  3. Other Houses - "Fortune Selector" MLP Format: White label, hand numbered, hand stamped 12" vinyl, cassette, digital Pre-order Vinyl and Cassettes Music Video for "Me as Periodicals" Fortune Selector is the new MLP from Brooklyn, NY, garage-pop band Other Houses, and their debut on the Iron Pier record label. The solo brainchild of Morgan Enos (Hheaven, Hollow Sunshine, Medium Mystic), this is Other Houses’ confident first blast as a full-fledged rock band. The jangly "Bad Ace" reveals a power-pop heart, while the anxious garage rocker "Me as Periodicals" recalls Elliott Smith. Acidic, wry, and absolutely packed with hooks, this is Other Houses’ strongest release to date, and marks a new era for Enos' prolific songwriting. Fortune Selector is the third entry in Iron Pier’s Mini-LP series, a home for releases with album-length concepts but shorter run times. Fortune Selector follows Hollow Sunshine’s Bible Sea and Self Defense Family’s Colicky. The first edition of Fortune Selector is available as a limited edition white-label 12”, a cassette, and digitally.
  4. Piss Test formed in Portland, Oregon when drummer Rodrigo Diaz was mandated to urinate in a plastic jar in order to secure steady work. Rodrigo brought up the idea of forming a punk band idea to former Red Don, Zach Brooks. They decided to forgo looking for a bass player, and teach Zach’s better-half Samantha Gladu to play. Rodrigo and Zach figured the last thing the world needs is another punk band with three aging dudes. After all, the couple-plus-a-drummer lineup worked for Dead Moon. And like Toody before her, Samantha quickly became the driving force of the band, making it her mission to encourage women to start bands and telling the creeps to fuck off. What’s with the Dead Moon references? Piss Test don’t sound like Dead Moon! None of them even own a leather vest. You would like specific references? Think about the angrier side of early Texas or SoCal punk, with a dose of the Great Pacific Northwest (where bands can’t help but sound a little bit like The Wipers). Piss Test have also had several comparisons to Proletariat, which they weren’t really going for, but don’t complain about. Following their debut album and a few seven-inches on various labels, Piss Test toured under the clever ruse of being the “biggest band in Europe” because Germans don’t understand irony. The band will be back to Europe in the Fall of 2017 (if their new authoritarian leader permits it). On the new record, some songs are funny; some songs are serious; but none are autobiographical. 100 on red vinyl/400 on black. Comes with a download code. 11. Hey folks, I help out a bit with Little L Records, an Irish label that's been releasing limited-run tapes (and occasionally records) for the past few years. We've now got nearly 100 releases spanning diverse styles/genres/continents under our belt and are excited for what's yet to come. A few of our most popular release include titles by Panucci's Pizza, flatsound, and Yvette Young. You can check out our almost entirely free digital back catalogue on Bandcamp. And read up on our artists or browse our store on Limited Run. If you've grabbed tapes from us in the past, it'd be cool to see some pictures!
  12. Like many of you, I follow SlyVinyl just to keep up. After learning that a band called Kill West was releasing an album on vinyl, I also learned of its previous tape incarnation which led me to this small label. Ongakubaka Records only houses four albums under the label so far, but they're all melty ass-kickin psych-garage hits that deserve to be heard. http://ongakubakarecords.bandcamp.com/ 4-5 dollar tapes in that link. For those of you wanting the Kill West vinyl, the link is here: http://www.echodrug.com/store 100 on splatter, 200 on clear smoke vinyl. Some really great record/tape covers in there too, goddamn. Didn't take me long to develop a cult-like following to this label.
  13. this is my first post here. i remember a thread on here years ago in regards to an issue between EvilWeevil records and cousin brian's 7" EP. funny stuff. i just looked it up again. Cousin Brian (philadelphia) has a new album. all the tracks are done and were looking for someone to release it. Still the same old down home up beat morrissey worship college rock with perry farrell on vocals, chimey guitars (SO CLEAN AND CHORUSY) and harmonies you can feel sound - but, these new recordings feature a hi-fi twist not unlike, but certainly not touched on in cousin brian's "First" LP (2012). These songs have a wet feel. It sounds like water sometimes. check out three tracks here: Closer to Dog 2015 here is a link to a recently video for Disposer off of the First LP: youtube video of disposer by cousin brian
  14. Today marks the release of the excellent full length by THE VALENTEENS entitled "Fuzzed Out Tone for the Painfully Alone" on cassette courtesy of HIP KID and ICE AGE RECORDS. Pop songs played at 45 rpm, with the volume and ferocity pushed to the brink of destruction. Drums explode through thick walls of fuzz and distortion to make room for the hooks, while the melody-laden vocals help navigate through the forest of noise, leading you towards the light and onto the dance floor. Don't you wanna??? Listen/download at http://hipkidrecords.bandcamp.com Pick up a copy at http://hipkidrecords.storenvy.com
