as i was updating and editing my profile i came across the My Collection part in my profile. I started thinking and i don't think it would be that hard for the web developers to integrate into Discogs API and let users sync the data between their discogs accounts and their vinyl collective accounts. Wouldn't that be radical? no more duplicate entries! just a thought

I have a dude from Italy who wants to buy a record, but I told him I am reluctant to ship there because of the legend of lost incoming parcels. He told me he has heard about that, but thought it was only a legend and asked if it's possible if he pays for tracking. International tracking costs an arm, a leg, and a nut, so I doubt he'll want to after seeing the price, but you never know how badly someone might want a certain record. Sellers - Would you absolutely never ship to Italy or would tracking make it okay and make sure you don't get ripped off through paypal if the parcel gets lost. Follow up question: I'm thinking about updating my seller terms to state I won't ship there, or that I won't ship there w/o tracking, depending what kind of responses I get. What other countries would you list as places to never ship to, and why? Would you ship there with tracking, or just 'no' period? Thanks.

Sorry if this is the wrong section, I wasn't sure which one it fit best so I thought I'd play it safe and go with everything else. There's info on what to do if the seller is not responding... but I'm trying to figure out how to proceed here, I'll bring you up to speed. Buyer from non-english speaking country with a bit of feedback (3-5 range) places order, I reply the next day with shipping options and prices and say 'let me know which shipping method you want, and I'll invoice you' So nothing for a few days so I say 'maybe you weren't anticipating the additional shipping costs and feel it's too high, this is why I alert int'l buyers to contact before checking out. but no problem I can just cancel your order if you want, and I won't neg you, I'll just ask that you leave me positive feedback, let me know what you want to do' few more days go by and still nothing, so now at this point I realize 3 things: 1) Maybe this person has like zero knowledge of english and they are just waiting for a straight up invoice so they can click and complete the order. 2) If I had invoiced them right away, and it took this long, they'd be a non-paying buyer and I could just cancel there order. 3) If I just wait forever for this dude to pick, I can't relist the item. So I'm not sure what Discogs' policy is, even after searching and I don't want to break the rules or get negged by the seller so this is what I am thinking. They have a bit of feedback, but if they are not responding I don't want to invoice them for any shipping that doesn't have tracking... trouble is: tracking is going to be an arm and a leg. So here's my thoughts: I could invoice the seller for the amount with tracking/delivery confirmation and then either wait them out and cancel as a non-paying buyer. Or see if they say anything back and then cancel due to buyer's request. I have a feeling if I invoice them for the price of delivery confirmation they won't be willing to pay, but who knows? Any thoughts from sellers who are familiar with the ins-and-outs of Discogs? I'm thinking I'll send them an invoice tonight, just to get the ball rolling, cause I don't think it would be wise to just cancel out of fear of getting negged.

Hi, I started cataloging my record collection on discogs this week. Here is my list so far. http://www.discogs.com/user/by_the_dog/collection I do NOT want any records at this time, whether to buy or trade. Many of the high prices are due to my hesitancy in selling (basically, records I want to keep and will only part with for lots of cash), some due to what I feel records are worth. I'm thinking of trimming some of my collection down. Keep checking as I will be adding several hundred more records at least.

Okay so I'm leaning toward refunding a transaction, dude bought a rare, pretty expensive record through Discogs, Signed up same day he bought it, checked out w/o even asking a shipping price and then was fine w/ the $17 int'l cost. I invoiced him, and he said he tried to pay but he was unable, I've bought a bit off Discogs, but not sold much yet, so I'm not sure if this can actually happen, but it never happened to me when buying. But just in case I sent another invoice, he said the same thing plus he called paypal and that they told him I'd have to invoice him manually, so I did this through pp and he said he couldn't pay cause his transaction was flagged, so he called pp again, they told him the transaction was flagged at random, not cause there was anything wrong with either account. I said forget the invoice just use 'send money' and make sure to send as payment for goods and I would cover the fees. The money appeared but he sent it as a gift, and said via email that's the only way it would work and asked me to cancel the invoice I'd sent. Is this even possible? Dude had no feedback so I was thinking of chipping an extra $4 just to get tracking but I don't think tracking is even any good if he claims unauthorized transaction. I do *not* want to be out the record and the money. Thinking of just refunding the guy, so I sent him an email explaining that I might have to issue a refund because paying as a gift does not provide seller protection.

Who here is an active user of discogs.com? I am on there waaaay too much between cataloging my collection/submitting unique releases/fixing disaster submissions. Basically I'm looking for other people here that know their releases and/or can vote on discogs to help clean up some releases.

I received a new order on Discogs. New buyer, totally fresh account made a few days ago. Before I even sent an invoice I made sure to see if this guy had a buyer rating. Apparently not. I went ahead and sent him an invoice. I get a payment that is pending because he used PayPal eCheck. I've gone through this situation before on eBay, where the buyer was also brand new and paid with PayPal eCheck. The funds didn't go through so I proceeded to email the buyer to ask what's up. Apparently, he said gave some bullshit excuse so I filed a claim. It was really a waste of time for me and I really needed money at the time from the item I was selling. I want to know if anyone's dealt with Discogs buyers who have used PayPal eCheck. Any success/failure? I don't want to go through this again.
