  1. from their facebook post earlier today: "as many of you have noticed, we've posted some major updates to the KOLS bandcamp page. for those of you who haven't seen yet, i'll wait a few minutes while you go and check it out: www.kolsband.bandcamp.com okay, you back now? cool. so here's what's going on. we're going to try to make that page as complete of a resource as possible with the hopes that all of your years of searching for seemingly "lost" KOLS tracks can be resolved. we've already posted more than 40 albums, live sets, comps, and rarities collections, and there will be more in the coming months. if you have something you think we don't have, please hit us up with a private message here containing a dropbox link so we can download it, and as much detail as possible about what exactly you're sending, and we'll add it to the page. we're making almost everything on the page available for free download (save for a few exceptions where we really want you to support the label that put it out), but you always have the option to donate some money as well. if you do choose to donate, or you have already, thank you. honestly. we want you to know that we're going to be sending that money to a good cause. it will be going to the fine people at Apna Ghar, Inc., which is a foundation that provides holistic services and conducts advocacy across immigrant communities to end gender violence. what does that mean, exactly? well, immigrant survivors of gender violence in the United States face unique challenges, including limited access to legal, social, protective and support services. Apna Ghar provides comprehensive and holistic services to survivors as they begin their journeys of healing and empowerment. they also conduct community education and address systemic barriers that immigrant survivors face. we find them to be a very worthy cause, and that is who we are choosing to support. every dollar you can spare counts, especially when you consider the fact that just within the last 24 hours there have been more than 200 unique downloads. if you still want to download our material for free, please do so. that's why it's up there. or if you would rather support a different cause with your money instead, please donate to them on your own after you grab some tunes from us. we just want these recordings in the hands of as many people as possible, and as easily accessible moving forward as possible. we've been lucky enough over the past 20 years or so to have made friends and gained fans all over the world. if every download from the page came with even a 50 cent donation, though, imagine what a difference we could make... if you would like any more information on Apna Ghar, you can visit their website: http://www.apnaghar.org/ thank you, as always, for your continued support. it's always meant a lot. -KOLS" pretty rad. dude's been putting out music for 20 years and is still finding ways to be relevant and shape the scene. heard he's got a super pro studio out in Portland now where he's recording deserving bands for next to nothing, just so they can have the experience of being in a high quality studio when they otherwise would probably never get that chance. anyway, figured a lot of you might be into a lot of the stuff that's been posted on the bandcamp page. a lot of it is super fucking rare.
  2. hey everybody! for the last 10 months or so, i've been putting together a compilation of Motown covers to be released on my label, Artistic Integrity Records. this is the third time i've done a covers compilation with the label, and as great as i think the first two turned out, this one absolutely takes the cake. the bands are great. the songs are incredible. and the artwork... *swoon* it will be released on New Year's Day on the AIR bandcamp page, specifically at this link: https://artisticintegrityrecords.bandcamp.com/album/air-028-not-the-same-old-songs-a-tribute-to-motown here's the track listing (so far)... "Insane" by Bullnettle "Please Mr. Postman" by Wayne Stahl "Do You Love Me" by Nervous Passenger "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" by Bob Nanna "Dancing In The Street" by The Please And Thank Yous "My Girl" by Dogjaw "It's The Same Old Song" by Warren Franklin & The Founding Fathers "Get Ready" by Mean Sean "You Can't Hurry Love" by Chris Farren "You Keep Me Hangin' On" by Kittyhawk "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Sean Rule "I Wish It Would Rain" by Jackson Mud "You're All I Need To Get By" by Jack & Ace "I Want You Back" by Sincere Engineer "I'll Be There" by Big Deal & The Who Cares? "Tears Of A Clown" by Thanks Dad "Hello" by Kind Of Like Spitting if you want to get some more detailed information about any of the songs or the bands participating, feel free to follow the AIR facebook page. this will be a digital only release, like the other comps we've done, but this one has kind of a neat twist. if you'd like to support the label and want some cool Motown shit, i have a bunch of old Motown 45s that i'm shipping out to anybody who donates $5 or more. just click the merch link on the bandcamp page to make your purchase, and i'll ship out one random record to you. i have just about 100 of them ready to go, so if you want one, act fast. as always, if you have any questions about this or any other release, shoot me an e-mail at [email protected] or Like us on facebook/message me there and i'll be happy to chat. thanks, as always, for your support. January 1, 2016 will be AIR's 28th release, and the 4th anniversary of the release of AIR-001. i'm so happy to still be going strong, and it's all thanks to you guys. -dan
