  1. Hey guys, I’m planning on upgrading the integrated amp portion of my set up and I’ve narrowed it down to either the NAD 3020 V2 or a Marantz PM5005. I like the size and simplicity of the NAD but Marantz are timeless. Thoughts on either would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Can't decide between which integrated amp to buy, ive decided on wharfdale diamond 220 speakers and a Rega planar 1 turntable. Options for the amp are: Marantz pm5005 Yamaha AS201 Pioneer A10 I've read reviews of all amplifiers and they all seem good for my price range, was wondering if anyone had some first hand experience with any of the amplifiers that could help me decide on which one to pick up Cheees Tom
  3. My receiver gets pretty hot after short time i use it, and was wondering if that was normal. I was also wondering if anyone recommends i buy a fan for it, and if so which fan should i get?
  4. First off, I'm new around these parts and relatively new to vinyl in general. So forgive me if this is a n00b question. I have recently come up on an 80s belt drive Marantz turntable. Its nothing fancy, probably a low end model for the 80s... but its an upgrade on the Crosley my wife got me as a gift a while back. Anyways, it was playing and sounding great, until I switched to 45RPMs to play a 7 inch (the speed switches with a simple button... no adjustment). After that, all my records are playing slight higher RPM, both when played at 33 or 45RPM. I've taken off the platter and inspected the belt and components for gunk and couldn't find any. Any advice?
  5. I hate creating new threads for this kind of stuff when I know there are tons of other threads about amps, but I feel like everyone's situation is different and we are all asking different questions and looking for different answers so here goes... Here is my current setup: Pro-ject Debut Carbon with standard Ortofon 2M Red MM Cartridge Denon AVR-810 Receiver Epos Epic 1 Bookshelf speakers I am looking to upgrade to an integrated amp and I am having a hard time making a decision. These are the ones I am looking at... Yamaha A-S300 Yamaha A-S500 Onkyo A-9050 Marantz PM6004 Honestly I really don't want to spend over $350 but I can't say I'm not considering that Marantz so I have to throw it in there. I'm not one to blast my speakers ever really so I am wondering what I would lose if I were to go with a Yamaha A-S300 over the A-S500. Also, have any of you had any experience with Onkyo Integrated Amplifiers? What are your thoughts on the Onkyo A-9050? Also, what are your thoughts on 2-channel receivers? The Yamaha A-S500BL looks like a good option, and I like the idea of having a tuner, but what am I losing by going with a receiver over an integrated amp?
  6. Long story short, I bought a pair of Paradigm 9se speakers 10+ years ago, used them for a bit then loaned them to a friend when I moved into a small apartment and forgot all about them. He recently returned them and I thought I'd like to use them as part of a budget friendly system - thinking of pairing with the Marantz PM 6004. Does anyone have any experience with this amp and these speakers? HOWEVER, as you can see from the pics, all four dust caps have been pushed in to some varying degree. Do I attempt to fix these? If so, how? Or do I leave them as is and see how they sound once I get the amp? TL/DR - look at these pics and tell me what to do!
  7. I had the front end on my girl's Mercury Cougar XR7 go out the other day with only 75k miles on it. She couldn't afford to have it replaced, so I had it replaced. My wallet is aching due to low hours at work and this situation, so pretty much anything and everything is up for grabs right now, minus my turntable/integrated amp/speakers. I'm just gonna post the majority of my tradelist, and I might toss in some new stuff I picked up in the past 2 weeks that I haven't added yet. It will be hard to let some of this go, and I will only let it go for a good price. I need to earn as much as I can as quickly as possible. I can also provide graphic design services at a discounted rate for you guys, too. ANYTHING is up for grabs for the right price. If it has no price, message me and make an offer, or email me at [email protected]. Mixed Electronics: Marantz AV-9000 HDAM Processor/Pre-Amp - This was Marantz's top of the line a decade ago or so. Works perfectly and is in great cosmetic condition. It includes a power cable, professional RCA cable to connect it to an amp, a printed owner's manual and user's guide on CD. $220 for VC members and less if you don't want the Marantz touchscreen remote, retailed for $1999. Kenwood KM-207 Power Amplifier - Powerful, great working amp. 150W/channel at 8 ohms, 250W/channel at 4 ohms. In good cosmetic shape, just signs of normal use. $75 Kenwood KM-106 Power Amplifier - Powerful and great sounding amp. 125W/channel at 8 ohms. Was in great working shape, think a fuse has blown out. My guy told me it would be around $30 to have it fixed. Shows normal signs of use, in good shape. $50 Roberts 450 Reel-to-Reel Stereo Player/Recorder - Vintage, in amazing shape, missing one small rubber sleeve on the wheel that helps feed the tape into the second reel, can be replaced with one from any Roberts/Akai unit. 100% working. $100 Pioneer CT-W502-R Duel Cassette Deck - Needs new belts to work properly. Powers on and looks good cosmetically. $40 Marantz RC-5200 Touchscreen Remote - Hailed as the best touchscreen audio/video control center under $1000. Similar to a Phillips Pronto. Control your TV, Pre-Amp, Amp, DVD Player, CD player, and more. Only issue is that the battery doesn't hold a charge like it used to anymore. Retails for $599. Since it's programmed to work with the pre-amp already... if you buy the pre-amp I'll just add this in. Otherwise, it's $50. Includes the remote, remote dock, and dock A/C plug. I also have a nice Marantz DVD/CD/SACD player that I might sell if anyone is interested. Records: (Shipping will be $4, 50 cents for each additional record that I can properly fit in the same mailer. I am low on mailers as they were mostly trashed a few weeks ago, I do have cardboard to make more though) 7" Aldo Nova - Fantasy At the Drive-In - Alfaro, Vive Carajo!
