  6. this is my first post here. i remember a thread on here years ago in regards to an issue between EvilWeevil records and cousin brian's 7" EP. funny stuff. i just looked it up again. Cousin Brian (philadelphia) has a new album. all the tracks are done and were looking for someone to release it. Still the same old down home up beat morrissey worship college rock with perry farrell on vocals, chimey guitars (SO CLEAN AND CHORUSY) and harmonies you can feel sound - but, these new recordings feature a hi-fi twist not unlike, but certainly not touched on in cousin brian's "First" LP (2012). These songs have a wet feel. It sounds like water sometimes. check out three tracks here: Closer to Dog 2015 here is a link to a recently video for Disposer off of the First LP: youtube video of disposer by cousin brian
  7. Dying “Broken” cassette EP, available March 29, 2015. Stream their song "Rites" now here: http://listen.hydrogenmanrecords.com/album/broken Dying formed in Philadelphia in the winter of 2011. Over the course of three years and three releases, a handful of short tours and canceled shows, traumatic van repair crises and a few lineup changes, they have slowly transformed into a completely different animal than their early configuration. The band has become rawer and more aggressive over time, pulling more directly from hardcore staples from the early 2000’s like Cursed and Converge. Their newest recordings find them toeing the line between memorable hardcore songwriting and unhinged anxiety wracked noise. This new EP represents another leap forward both in production value, and in depth of songwriting and execution. Four songs showcasing an impatient, anxiety ravaged band with nothing positive to contribute to your life. This is bleak and unwelcoming metallic hardcore. FFO Cursed, Catharsis, Converge. Engineered by Steve Roche at Permanent Hearing Damage and mastered by Carl Saff. Track listing: 1. Rites 2. Exchange 3. Police / Work 4. Chewing More info at http://www.hydrogenmanrecords.com

  9. I'm super bummed right now. I had so much fun at this venue over the years and have seen many great shows. Via R5: Hellos - We have some sad news to pass along. As you likely know, we (r5) have booked thousands of shows at The First Unitarian Church since 1996. A bunch of now super famous and legendary bands got their first "big break" there.... Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons, At The Drive In, TV On The Radio, the xx etc. Even Ryan Gosling came through to play at the now infamous venue. In the last few years, we have been fortunate enough to open two dedicated venues, Union Transfer and Boot & Saddle. With these new venues and a slew of other that have opened up around Philadelphia, it's become increasingly difficult to book bands who want to play the church. The church heavily relied on our rental income for the basement hall and since we were no longer using the space as frequently as we have in the past, they understandably had to find a more permanent tenant. In a few weeks an after school group will begin to use the basement hall which will make our ability to host shows on weeknights extremely difficult. We still plan/hope to do shows on Saturdays and Sundays moving forward. We realize that limiting ourselves to just two days, there won’t be many opportunities to present future shows in our favorite venue. So over the next few weeks, this will be our last big series of shows at the church. We'll still have a show or two here or there but this is essentially the last big run. Take a quick look below for our remaining church shows in 2014. We encourage you to come out to a show, especially now that fall has arrived and it's the perfect church show going weather (aside from those gross ginkgo smell balls - we certainly wont miss those). The church has been and continues to be an amazing partner to work with for almost twenty years. What other church would ever let a group called Pig Destroyer play a five days before Christmas? We are forever in debt to them. One last thing, this does NOT include the seated shows in The Sanctuary or smaller Side Chapel. Those will continue to happen as normal. Hope to see you out at the church at some point this year. xo/r5

  11. They were $20 + $3 service fee at the box office. I am looking to unload them for $20 for the pair. That is less than 2 combined. I will trade them for other tickets or records too. Any interest? Rumor has it the ghost of Dave Insurgent will be present + Jello and East Bay Ray are buds again
  12. Mumblr Debut New Single "Puke" + Ready Album for November Philadelphia-based rock foursome Mumblr are becoming known for their ferocious hooks, which is a staple of their highly energetic sound they call "fuzz punk." On "Puke", the lead single from their forthcoming album White Jesus/Black God, the above statement rings true as frontman Nick Morrison coos pensive one liners about someone that brings him down followed by bursts of furiously emotive chants pleading "I don't know anything why do you lie to me?!" over agitated guitars and drums. Soundcloud (stream/free DL): https://soundcloud.com/fleetingyouthrecords/mumblr-puke Bandcamp (stream/free DL): http://fleetingyouthrecords.bandcamp.com/track/puke It's angry yet catchy; a great example of "fuzz punk" and what Mumblr is all about. White Jesus/Black God will be available on cassette and digital formats via Fleeting Youth Records on November 12th. Pre-orders can be made here. More info on the release here
