  1. Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum! I'm looking for an uprgade to my Dual CS 415-2. I bought this turntable three years ago, when i started collecting vinyl records. To be honest it's a nice turntable,it does the job, but i can't stand having records that are 70€ played on turntable, which I bought for 50€ or about 60$. I have a rather nice amplifier, Hitachi HA-4500. I'm looking for better a audio quality and overall better alternative to the one I have. My budget is about 300€ or 360$. I made a bit of research and came to the conclusion, that there are two turntables that are in my price point and are worth it. Firstly, Audio-Technica AT-LP5, not Audio-Technica AT-LP5X. I found one, second hand in great condition, in my country for around 280€ or 330$. I saw few reviews and it turns out to be a great overall turntable, for pure listening. Secondly, Pro-Ject Primary E, belt driven, with a great reaviews. I would love to hear more record player suggestions, either second hand or new. Maybe thorens or Technics. I just want to have the best sound quality at this price, I'm sure i won't be able to find good sounding Technics SL 1200 at this price, but I'm looking forward to your suggestions and ideas. Thank you in advance, Ivan.
  2. So I'm upgrading my atlp60, right now I was thinking about a uturn custom with a basic platter, a grado black, the tonearm cue lever and the built in preamp for 350$. I saw that the onkyo a9010 was a good amplifier for the price so I figured I might just get that if you guys approved. The speakers were all kinda weird cause most of the good ones are only sold in the UK is what it seems, I was interested in the q acoustics 3020 which some people love and some people say the bass isn't good enough. I love the aesthetic of the orbit but if there's a better table I should get please let me know, I like the atlp120 but I hate the design, especially silver design, I know it's petty. I'm pretty ignorant though so please help me. Is there anything I should change or need in addition to this?
  3. Hey, I have an Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB turntable with the standard AT95E cartridge. I have old records from the 60's and 70's and wanted to what needle is the best for the old vinyl. I don't need anything crazy, but just an upgrade to improve the sound and feel. Thank you.
  4. Brand new member to these boards, and I cannot believe I have never joined here before! So I have been into vinyl since college (about 10 years) and I have always just put most of my money into buying new records, so I have a pretty sweet collection at this point of ~200-300 both used and new. A combination of not having the money, and blowing money on records has always prevented me from building a nice stereo setup. Over the years I have gotten a few vintage pieces together to make my current setup for cheap (~$250): Marantz 6100 turntable - with pickering XV-15 cartridge (original 625E stylus) Sansui G5700 receiver Infinity RSa speakers All of these pieces are in good working order and have done a decent enough job for me for several years as a poor college/grad student, but I am now able to finally upgrade to something better. I never really paid any attention to what components would/should work together since I just bought what I could find at local shops. I am now looking for which component upgrade would give me the most benefit initially, and if any of these components are actually pretty decent and not worth upgrading. I am not really in any rush to upgrade everything all at once (it's been long enough with the current setup that I can take my time) so I would say I have about $750-$1000 budget per component stretched out over the entire upgrade process. I would ideally like to buy new and upgrade to a system that will last for a long while, and not need/want to be changed anytime soon. I listen mainly to rock from all eras and I also have a good amount of classical/jazz records that I was given. I like music to sound clean and straight forward with not too much added color to it. I like hearing what the artist intended without the stereo adding what it thinks it should sound like. Any help and opinions would be greatly appreciated with all of this.....time to put on another track now! -Z
  5. I am selling my Audio Technica ATXN5 Compass Stylus (aka 205-DET) which has seen below average use (purchased new 1 year ago). This stylus is an excellent HiFi upgrade to the stock stylus included on the Audio Technica AT-PL120. It snaps right into the PL120's stock cartridge (ATP-2) so no realignment is needed. It provides better sound quality and a lighter tracking force (1.00-1.75 grams). I am asking $40 ppd $35 ppd $28 ppd SOLD. More info can be found here: http://www.turntableneedles.com/ATXN5-Compass-for-Audio-Technica-AT-X5E-Cartridge--our-Needle-205-DET_p_933.html Please message me if you're interested. Thanks.
