So sometimes I like to go on bandcamp and go to the best selling vinyl releases section and pick out random records to check out. Sometimes I stumble on good stuff, sometimes terrible stuff. The album only has one track streaming at the moment, the 7 and a half minute light leaks - it floored me, such beautiful guitar, a fragile voice and toward the end the intricacies and details really hit hard in the feels. So I've been playing guitar for about 2- 2 1/2 years now. Mostly it has just been covering songs and learning parts of songs that I really like. However, more recently I have been interested in learning the theory to guitar, as in how it all works, chord structures, why certain chords progressions work, etc. I was wondering if anyone could give me any kind of tips with an approach to learning these things/practicing. I have been playing guitar for a little over 2 years. I have always played on an acoustic guitar and have wanted an electric guitar for a while. The extent to which i play is in my apartment and occasionally with friends at their houses. I'm finally buying one today and have decided on an Epiphone Les Paul Custom after playing one a few times in store and checking out other guitars. A couple of things: Anyone have any feedback on this guitar? Is this a solid choice for my first electric? When looking for an amp, what should i look for/avoid? I have for sale one of the first run of Verellen Meatsmoke Preamplifiers. This one is numbered BV #15 and includes the provided power supply cable. Selling because I thought it didn't really suit my sound quite as well as my other amps do, so I rarely used it. It has about 90-120 minutes of use on it. The wood panels are custom stained natural. It's in the same condition as when I bought it and I still have the box and packing that it shipped in. I have to note though, that I recently found out the entire first run of these used an incorrect resistor, so they sent me the correct component, so that is obviously included. I hadn't used it for about 6 months before finding this out, and have obviously not used it since. There is a video which demostrates how to perform the modification and it is simple and easy and only takes about 5-10 minutes to perform (that's if you are comfortable with soldering, I am not.) Or you could bring it to a tech and have them perform the mod, can't see it costing more than $10-$20. It's an extremely versatile unit since you can use it with electric bass or electric guitar. You can use it as a distortion pedal in front of your amp, you can run it into your FX loop to use as a pre-amp, you can even run direct to ProTools or other DAW and there is a built in speaker simulator for this application.
