Hi, I just inherited a Dual 1229 with a Shure M91ED-DL cartridge. I already own an Audio Technica LP-120 with a Shure m97xe on it. Obviously I don't know too much about equipment and I could use your help. Is it worth my time to swap the cartridges and setup the Dual as a daily listener or should I just use my AT-LP-120? I'm new to all this and currently have a hand-me-down from my Dad which is a Dual CS 505-3. Sounded great for a while but recently started to sound more muffled and quite 'heavy base' on records I know were fine before. I'm assuming this is the needle that needs replacing? However budget wise it's limiting me and I can't really afford to get it wrong! Does anyone know a low budget stylus that would work for the Dual CS 505-3? The current one is a Ortofon DN 165E. Any help anyone could give me would be much appreciated, I've searched around and struggling to get a definite answer!

I have a Dual CS1257 that I paid $100 to repair, but the speed switch was totally busted so it only plays at 33. I have a bunch of 45 stuff I want to be able to play, but I don't want to put any more money into this thing if it's not considered a worthy investment. Any opinions on repairing the Dual vs. picking up something more worthy with the money I don't have?
