SELF DEFENSE FAMILY
SUPERIOR

On the new four-song EP, 'Superior', Self Defense Family presents some of its darkest material to date. Themed around the movement to make the Upper Peninsula the 51st state, this is cold winds over permafrost. This is Christian Death meets Death In June meets Death meets actual loss of life. It's Killing Joke in their Iceland apocalypse phase. If you could mainline 'bummer' this would be it. Captured by Taylor Young at The Pit (Twitching Tongues, Rotting Out) for maximum gloom.

Deathwish will have these in a few weeks

i've decided the only artists i'm going to buy records from anymore are Self Defense Family and Bonnie "Prince" Billy.  don't ask why.  i don't know.  but that's how it is and it feels good.

Aside from a random pick up here and there, SDF stuff is all I have been buying record-wise. I'm okay with that.

Man, it sucks but listening to Pat's podcast has made me like this band less lately. He's like 35 but talks with the mentality of a headstrong early 20-something. I can't help but apply that to the music, which sucks.

Also, Superior was unbelievably a snooze so maybe that has something to do with it.

if anyone needs the "two genuine oddities from our distant past" lathe, fake crab still has a few it looks like. I ordered one awhile back and it showed up pretty quick
