Now that we've relocated from Boston to San Diego and are finally well settled into our new space (lol at how long this takes), we began a project of archiving and cataloging every vinyl variant of every album we've ever released. I think most anyone reading this classified ad doesn't need to be sold on the box set. You've probably read all the raving beautiful reviews all over this forum and every other place on the web. These vinyl will probably be the greatest SRV releases to exist and their value will only continue to go up once it is out of print (especially for the numbered copies like this one). I am new to collecting vinyl. And please excuse my naivety and my, probably very elementary, question. But when I am record shopping how do I: 1) Tell the difference between a limited edition pressing 2) Tell the difference between a first run pressing if they don't say anything on the package or sleeve? The reason I ask is because I recently was shopping and bough a couple of albums I really wanted on vinyl. So I didn't care if they were limited/first run or not. But, to my delight when I got home I found that they were. I am aware of the Discogs.com database. But I am wondering if there is a quicker way to find out just by looking at the record itself while I am searching the bins? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you everyone!! - John

Marigold Records release of the Empty Soda Can 7" by Lance's side-project, Cilantro. It's four-track recordings of 6 J Church songs that never made it to official releases. VERY RARE!! Lance Hahn: A Hawaii resident transplanted to LA, San Francisco and now Austin, TX, Lance started out his recording career in Cringer then formed J Church in SF in 1991, alongside schoolfriend and Cringer band-mate Gardner Maxam. Lance is now the sole original member of the group. He is a long-time contributor to MaximumRock'n'Roll and wrote a book on the early anarcho punk scene in the UK. Musically, he has released a solo acoustic record under the name 'Cilantro' (after his favourite smell), was Beck's touring guitarist in 1994-5 and was in the final line-up of Bay Area pop-punk band Monsula in the early 1990s. He has also run Honey Bear Records (named after Winnie The Pooh) since 1994. The Honey Bear site has a detailed biography of all Lance's pre-J Church bands. **J Church is no more.
