  2. The dudes from Everyone, Everywhere have just put up a limited quantity of the second pressing of their second album, the self titled 2012 release up for 'Pay what you like' on their bandcamp page. Check it out. http://everyoneeverywhere.bandcamp.com/album/everyone-everywhere-2012
  3. Life changes. It’s the natural order of things. As you get older, friendships evolve, relationships fade, and surroundings change. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but trying to find your place and a sense of balance in all of life’s changes is something no one really prepares you for. The four members of Cleveland’s Signals Midwest can certainly attest to that. In eight years, they’ve borne witness to graduations and weddings, moves and funerals, new loves and heartbreak. But through it all, the one constant in the lives of vocalist/guitarist Max Stern, bassist Loren Shumaker, guitarist Jeff Russell, and drummer Steve Gibson has been this band. At This Age, the quartet’s fourth full-length album, is both a testament to change and a reflection of a band at a pivotal moment in their lives. When you’re a young punk, the idea of devoting your life to music — writing songs and traveling the country with your best friends — doesn’t seem that hard: Write songs, get in the van, and go. “Will we make any money? Will our jobs still be there when we get back? How will we pay our rent next month? Who cares? As long as we’ve got each other and this band, that’s all that matters.” It’s an ethos that guides many bands in the beginning, but after a while, it’s not an easy attitude to maintain. “I was asking myself questions like ‘How do I evolve as a person but retain what I love? How do I advance through the world but sustain the things that excited me when I was first discovering them?’” says Stern of At This Age. These are the questions that guide the album, which marks some of the band’s most stark and mature songwriting to date. “I tried to approach songs from a few different viewpoints to really explore that world,” Stern says. “This is the first time that I've written songs from a point of view other than my own, across age and gender and identity.” If Latitudes and Longitudes is a document of a band discovering their voice, and Light on The Lake is them honing in on their sound, then At This Age finds Signals Midwest hitting their stride. “It’s a much more stripped-down jammer,” Russell says, “We just had fun. Everything came naturally and it seems like we finally found our stride in the writing process.” And it shows. Produced by Into It. Over It.’s Evan Weiss and recorded at Atlas Studios in Chicago IL, At This Age might be the band’s most stripped-down songwriting, but it’s an album that sounds huge. At times urgent and anthemic, and at others intimate and poignant, At This Age isn’t just an album, it’s a part of Signals Midwest; a cathartic release of angst and anxiety and vulnerability and maturation. It’s their way of communicating with the world and navigating the creeping fear that comes with change. “This band is not only my escape from the mundane activities of everyday life,” Gibson says, “but it’s a chance to get together with some of my best friends in the world and do something that we can all be proud of.” Eight years is a long time. For a band, it’s an eternity. What does the future hold for Signals Midwest? What does the future hold for any of us? Change is perhaps the most unpredictable and inevitable force in the universe: We can’t stop it. All we can do is to try to prepare for it. In the meantime, the best we can do is stop every once in a while to appreciate the people we have in our lives in that moment — it might not last. “It's crazy to think that it's been a constant in our lives for nearly a decade,” Stern says. “That's wild. That's longer than any job or relationship I’ve ever had.” —Matt Cohen Track Listing You're Gonna Be Golden Should Have Been A Painter West Side Summer At This Age Alchemy Hour We Drive Forever Like It's Nothing Autumn Breaks Spillover Who I Was Before We Met Song For Ana Pressing Information First Pressing: 125 Turquoise w/ White Starburst 175 Opaque Light Gray/Blue 200 Opaque Tangerine 500 Black
  4. Tiny Engines just put up the preorder for their next release. Somos - Temple Of Plenty out 3/25 http://tinyengines.limitedrun.com/products/524876-somos-temple-of-plenty-lp-pre-order "There's no denying the enormity of Somos' 2012 demo—a four-song introduction whose epitomizing moment occurs during the final thirty seconds of the first track when the instruments snuff themselves out and singer Michael Fiorentino's otherwise steely voice rises into a serious, startling roar. By the time the band rebuilds itself for a final chorus, Somos has already established itself as an explosive, fiery monster that leaves its listeners smoldering. It is no surprise, then, that Somos' debut full-length, Temple of Plenty, is more enormous and more powerful than its predecessor, though they replace the scorching, sharp chords with a smoother, more expansive sound. The guitars on "Familiar Theme", for example, are clean, plucked in spinning patterns and strummed in vibrant, wavering chords—that is, until the chorus, when guitarists Phil Haggerty and Justin Hahn step on the distortion. Even then, their instruments are fully fleshed-out, enormous not because of their crunch but because of their breadth. "Dead Wrong" literally bounces, its elasticity derived from the drumming, which is deceptively complex and solid, but also the rhythm of Fiorentino's lyrics. Here, again, the weight of this third song comes not from overdrive or volume or some superficial production trick, but from its beat and dripping guitars, from Fiorentino's firm singing style—from the songwriting itself. Maybe the epitomizing moment on Temple of Plenty occurs on "Strangest Example", a song that appears in a different form on the band's demo. It's easy to feel the full one-two punch of the kick drum and the cavernous crack of his snare; trace the guitar as it winds like a vine and flowers at the end of each phrase; and, when the song climbs into its chorus, immerse oneself in the expansive, overlapping layers of melody and momentum. This re-imagining of "Strangest Example"—and, admittedly, Temple of Plenty's entirety—possesses the same power expressed on the band's 2012 demo, but it's derived from depth and finesse and the sort of velvet execution that will make Somos' first full-length one of the most impressive debuts that's likely to be released this year." 6. FUCK YES "In perhaps the worst kept secret within the fake music industry, Tiny Engines will release Dikembe's highly controversial debut release, Chicago Bowls, on vinyl for the very first time. Banned pretty much everywhere (other than the internet), Bowls, as the "kids" call it, saw the tongue and cheek celebration of two things people either love or hate, the Chicago Bulls and weed. Oh, and Freaks And Geeks too. Chicago Bowls saw an original digital release of 4/20/11. Tiny Engines will release a remastered version of the 4-song EP on 7" vinyl (rolling papers not included) in the Spring of 2013, 4/20/13 to be exact (and clever). Pre-orders to come soon. Get spliffed! It was surprising to virtually no one - save for Dikembe itself - that Chicago Bowls, in all its anthemic, adrenalized indie-cum-emo / punk greatness, took the underground by storm in 2011. The ironic, pun-laden ode to weed and arguably (and less ironically) the greatest (?) championship squad in NBA history was a breath of fresh air ... playful, charismatic and downright infectious without emitting an ounce of pretension. Four revelatory cuts of undeniable, high energy DIY rock 'n' roll, Chicago Bowls cajoled the listener to laugh along with song titles such as "Scottie Spliffen" and "Michael Jordank." There was no doubt that Dikembe's playful nature was an integral part of its singular sound. Broad Shoulders followed up Bowls to much acclaim, and while the first pressing of vinyl has sold out, the record is currently available digitally from Tiny Engines, Bandcamp, iTunes and other digital services. A second pressing of the 12-inch is now in production and pre-orders will launch in a matter of weeks. Stay tuned for more details. Also, Dikembe is currently writing for the follow-up release to Broad Shoulders and the band expects to start recording soon for a tentative Summer or Fall release on Tiny Engines. Ride or die!" http://tinyengines.limitedrun.com/news/posts/1947-dikembe-chicago-bowls-7-to-be-released-on-tiny-engines

  8. Just going through some boxes in my closet and discovered some extra Hotelier test pressings for Home and LP1 of Goodness (only Sides A/B). First, some quick background ... I was never happy with the quality of the Home, Like NoPlace Is There vinyl so last year we decided to re-master and re-cut the vinyl lacquer. I'm not sure if anyone noticed because the changes were fairly minor, but we cleaned up some things and vinyl playback is much improved. The fifth pressing (pressed at United) is this new version, as is some of the orange variant from the 4th pressing (Rainbo). If you want to confirm which version you have, check the deadwax. The old version says "TE127 A / TE127 B" while the new versions say the following .... TE127 A-RR / TE127 B-RR (Rainbo orange variant) TE127 A2-U / TE127 B-U (United 5th pressing variant) As for Goodness, we did two rounds of test pressings to start and unfortunately I don't have any extra of those. United is weird and rarely ever sends me the quantities I ask for. Round 1 - I only received 5 copies (both LPs) and round 2 ... maybe 10-15? However, we had to re-cut Sides A / B, so there's a 3rd round of tests for these and I definitely have extra. I don't know if anyone is interested in having a Goodness test pressing for LP1 and not LP2, but they're available regardless. Anyway, send me a message if you want to throw out an offer!
  9. Hi there, I'm new to selling/trading on here and also relatively new to the forums. I have a Test Pressing that I'm not very attached to and would like to see them go to someone who actually really wants them. Castevet - The Echo & The Light (black vinyl test pressing with numbered screen printed art print by Matt Leech Numbered 32/65) The Test Pressing was limited to 13 copies I only listened to this record once and would conservatively graded it as VG+ leaning more towards NM- I have a record cleaning machine and can vacuum clean them and put them in MOFI sleeves if you want. I mostly want a copy of Reel Big Fish's "Turn the Radio Off" Also, you can check out my Discogs wantlist here https://www.discogs.com/user/sgtlanky I'm also open to offers for selling these as I couldn't find much info on them selling to really give a firm price, though I would prefer to trade them. Since I'm new around here, I want to also show I'm not a shitty seller/buyer Here's a link to my Ebay account: http://www.ebay.com/usr/sgtlanky And to my Discogs https://www.discogs.com/user/sgtlanky Hope we can work something out!
  10. For over 8 years Tiny Engines has been on the forefront of vinyl technology and development, but not until today has a record label attempted something so innovative and groundbreaking. Mark it on your calendar, folks: we're about to break the internet. This weekend, take 15% off nearly everything in our webstore with code july4! Minds blown, right? But prepare to have your brain matter scattered throughout the universe even further when you visit our Sales section. Here you'll find nearly 30 titles that have been discounted an additional 20-50% percent! No code needed for these giant, mother-honking savings, but you can still use the july4 code for a total discount of up to 65%. C'mon guys ... this deal can't be beat! In fact, the Supreme President of the Coalition of Cool Records Labels just called to congratulate us on on this monumental achievement of "kicking some major ass." Her words, not mine. That's right - the supreme president of the CoCRL is a woman, because this is America, dammit. In conclusion, can you imagine how proud your parents will be when you tell them that their lazy, no-good sack of a son / daughter finally got a job and you plan on using your first paycheck to buy a bunch of Tiny Engines records for a what is basically the cost of 6 bags of drainage gravel? The adulation will never stop. Prepare to be loved by everyone and immortalized in the history books. You're welcome, world!
  11. RIYL: Krill, Cloud Nothings, Les Savy Fav, Japandroids, Unwound Confirmation Bias, the sophomore LP from Chicago's Yeesh is now available for pre-order via Tiny Engines (out 7/22). You can stream a brand new song at Stereogum, which had this to say about the album... "Yeesh put out their impressively nervy debut No Problem in 2015 after a few years of gestating in the Chicago scene, and they’re following it up with Confirmation Bias, their sophomore LP and first for rock powerhouse Tiny Engines. It sees the trio tightening up their already tightly-coiled post-punk to the point of strangulation." Definitely one of my favorite additions to the 2016 Tiny Engines roster here, but kind of a tough one to pin down. Yeesh embraces elements of noise-pop, post-punk and even Dischord-styled hardcore. It's all endearingly fuzzy and rough-around-the-edges, but unmistakably catchy and intricately layered. Give the new track a spin. The band's debut LP No Problem is pretty awesome as well! Yeesh will embark on a short tour of the Midwest and East Coast beginning on May 20th. A more extensive tour of the U.S. in support of the record is being booked in August. Stay tuned for additional updates and another song premiere! 12. Hey Everyone. Chuck from Tiny Engines here. I'm selling some of my personal test pressings from the label to fund a little project that I'm working on. I've got one or two extra tests from (mostly) the entire catalog. This includes releases from The Hotelier (both LPs), Somos, Beach Slang, Cayetana, Restorations, Dikembe and more. There may be a couple things that I'm not willing to part with, but it doesn't hurt to ask. As I mentioned in the title, I also have a rare Spirit Desire 7-inch test from Tigers Jaw available. This is from the 2nd pressing, right after we switched vinyl manufacturing plants from Erika to Rainbo. Because we made the switch, we had to get new tests. Only FOUR were made. This is a hot item. HOT, I TELL YA! Email me at [email protected] for the fastest response. You can message me here, but I don't check the forum all that much. You can check out our discography here: http://tinyengines.limitedrun.com/discography
