  1. over the past couple months, i have done an insane thing. i've ranked every single Alkaline Trio song from best to worst. my list is my own, and i'm sure people are going to have their own opinions. with that in mind, i created a March Madness style bracket, and i created a Twitter account for the sole purpose of allowing everybody to vote on which songs advance. the full bracket can be found at www.tinyurl.com/alkalinetrio666 if you want to see it in full, broken down region by region. make sure you follow the twitter account, which is www.twitter.com/alkalinetrio666 and will have the voting for each game. only songs originally written by Alkaline Trio were included in the bracket, so that means some pretty great trio recordings (such as Halloween, Rooftops, and Wake Up Exhausted, among many others) were left off. since there were 131 original Alkaline Trio songs, i had to have 3 "play-in games" to whittle things down to an even 128 and have a balanced bracket. those first three play-in games are what we're voting on for the next 24 hours. use the hashtag ‪#‎alkalinetriobracket‬ and please share this everywhere and with everyone you think will enjoy it. i'm very curious to see everybody's opinions, and how close i came to ranking things the way everybody else would have.
  2. Hey VC. You know you guys are the greatest, right? That's good. You all look fine tonight. I have something for you. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't. Maybe you like the band, maybe you don't. Either way, I'll hope you can appreciate it. I love college basketball, and I think the NCAA tourney (aka March Madness) is the best tournament, bar none, of any sport. I also love music, a lot. It's why I'm here. One of those bands happens to be Cursive, helmed by Tim Kasher. I own all of their albums and give maximum effort to see them when they're here in Central Florida. They also have a lot of songs! Hard to pick a favorite, right? Well, I did, using an NCAA March Madness-style tournament. You can read the post here: http://onerecordperday.wordpress.com/2013/06/04/subjectiverumbles-cursive/ I was inspired by Rembert Browne, a writer for Grantland. In 2011, he did the exact same type of post for OutKast called the "Stankoff" and one earlier this year for Chappelle's Show Skits. I discovered the Stankoff as I was looking for the artwork for Aquemini, for my daily music writing project: One Record Per Day. Check it out. Let me know what you think. I plan on doing more of these as this year goes along and would greatly appreciate any feedback.
