  1. Excellent condition throughout with original box and packing material. 9” Evolution carbon fiber arm, Clamp It, upgraded Connect It cables, and heavier counterweight. Ortofon 2M Red cartridge aligned and ready to go! Mahogany finish. Located in Brooklyn, NY. Would of course prefer a local deal, but have no problem shipping. Asking $1150 shipped or $1100 local, PayPal only and will include the fees in that. Thanks!
  2. So I recently got a used pro-ject debut carbon that doesn't have the ground wire for the phono preamp. I'm wondering if what kind of wire matters in terms of using it for a grounding wire or if anything will do. It's going to be connected to my bellari vp130. Just wanted to know if I should grab any kind of wire from home depot or order something specific from amazon.
  3. I've had my Debut Carbon for a few years now, and I'm thinking about upgrading my setup. Here's what I have currently: Pro-Ject Debut Carbon (with the Ortofon 2M Red that it came with) -> Sony STR-AV320 (receiver with phono input) -> Sharp CP-BA2650 speakers (in Speaker A) and Bose Interaudio 2000 speakers (in Speaker B ) Everything besides the turntable was given to me for free or super cheap, so I'm looking to swap some of those parts out. The problem is that I don't know what the bottleneck in my setup is. Does anyone have any experiences with this receiver or these speakers? If so, where should I go from here? For amps, I've been looking at the Yamaha A-S501, Onkyo A-9050, Music Hall a15.3, and the Marantz PM5004 or 6005. I also have a TCC TC-750LC preamp that I got before I got the receiver. Would it be worth it to throw this into my setup now, or is it not going to have much of an effect? Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi folks - I've been (mostly) lurking here for years and decided it was time to formally ask for some help with my setup. I started experiencing a hissing sound in my right channel due to my receiver and I'm wondering if it's a better idea to upgrade the receiver or simply repair it. It's not out of warrant, and HK doesn't have any repair centers nearby. My setup is as follows: Turntable Pro-ject Debut Carbon w/ Ortofon 2M Red Pro-ject Speedbox S Receiver/ Preamp Harman Kardon HK 3390 (using the built-in preamp) Speakers Pioneer SP-BS21 Bookshelf Speakers and a Pioneer Sub SW-8MK2 All of this audio equipment lives in a medium/small living room, so I don't see a huge reason to upgrade to a larger set of speakers. I have my TV and gaming consoles connected to the receiver as well. An audio technician in my area said he could take a look at the receiver and replace any damaged parts for around $120. Considering I use the receiver as an airplay base station, pre-amp, and for all A/V needs should I repair it or spring for something else? Any recommendations? I'm leaning towards the Onkyo A-9050 since it also has an optical input that I can feed my TV/ Gaming systems into. Is an optical input an improvement considering I only plan on having a 2.1 system for the foreseeable future? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
  5. Anyone know where to obtain one of these in Canada? Any I've found online don't seem to ship here. Ontario to be specific, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  6. For those who have have been hoping amazon would have an acrylic platter via prime, now is your chance. Two places just posted a bunch up on amazon with prime shipping. $125, not a discount but it's available on amazon and I know people have been looking. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2/189-3453542-2624154?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Acri-plat
  7. Hey y'all, I'm on the market for a Speed Box S for my Debut Carbon.. just figured I'd try here first if there's anybody willing to part with one for a little less than what I keep finding it for online (About $130). Also willing to trade gum, a tire pressure reader, and/or a plastic hat that looks like a football. (Seriously though if anybody has one, lemme know) Thanks!
  8. Hello, I'm in the market for a new TT. I pretty much decided on the Pro-Ject Debut III. My budget is $300. Is there a TT worth the $300 more than the Debut III? Also, it is only $300 for a limited time and I may not have the $300 to spend for a month or so. If the deal ends before I get the money and it goes back to regular price ($400, out of my price range), is the Pro-Ject Essential a good consolation? What are the notable differences? -Thanks
  9. Selling my turntable: Pro-ject Essential Table Grado Prestige Green Cart Brand New Tone Arm Rewiring Includes dust cover, power supply, built-in pre amp, and original box with documents. Only selling this because I am upgrading my table. This table is only about 2 years old and is in excellent condition. Makes a great beginner hi-fi table, especially if you are just getting into starting your collection and you want to update that shit Crosley. Invested about $180 into the $300 table. Has about 200 hours of burn in time on the needle. I'm obviously not trying to get what I paid, but more about half. So if you want this set up for about $250, give me a shout. More pictures available if needed. Price is negotiable. Direct link to photos: Thanks! Direct links to photos: http://imgur.com/smzsdQc http://imgur.com/iQoHaeV http://imgur.com/iQBiaTh
  10. I've been looking around at the higher end (compared to the Debut) Pro-Ject and Rega turntables ($1,000 to $1,500) just for fun and I was wondering what people think of some of the models. I've been looking at the Pro-Ject RPM 5.1 and the Rega RP3. Anyone have some useful opinions/experience with these? Pros and cons of both? Are there any other tables in the same price range that I should be looking at? Just looking at nicer tables for future reference.
  11. Just pulled the trigger on one of these off amazon this morning. Signed up for prime and am expecting this tomorrow (one day shipping for 3 dollhairs!). It was between this and the Azur 651P and the Rega Fono Mini. Since I have nowhere to audition these I figured if i dont like the pro-ject Ill just return it and try one of the others I had shortlisted. My question is, anyone of you guys using one of these? And if so, what do you like/dislike about it? Did it make noticable imporvement in your set-up?
  12. $450 is the price for all new Carbons I see here in Canada. Go for it or wait for a cheaper deal on the stock model? Or go vintage? Or idk EDIT: Just got it. Turns out what I forgot in the listing was that it included a Q up tonearm lifter, which is $60. Not bad. c:
  13. I have a platter for sale. It's BN never used. If you need it PM me. I'm willing to let it go for extremely cheap. Buyer pays shipping. It's just laying in it's box.
  14. I recently stumbled upon Michael Fremer's review of the Pro-ject Essential in Analog Planet. The critique of said turntable is informative, but what I found most interesting is the comparison between it and the Carbon. Basically Fremer contends that the Essential is a decent entry-level turntable, but for $100 more, you get way more bang for your buck with the Carbon. I quote ... "Here's the thing: Pro-Ject was obviously trying to give folks a serious, well-made turntable for as little as possible and in that they have succeeded. However, the Carbon for $100 more is way better than $100 better. Listening to the Carbon without being able to see it, you'd neverknow it was a $399 turntable. But listening to the Essential without seeing it, you'd know it was inexpensive (not "cheap")." I've never heard either of these tables so I have no real opinion. Still, since both come up in the entry-level turntable discussion quite a bit on VC, I figured that some of you might find the review enlightening.
  15. Hello everyone, I'm in the market for an entry level TT and I've been doing some skimming via Google through forums (such as AudioKarma and a couple threads on here) that had reviews and asked similar questions. I've noticed Needle Doctor is selling both models fitted with a Ortofon 2M Red, at around the same price. Both have enticing features, such as the Carbon's visual appeal and the Denon's automatic operation. What I wanted to know is, has anyone either owned, sampled, or had an experience with both of them which ultimately made your decision to choose one (or conversely, not wanted one) of them? Thanks in advance for any input provided.
  16. Just wondering if this acrylic platter will work on a Project Carbon Debut. If so, does anyone have any preference between the Music Hall Acri-Plat and the Pro-Ject Acryl-it?
