Where to get a record appraised?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.  The other day I found a Velvet Underground and Nico Verve V-5008 (mono) at a garage sale.  It has the yellow DJ only label on the record.  I'm not a record expert and was wondering if there was an online service that I could get this record appraised and graded for condition.  I live in Philadelphia if anyone knows a local place.

Thanks,

John

Well, there are a ton of versions of this pressed. Honestly, I would narrow down your search by using www.discogs.com, check recent history and go from there until you decide to try and flip it to some sap. Some of these are not that valuable, some are. All depends on the details.

If that's the one, it will really depend on condition, the cover, etc. But, that is a pretty desirable Velvet record. Here is another resource for you. Make sure your Matrix Markings match.

http://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=velvet+underground+v-5008&x=0&y=0

And if you sell, be fair and honest. Good luck.

Condition wise, could be 300+. If this was truly a garage sale, nice find.

Thanks for the information.  I would like to be real accurate with my grading.  Do you know of any services which will grade my record?

Take it to a local record store. Probably your best bet.
