I'll have these at Fest and probably a FEST exclusive version of the tape!
  5. Bitter Melody Records and Goodwill Records are proud to be releasing Manalive's new EP "No Profit in Suicide" on cassette and vinyl. UPDATE: Vinyl is in and will be up in the store today 10/16 NJ's Manalive notably features Amit Sharma (Mother Night), Brian Meehan (Kill Your Idols, Milhouse, Celebrity Murders), Chris Ross (Ensign, Nora, Rain On The Parade), Nate Gluck (Vision, Ensign, For The Love Of…, The Fire Still Burns). They play hardcore in the vein of Deadguy, Strife, and Indecision. It's loud, heavy and pissed off. Manalive are not interested in pretense or posturing, they are here to bring real hardcore back. I've got just a couple orange tapes for sale - the band will have the rest of these. /25 orange cassettes /75 purple cassettes Toxicbreed's Funhouse will be premiering one of the new songs on Sunday. I'll post a link. I also have a handful of the first tape in my store. http://bittermelodyrecords.limitedrun.com/products/516970 These are in stock and shipping now.
  6. Enter code " newyear " in the webstore to get 20% off your order tonight and tomorrow! Last sale of the year-first of the new year. http://bittermelodyrecords.limitedrun.com/ Thanks! Good time to pickup Old Flings, Family Cat, Muscle & Bone, Indecision, and a bunch of distro stuff.
  7. I'm pretty stoked about this. Bitter Melody's first release this year is coming from NC's Gut Feeling. Gut Feeling is a new hardcore band consisting of various members of older hardcore bands scattered around the North Carolina area (former members of Catharsis, Undying, Nightbear, etc). Musically these guys deviate from the previous more metal-laced endeavors and the only part that really carries over from the previous is top notch song-writing, structure and musicianship. Gut feeling does a great job bringing back anthemic hardcore in the vein of bands such as Champion, Comeback Kid, Modern Life is War, etc think fast polished hardcore punk with melodic guitar overtones, a tasteful spattering of gang vocals and sing along parts. they recorded a 4 song EP in November 2012 (recorded by Kris Hilbert/Legitimate Business and mastered by Brad Boatright/Audiosiege) and then made it available online shortly thereafter. Headfirst! and Bitter Melody having worked together before and already looking to do another project together - briefly discussed interest in putting out this EP on vinyl. A few days later we got together with the band, and it was decided Headfirst! and Bitter Melody would co-release this EP as their first projects of 2013! With the combined artistic talents of the band and both labels involved you can expect this to be a top notch release for the start of 2013! you can stream/download the EP for free at their bandcamp: http://gutfeeling.bandcamp.com/ Gut Feeling has started booking shows and can be contacted at [email protected] upcoming shows: 12/29 - Raleigh, NC - TBA - Over and Out, Snake Baptist, Mad Dog, Gut Feeling 1/2 - Winston Salem, NC - Krankies - Foundation, Out Crowd, Gut Feeling 1/3 - Charlotte, NC - The Milestone - Narratives, Low to the Earth, Ghostlimb, Gut Feeling 1/17 - Raleigh, NC - Kings - Catharsis, Man WIll Destroy Himself, Cynarae, Dead in the Dirt, Gut Feeling http://www.facebook.com/gutfeelingNC http://www.facebook.com/headfirstrecords http://www.facebook.com/bittermelodyrecords
  8. -This is a split release between Bitter Melody Records, Self Aware, and Oddczar -300 randomly mixed vinyl -features full color covers and a download card This is the 2nd Full Length that Bitter Melody and Self Aware have embarked after the Old Flings album. Since we are somehow still friends after that we figured why the hell not. This record is refreshing. It is nice to see a band blossom into such a powerful force. They started out as mere high schoolers who always had to play first into young adults who have a clear vision of what they intend to do. Matt Brandon leads "his" band (Oddczar) of motley misfits into the screamo, scramz, or melodic hardcore realm. These kids are young enough to have missed the whole early 00's screamo thing so this definitely comes from a place that is honest and not tired. Essentially these youngsters just create insightful and heartwrenching hardcore that is certifiably "unfuckwithable". Catch them on tour this winter and stay tuned for them to one day rule the world. http://oddczar.bandcamp.com/'>http://oddczar.bandcamp.com/ ffo: Touche Amore, Ampere, Taken, Pianos Become the Teeth You can pick it up from me here: http://bittermelodyrecords.limitedrun.com/products/507162-oddczar-one-word-lp-split-release-between-bitter-melody-and-self-aware'>http://bittermelodyr...-and-self-aware and Self Aware here: http://www.storenvy.com/products/715525-oddczar-one-word-12-lp-bitter-melody-self-aware'>http://www.storenvy....lody-self-aware Here's a couple songs on youtube from the record: http://youtu.be/oIkpvsjnJgg http://youtu.be/2KwqD0UOTKM
  9. This LP came out a couple years ago (and is great by the way!) but has been sitting around for a while. They have just released their second 7" on It's Alive records this week, so we have decided to make this cheap to move some of these out of the way. You can get this on orange or black vinyl for 4.75 for a one sided LP. You can get a free copy with a purchase of 25 dollars or more (must include an LP already) while they last. You can stream it here: http://malldtodeath.bandcamp.com/ and stream their first 7" on It's Alive here: http://www.punknews.org/bands/malldtodeath The Mall'd to Death- Can't Make a Living LP is done and ready to head out the door into your arms. This is a great record. It just made National Undergrounds MUST HAVE RECORDS list (http://www.nationalunderground.org/news/must-have-albums). And it has rarely been out of rotation in my car. This is short fast Minneapolis pop punk that gets right to the point with folks from Off With Their Heads, TERRORDACTYLS, and High Hopes. This is going to be a ONE-SIDED 12" with the 10 album songs and 7 BONUS songs from their session for Out of Step on Radio K. http://bittermelodyrecords.limitedpressing.com/ http://bittermelodyrecords.limitedpressing.com/ http://bittermelodyrecords.limitedpressing.com/
