  1. Hi, I'm looking to change my current set-up. I have an RCA LAB 1200 turntable, an Optimus STAV 3580 receiver, and currently two big floor speakers. The speakers were rebuilt by a friend many years ago and they are good. However I need to move the set-up to a smaller room and so I'd like to get smaller speakers that will take up less space and also speakers that can give good quality sound at a lower volume. So one question is, how small can I go and still get decent bass? I don't want thumping bass, but I want the bass to have a good presence. I listen to rock, some blues and soul, indie, and some roots music (examples would be Fleetwood Mac, REM, Natalie Merchant, Leon Bridges, Kristen Diable, The Besnard Lakes, Queen, and Zep). I'd love to get something good for under $300 (who wouldn't) but would consider spending up to around $500 if it's going to give me good sound. Recommendations??? I also welcome feedback on the turntable and receiver. Thanks.
  2. Just moved into a new apartment and I think I am going to have to do some gear juggling to get a proper set up to fit. I have a pair of Epos Epic 2's in pretty much brand new condition. No signs of wear, and have only had them since about July. I still have the box and packaging and all the paperwork. They're an awesome pair of speakers and I wish I could keep them, they are just a little too big for what my apartment will allow. Its weird because my new apartment is twice the size of my old but the floorplan is keeping me from getting these bad boys in a good position in my living room. It would ship FedEx Ground, unless you wanted to up the shipping to priority or 2Day, thats up to you. Youll get a tracking number as well. I am a shipping manager so these babies will be taken care of in transit, all the negative space filled with bubble wrap to prevent them from jumping around. I can take pictures later when I get home from work for whoever is interested. PS I am just trying to gauge interest right now, I am busy unpacking and getting settled in the new apartment. If you are interested, the soonest I would be able to ship is next Monday. Thanks in advance!
  3. I'm looking for a pair of bookshelf speakers that I'll be using to listen to a ProJect Carbon TT with an SEII preamp and a nice receiver (haven't picked one) I'm hoping to stay below 300 but I will increase a bit if I have to for a SIGNIFICANT increase in quality and soundstage Not going to be in a huge room so my main criteria: Needs to be timbre matched and expandable to a 5.1 setup (will eventually become the surround left and right) Great soundstage is probably most important, that's my biggest thing Clear and crisp quality Ability to get a bit louder without distortion (not too loud) Good value I will be listening to literally everything from hardcore to indie to orchestral to rap. I listen to a lot of acoustic which is why clarity and soundstage are super important to me, I love being able to pick out subtleties (as a musician myself) Thanks for any help you guys can give me!
