  1. A little over a year ago I launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the vinyl press of a chiptune cover album which recreates the entirety of "The Soft Bulletin" using only a Nintendo and a Gameboy. Unfortunately, COVID hit the world hard during the month the campaign was live and I had to cancel the project. I recently relaunched the campaign and we're currently at 71% funded with three weeks left! I know chiptunes isn't everyone's jam but I thought some people might enjoy it. I got in touch with Scott Booker (band manager) to approve the use of the band's likeness for various campaign-exclusive rewards and sent him the final cut which he shared with the band. Wayne Coyne said he dug the arrangements!

  3. First up, I have no artistic ability or technical knowledge of turntables, amps or anything else. I just have plenty of thinking time and a mind that wanders. Given that the highly pointless 4lp Zaireeka set exists, I got to thinking about building a device for playing it. It would have four identical high spec turntables and a mechanical system to drop the arms the same distance from the centre of each table at the same time. As it is impossible to line the records up in exactly the same manner, the 'random' listening experience would remain. It would have a built in amp. A friend who builds and repairs amps says it's no problem to take the eight inputs and output them as stereo. The amp could also have an eight speaker option. In my head it's cross shaped with the amp in the middle. It's brightly coloured to match the records and it's very, very expensive and would be sold to a handful of people with far too much money as an 'experience'. The profits would be used to afford my own. Anyone's interests piqued enough to go beyond ignoring this/abuse/gifs?
  4. March, 31st 2014 - (Burbank, CA.) - THE FLAMING LIPS continue to explore the rich world of PINK FLOYD with their new digital release, FLAMING SIDE OF THE MOON. Designed as an immersive companion piece to the original 1973 album, DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, listeners are encouraged to listen to the new LIPS album while listening to DARK SIDE at the same time. FLAMING SIDE OF THE MOON was also carefully crafted to sync up perfectly with the 1939 film, THE WIZARD OF OZ. For ideal listening conditions, fans are encouraged to seek out the original Alan Parsons' engineered quadraphonic LP mix of DARK SIDE, but it will work with the album on any format. Available now through all participating digital outlets. A limited edition 100 vinyl copies will be distributed to friends and family of THE FLAMING LIPS.
