  1. Chiller - S/T 12" is officially out 2/2/2018 but records are here and preorders are shipping. This is a split release between Dirt Cult (US) and Rockstar (Europe) Records. Each label has 40 limited edition burnt orange copies (already about half gone from us) CHILLER - S/T 12" After relocating to Ottawa for a brief stint, Monctonians Ilisha and Eric need to get their demons out, so they sought out local buds Erin (Black Tower) and Tim (Mother's Children" to play in what has rightly been deemed as a continuation of Feral Trash (Dirt Cult Records), but with a new name. With Ilisha now on lead guitars instead of drums and sharing the songwriting duties with Eric, Chiller are ready to share their music with the world with this, their first release. Much like Feral Trash, fans of Masshysteri, Hysterese, Allvaret, and The Stops should be thrilled by this record. Bandcamp stream/download US pre-order link European pre-order link
  2. Cheap Whine - ST LP, now up for Pre-Order. Out Friday 14th July. Cheap Whine sound like classic 70s punk always sounds in your head, but somehow never quite lives up to. Nagging powerpop melodies, frantic energy in abundance and enough snot to fill a swimming pool – mind you, that shouldn’t come as a surprise once you learn who’s involved. Steve Adamyk has been crafting nuggets of two-minute genius with his own band and Sedatives for the last decade, while Eric French makes sweet, sweet trash pop with Feral Trash. Add the powerhouse drumming of Crusades’ Jordy Bell and you’ve got a recipe for mind-blowing, heart-racing magic, which they serve up in deliciously moreish chunks. Marked Men/Chinese Telephones/Ringers fans, listen up. They sing like they just got turfed out of a bar for throwing peanuts at playboys, and they play like they’re skating through plate glass windows. The ideal amount of fucks are given. What’s more, in closing tracks Best Times and Letter to J, they might just have written the perfect one-two suckerpunch combo of powerpop classics. I’ll take two. Will Fitzpatrick. 3. I might be alone in being really excited about this, but Jim Bryson is releasing a new record next month. His record the North Side Benches is still one of my favourites. If you've clicked this due to the familiarity of the name given that he made a record with the Weakerthans, I encourage you to take a listen to the rest of his stuff - it's pretty great. $22.50 via Amazon.ca or $24.99 on Maple Music. I also imagine it will make its way to stores...
  4. Big Dick - Disappointment LP "out" Feb 24th, but since I already have the records I've decided to go ahead and post it on the website. Big Dick return with their second LP! The band is due featuring drums, bass, and dueling vocals from Ottawa, Canada. Named after a NOMEANSNO song, Big Dick has cultivated a sound that borders on progressive punk and post-hardcore, while also gravitating towards both the melodic and absurdly heavy. This is a band equally at ease with their penchant for 90's ear Canadian indie rock as they are with the punk, hardcore, and noise rock bands of the last three decades - the result being a memorable listening experience that breaks down traditional sub-genre party lines. Dissapointment serves as an anthemic celebration of failure and inquietute for fans of Death from Above, Japandroids, and more Stream: punknews Order (limited to 100 on blue vinyl): dirtcultrecords
