  1. Anyone here collect or make patches? I made a few in high school and have considered getting back into it. I wanna see what you've made, if you have tips for making them, or just pictures of your favorite patches or collections of patches that you own/like. Thanks!
  2. Did ya'll see that Tuff Enuff Records have released the Martha EP as a 10"? It ended up being fairly expensive with postage from the UK, but Martha are pretty much the greatest, so I'm down. http://riotsnotdiets.bandcamp.com/album/martha-s-t-ep Also the Riots Not Diets compilations have all been SUPER good if you haven't checked them out yet. I think one or two of them are still available; they're really well put together and well worth a purchase if you wanna check out a bunch of new stuff you maybe haven't heard. They're at least worthy of an mp3 purchase.
  3. FELLOW PROJECT- "Basic Axemanship" 10" EP Fellow Project is a band that exists without any kind of hype attached whatsoever. After forming nearly 13 years ago on Long Island, the band put out one of their first albums, "The Buried Life" on Dead Broke Rekerds. Another album followed ("The Stable Life") a few years later, amongst many EP's and 7" Splits. Now, the powerhouse known as Fellow Project brings forth their best material to date with their newest 6-song EP. With a sound all their own, blending aspects of Punk, Indie rock, Post-hardcore & Folk, along-side comparisons of Small Brown Bike, Lou Reed, Fugazi and even a spaghetti western. Featuring ex-members of: Bridge & Tunnel and On The Might of Princes. Listen/download: https://deadbrokerekerds.bandcamp.com/album/basic-axemanship STAY CLEAN JOLENE- S/T LP Debut album from this consistently brilliant punk rock super-group! Featuring members of The Leif Ericsson and The Great St. Louis, Stay Clean Jolene's pedigree speaks for itself. It should therefore come as no surprise to learn that their debut, self-titled, album is a masterclass in how to pen perfect, anthemic, heart-on-sleeve punk-rock in 2014. With a rich legacy of homegrown legends like Leatherface and Snuff, SCJ play homage to the UKs finest while building on the incredible foundation of their previous bands output to produce an album greater than the sum of it's parts. Listen/download: https://deadbrokerekerds.bandcamp.com/album/stay-clean-jolene THE RAGING NATHANS- "Losing It" LP The Raging Nathans are from Dayton, Ohio, and they sure are raging. Hyped-up, melodic punk rock bursting with sick pop-punk flavor at its very core. (early) Green Day, Screeching Weasel & even contemporaries like Off With Their Heads, all come to mind. But all the good parts. Whether it be a gut-wrenching melodic jam or a ripping four-chord pop-punk blazer, the Nathans indeed bring their own brand of flavor to the mix. All the while keeping it very fresh and tight. Tight as hell. Listen/download: https://deadbrokerekerds.bandcamp.com/album/losing-it PRINCE- S/T II 7" EP Snotty and melodic-as-fuck pop-punk from the blazing streets of Austin, TX! Members of Huff Stuff Magazine, Dude Jams!, Capitalist Kids, Wild America & more rage on with their upbeat & unique blend of lo-fi garage slop-pop-punk. Get on it cus this is totally ruling it. Listen/download: https://deadbrokerekerds.bandcamp.com/album/s-t-e-p-2 Go grab all these and 1,000's more in our Distro Store @ http://www.deadbrokerecords.com ALSO STILL NEW: SONIC AVENUES- S/T Deluxe Edition Reissue LP MURMURS- "Bound" LP/Tape CANCERS- "Fatten The Leeches" CD/LP/Tape UP NEXT!!! : IRON CHIC / LOW CULTURE- Split 7" EP (*Pre-order available now!!!*) SOMERSET THROWER- "Falling Swingers" 7" EP SPRAYNARD- "Cut and Paste" LP (Reissue)

  5. Hey everyone! I've finally decided to take the leap and start a small label - Flesh and Bone Records. I've been releasing my own music for over 10 years and helping friends with their projects as well, and now I want to continue to grow my vision. A little info - After touring the country and world extensively with my band Deadhorse, as well as helping found and run a region wide collaborative zine entitled Broken Teeth, I started Flesh and Bone. For the last 2 and a half years, Flesh and Bone has been the umbrella to encompass all of my creative endeavors. I make a living by doing graphic design and custom 1" buttons for bands, businesses, organizations, labels and individuals all over the world. I've worked with over 600 different clients, and I've seen so many people sharing their visions, ideas, music, art, creations and life in our partnerships together. I want to take that vision one step farther, and turn this into a record label. I'e been inspired by all of the wonderful people I've been working with, that I want that to continue to grow and flourish, and I feel like this is the avenue I want to go down at this point in time, and couldn't be more excited about it. Due to the nature of these endeavors and the DIY mentality that will be behind this, I'm starting small. I want to take baby steps to grow and develop this idea over time, and not jump in head first. With that being said, this will start with all digital and custom tape releases as far as music is concerned. I am also interested in putting out zines, books and other creative projects from artists of all sorts. I'm partnering with a friend that does amazing work with tapes, much like you see with records this day in age - transparent hazes, three color swirls, split half colors, the works. There hasn't been a lot of this that I have seen across the board within the "tape" revival, but his custom creations are quite exciting, and I'm honored to be doing things like this. We'll find unique options for every release that compliment the artwork always. If everything goes as planned at the moment, I will be launching everything this summer. I want to start with 3-6 releases all at the same time. Non-genre specific, this label will rather focus on the mentality of the artists involved. This idea is about creating a family of musicians, artists, writers and other creatives that already know what it's like to hold themselves up with their own efforts, those who know what it's like to pioneer into releases, tours, and all creative projects with their own two hands, not relying on anything else. I'm not here to take over and provide you with all the answers, the right connections, the "label promises" of a bygone era, but rather to house a family, and be of service to helping your creative vision grow. The objective is to then release vinyl down the line, and the first vinyl releases will be collaborative efforts with some partner labels, but that will be a little later in the game. I already have some exciting artists I plan on working with, and we're already figuring out details for the releases, but I'm still open to all ideas, suggestions, and submissions. I want to know what you're doing, and if we connect, who knows what sort of things we could accomplish together. Send your submissions to [email protected] if you're interested!
  6. MURMURS- "Bound" LP / Tape is OUT NOW!!!!! Seattle, Washington's kings of crusty pop-punk are back with their first official full-length album. Last year saw the vinyl release of the bands' debut batch of songs titled, "Fly With The Unkindness". Well, Murmurs are back and are here to kick the goddamn door in with, "Bound". Drawing from earlier pop-punk influences (ranging from the East Bay to the Northwest), the band pushes further on with their dark, urgent & poppy melodic tones. All while churning it up with a chunk of fuzzed-out grunge rock, this time around. If you weren't a believer before, then you will be now. An outstanding effort & one of our favorite records of the year, straight up. (Members of: Snuggle, Pipsqueak, No Hi-Fives To Bullshit, Transient & more.) Comes w/download. 7. Joined this forum a couple years ago, but apparently barely ever posted. This is my label. Don't know if any of you will have heard about it before. It's been around since the first quarter of 2012. All my releases so far have been in the punk/emo/hardcore/metal ilk, but that's not through any conscious decision. Should have some really cool records coming out in the next like...6 months. http://blacklakerecords.net http://blacklakerecords.bigcartel.com http://blacklakerecords.bandcamp.com http://twitter.com/blaacklaake http://instagram.com/blaacklaake (also if any other of you labelheads wanna trade/wholesale, here's a brief tradelist for you: BL019: THIN PRIVILEGE - S/T 12" (noise rock/three one g freak punk from glasgow) [orange & clear // dark blue] BL018: LÉON - S/T 12" (chaotic screamo from oslo, norway. ex-kaospilot) [white] BL017: PLAIDS/XAXAXA - SPLIT 10" (90s emo, Drive Like Jehu/Husker Du worship) [red with black splatter 'poppy'] BL016: ALWAYS WANTED WAR - C.R.E.A.M. 10" (screamo/punk from hamburg) [black/black w/ magenta splatter] BL014: THE RODEO IDIOT ENGINE - CONSEQUENCES 12" (french dark hardcore/mathcore) [white w/ black splatter] BL013: GACYS THREADS / COLLOSUS FALL - SPLIT 7" (irish/swiss blackened hardcore) [clear yellow] BL012: BRIGHTER ARROWS - DREAMLINER (midwest US emo/screamo) [clear green UK colour only] BL011: SLOTHS - KNIVES 12" (one sided record from psych-screamo oregonians) [black] BL010: DIRTDRINKER - s/t 12" (noise rock/punk from Aberdeen, Scotland) [piss yellow] BL009: CLEARER THE SKY - 'SCOTLAND' 7" (melodic hardcore/post rock from Aberdeen, Scotland) [black] BL007: ABSOLUTIST/ABEST - SPLIT 7" (irish/scottish sludge crust meets german doomy crust) [black vinyl] BL006: LOCKTENDER/OAKEN/WOUNDED KNEE/COMA REGALIA - SPLIT 12" (4 US emo/screamo bands play lengthy melodic tracks) [clear orange/lavender/deep purple available] BL005: FOR WANT OF - S/T CASSETTE (austin, texas old school screamo, repress of 7" on tape) [black tape w/ pad print] BL004: CORRUPT HUMANITY/CHEMICAL TOMB - SPLIT 7" (blisteringly fast grindcore from edinburgh/portsmouth, 16 tracks!)

  10. Finally this beast is available for public consumption. The debut LP from Lexington, KY's THE ELSINORES. Dreamy, post-punk influenced songs that evoke feelings of nostalgia, loss, and hope simultaneously. Comparisons to Husker Du, New Order, Wipers, and early Merchandise would all be alright starting points, but this thing is truly its own unique beast. Perfect production that's full and enveloping rounds everything out. 500 copies on black vinyl, most with screen printed inside-out LP jackets, less with screenprinted fold-over covers, all including an 8 page half-sized zine with lyrics, art, and associated writings about the album and songs therein. This is HKR-014. Released in conjunction with IFB, Karmic Swamp, Dead Tank, and Human Crush. Buy it here: http://hipkidrecords.storenvy.com/collections/42074-all-products/products/6475297-the-elsinores-dreams-of-youth-lp Listen to it/download it here: http://hipkidrecords.bandcamp.com/album/dreams-of-youth

You can certainly pay more, we're recording our 3rd LP and we will make good use of the funds. These records are homemade and raw. We're proud of them and we think they are beautiful. 13. I'm thinking this has to be a lot cheaper then buying premade solutions, however I have no idea where I find things like 'triple deionized water' or Kodak Photo-Flo (aside from online with a huge mark-up). If you have a simple and reliable recipe please share! I found these via eHow, but if I can't get everything from Amazon then I'm kind of not interested haha. Laura Dearbon's Method Mix one part isopropyl alcohol to three parts diluted water. This is the basis for all record cleaning sprays. For best results, use lab-grade isopropyl with triple deionized water. Both of these ingredients can be found relatively cheaply at a chemical supply store. Mix in an empty spray bottle. Soundstage Method Mix 1 pint of isopropyl alcohol with one-half gallon of distilled water. Add 2 oz. of Lysol Antibacterial All-Purpose Cleaner, 20 to 30 drops of Kodak Photo-Flo, then mix with a second half-gallon of distilled water. If Kodak Photo-Flo is unavailable, a small amount of dish detergent may be substituted. Pour into empty spray bottle or any bottle with a small opening, allowing you to control the application of the cleaner. Jonathan Scull ("Stereophile Magazine") Method Mix three parts distilled water with one part isopropyl alcohol. Add 10 drops of Kodak Photo-Flo and 10 drops of Lysol Antibacterial All-Purpose Cleaner.

  19. Any zine collectors? I know there are old topics, but they haven't been touched in a long time, and it just hasn't been brought up. I used to help fun a collective zine here in the Erie area called Broken Teeth. I currently help design for a similiar idea zine down in Greensboro, NC called Amplifier. I hope to be starting some personal zines up here in the fall/winter, to fill downtime as the snow piles up. I have a pretty big zine collection, I think I'm up to around 400 or so. I always like to grow and expand it, and right now, I'm most interested in personal zines - just life stories, tour stories, adventures, anything that is just someones personal perspectives or accounts on specific situations, or life in general. If anyone has anything like this that they wrote, or a friend wrote, or just know of some really awesome ones worth checking out, I'd really appreciate that. Also, if anyone would just be into trading zines in general, let me know, and we could trade lists!

  22. Skeletal Lightning is an independent DIY label and distro in the Midwest. The label started as a blog to spread awareness of the Midwestern underground music scene, and felt the need to get more involved by releasing music from the bands we love and support. Whether it be cassette or vinyl, Skeletal Lightning aims to bring quality music from kick-ass bands to their fans with special packaging, cool goodies, limited artwork, and more with each release. 25. This might be a bit of a random post, but I was digging around for some music last night, and came across this. First, I was looking to see if there was ever even a small pressing of The Winston Jazz Routine - Sospiri since I knew there was a pressing out there of the record before it called "Realization". Of course there's nothing, and it needs to happen, but that's another story. In digging, I had COMPLETELY forgot that Nathan, the brainchild behind The Winston Jazz Routine had come out with a solo record back in mid 2009 called "Postcard". It's really just a new Winston Jazz Routine record under his solo name, and it's incredible. There are only 200 of them total, and they are all handmade. He took old LP jackets, sanded them down, turned them inside out, put actual different postcards on the front of all of them, and stamped his name on them. Great project, and nice little unique one-of-a-kind packaging. His website hadn't been updated since 2010, but I emailed the address listed for purchasing his record via paypal, and sure enough he got back to me saying there are still some of these available, and even though it's all inactive and done for, he's still shipping them out. You can check out the music for this release here: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/nathanphillips This is what the records look like: 200 total on standard black vinyl, in the diy packaging: You can order this record directly from Nathan on his extremely outdated website in the right sidebar where it says "Paypal vinyl": http://nathanphillipssongs.blogspot.com/ This might be mega old news to some of you, and some of you might have this, but to those looking for a little gem, I highly recommend picking this up, and checking out "The Winston Jazz Routine" as well, for some super chill, super awesome music.
