  2. Couldn't find any threads for it but if memory serves Daughter have had threads for each of their last albums and their soundtrack for before the storm was quite sought after on RSD last year so I figured a bunch of you would be interested in this. Digitally dropped 30/12/18. Vinyl expected in February. I've already listened to it a few times through and it's great. Here's the blurb: Elena Tonra, guitarist, vocalist and lyricist of Daughter with her solo project. Running parallel to Daughter, she’s assumed the pseudonym Ex:Re (pronounced ex ray) for her eponymously-titled debut solo album, a deeply personal record that was made with both a sense of urgency and a cathartic need. Tonra’s candid solo songs document the time after a relationship ended and are written like unsent letters to herself and others. Taking on a creative moniker, she chose Ex:Re to mean ‘regarding ex’ and also X-Ray as a way to look inside and see what is really there. Writing took a year but the recording process lasted mere months, turning to Fabian Prynn (4AD’s in-house engineer and producer) and composer Josephine Stephenson on cello to help bring Ex:Re to life. Elena said of the album, “Although the record is written for someone, a lot of the time it’s about the space without that person in it. In every scenario, there's either the person in memory or the noticeable absence of that person in the present moment. I suppose it is a break-up record, however I do not talk about the relationship at all, and he hardly features in the scenes. He is only felt as a ghostly presence.” LP - Black Vinyl with Download and Bonus CD. LP+ - Rough Trade Exclusive. Limited Blue Coloured Vinyl with Download and Bonus CD. This is the only Coloured Vinyl Version Available. UK Preorder: https://www.roughtrade.com/gb/music/ex-re-ex-re US Preorder: https://www.roughtrade.com/us/music/ex-re-ex-re

  4. Formed nearly a decade ago, galvanized by Tampa hardcore and inspired by its miscreant noise, A Corpse Wired For Sound signals a new chapter for Merchandise. Following 2014’s After The End — a full-band effort recorded in a closet — the band stripped back to its core of Carson Cox (vocals, electronics), Dave Vassalotti (guitar, electronics) and Pat Brady (bass). The trio travelled to Rosà, Italy for their first ever sessions in a recording studio, with local producer, ICIO. The nine-song nocturnal A Corpse Wired For Sound was recorded half in the studio and half at home, in Tampa as well as Cox’s newly adopted bases of New York and Berlin – the culmination of a long-distance collaboration between Cox and Vassalotti. The album’s metallic title is inspired by a science fiction short story by JG Ballard, but equally sums up the band’s current state of mind. “We were ‘reborn’ as a rock band for After The End," says Vassalotti, “and then we straight-up died again. It couldn’t last. The result is this distended corpse responding to you from both sides of the Atlantic, forever singing in spite of everything.” Cox expands further, “it’s about the truth of growing up. You can’t take your friends or lovers with you. It’s about finding peace with that loneliness.” Limited blue vinyl. 100 pre-orders will receive one of 100 unique collage art pieces by Carson Cox. http://4ad.com/releases/815
  5. I know that this was discussed in "Ambient, Experimental..." topic but this release deserves it's on thread. http://www.4ad.com/releases/790 As the music has already leaked you can check it by your own. I'm not huge Tim Hecker fan. Some of his work is fabulous ("Ravedeath, 1972") other do not click for me at all. So I gave yesterday a try to "Love Streams" while waiting for a plane on Heathrow. Damn, that was great music experience. This record is like a modern building made out of concrete and glass. It's spacious, smooth, simple but with a lot of details and textures. I love it. Ordered the limited transparent vinyl as I got home. It's still available.
  6. "LNZNDRF is a new band composed of the National's Scott and Bryan Devendorf, as well as Beirut member and National/Sufjan collaborator Ben Lanz. 8. God damn this new track is amazing! I can already smell the "oh man, I don't like how they changed their sound" comments, but those people can go butt a stump. Love these guys no matter what. From 4AD: "Merchandise have just announced from their website that their new album, After The End, will be released on 4AD on August 25th. Like their albums before them, After The End was recorded and produced by the band, this time over a six-month period in the house they share in Tampa. A real achievement in showing what bands can achieve themselves, the only outside influence came when they enlisted mixing help from Gareth Jones - the man famed for his work with Tuxedomoon, Depeche Mode’s Berlin Trilogy of Construction Time Again, Some Great Reward, and Black Celebration, and more recently Interpol, These New Puritans and Grizzly Bear. Speaking to the NME earlier this year, Carson Cox said “(Our last album) Totale Nite was the end of the book. This is a whole new one. It's like we can start a new band with basically the same name. We've already exploded our reality – now we're going to re-make ourselves as a pop band, but it'll still be a twisted reality.” He’s kept to his word with the album being made up of ten tracks spread across a mean 45 minutes. The album can now be pre-ordered from here (iTunes link...BOOOOOO) and the tracklisting is below... Merchandise Before The End Catalogue No: CAD 3430 1. Corridor 2. Enemy 3. True Monument 4. Green Lady 5. Life Outside The Mirror 6. Telephone 7. Little Killer 8. Looking Glass Waltz 9. After The End 10. Exile And Ego The first track to be aired from the album, ‘Little Killer’, has just been posted online. A pop song about war that was inspired by the poet Wilfred Owen, Carson also made a brilliant video using a green screen to accompany it. You can watch it here or in the player below…" http://4ad.com/news/28/5/2014/newalbumthisaugustwatchlittlekillervideo
