biodigitaljazz
No longer needed in my set-up, but is sure to find a home with someone else- this is a great solid piece of audio equipment that retails for $150 new, and the condition practically is that. Comes with power adapter and original box.
xxmartinxx
This was mine. It sounds great for the money. I think he's going to find that the Cambridge is a downgrade, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Requiescat
Tardcore
Might be interested...that's a pretty good price and it is almost certainly an upgrade vs the onboard phono stage in my PM6004 (cue snarky comment)
dethrock
Not trying to hijack this or anything but a somewhat local audio store is sending me an Azur 551p to test out. It gets here today can't wait to play around with it.
biodigitaljazz
Tard would this really be an upgrade? I has assumed that was the purpose of integrated amps and that marantz is really highly regarded. Let me know what you think dethrok
jmorris
Hi, is this still available? Do you take paypal? John

I think he's going to find that the Cambridge is a downgrade, but the heart wants what the heart wants. The 551p is MM only so it's not a direct comparison function wise, that would be the 651p but I would be interested to hear the comparison sound wise as the 551p is a nice sounding phono stage for the money (at UK prices anyway)

xxmartinxx
Have you tried this with your new stereo?
biodigitaljazz
No sir I've been rocking the onboard phono stage and pretty satisfied really. Think it's better than the onboard?
Requiescat
No sir I've been rocking the onboard phono stage and pretty satisfied really. Think it's better than the onboard? Depends. What's your receiver or preamp? You said a Marantz? Model?
biodigitaljazz
Nope, my new stereo is a Pioneer SX 980 into HPM 100s. Its all from the 70s, I figured it's pretty good. Sounds great to my ears so far...
Requiescat
Well, I guess the most important question would be then, "Which do you feel sounds better to you?" And that's the one I'd stick with. Seems like you've already made up your mind. Good luck with the sale anyway. It's a fair price.
biodigitaljazz
I just figured I could sell this to somebody needing it since I'm satisfied with the onboard preamp. This is an awesome piece of equipment sure to serve well whoever buys it.
xxmartinxx
Try it. It should sound better than the onboard phono stage. You might be even more satisfied.
allenh
Try it. It should sound better than the onboard phono stage. You might be even more satisfied. Never sell anything before you try it, just because you don't like it into one amplifier and speaker set it can sound totally different into another and also quite possibly be better than the onboard one. Unless you try it you will never know.
ajxd
I would say a 30 year old preamp COULD sound better... buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, try the new pre.
biodigitaljazz
I'm not noticing a huge difference, me thinks. The receiver is interesting- it has tape inputs and no selector for them- they're just always on. I accidentally had the table -> pre into those and the volume was way low because AUX was selected. I turned AUX off and the volume blasted almost past distortion. Right now I have the pre into AUX as opposed to table right into the phono stage. I daresay the phono sounded better to my ears. Is there a technical reason that could make that so?
xxmartinxx
Audio gear is an art as much as it is a science. If you don't hear a difference, or like the on board phono stage more, go with that.
