Turntable Speed off?

Recommended Posts

Hey... I have a Technics SL-1800 mk2 and the speed seems to have gone off.  With the pitch set to 0 the little dots on the side of the platter don't stand still anymore.  It's not way off or anything, they just move ever so slightly now.  Should I just adjust the pitch until I get them to stand still or is there more to it?  Or do I trust the pitch at 0 and not the dots?

Thanks!

Adjust the pitch control until they stand still. The strobe doesn't lie.

From what Ive read on the internet, spraying deoxit on the pots seems like it could fix your issue. I would look into it a little more as Ive never done it.

there are sometimes other potentiometers to set the 0 point and all of these controls do get dirty with time, the other option is that a capacitor or fixed resistor has gone out of tolerance but give the adjustable ones a clean first.
