  1. Hi. After making an earlier post, I was told by members that rather than upgrade my LP60, it would be best if I get a new record player altogether. The ATLP60 served me well, and I have enjoyed playing music on it. What would you recommend I get? I have a couple of considerations: 1. I am happy to buy refurbished or used players on EBay, if the price is right. 2. I am ideally after an fully automatic direct drive player, just for ease (I am dyspraxic, so dropping needles will be a dice with death for my LP's) 3. A built in phono preamp would be nice, as that is what I have with my current player. 4. My budget is between 100-250 pounds. Any assistance and advice is greatly appreciated.
  2. Hey, So I got this record player about 10 years ago from a thrift store for about $10. Recently I grabbed it out of storage and started to put it to use. There are two issues I need to address with it; one there is a slight amount of static even after making sure the cartridge was clean along with the record and two the wire to the left analog speaker is faulty, meaning I sometimes need to jiggle it to get it to play. I have a preamp, just a cheap converter one from Amazon, and Edifier Bookshelf Speakers. So my question is, when do I know when I need to replace a cartridge? Also, should I replace the wire myself from the turntable to the premap to fix the fault in the wire and is it worth the hassle? I like the vintage style set up but I also don't want to waste my time if I should save up for something better. Thanks!
  3. I'm probably missing an obvious one but can anyone think of a direct drive turntable that has a sub chassis in the Ariston, Linn, AR, Pink Triangle mould? I've got a few SL1200 copies that I've used for parts and am thinking about using one of the motor/bearing assemblies as the basis for a little project I have in my head. Problem is I can't think of another example of a suspended direct drive which usually means if no one else has done it it's a bad idea, that's never stopped me before though. The motor/bearing/control unit I have is quite compact.
