GMay
Had no problem spending $50 on the Bleed American 3xLP. Probably won't have a problem spending around $35 for Futures.
drummerboy032
I don't understand the love for "Futures". I think that album is the beginning of the end of Jimmy Eat World. Wow really!? Futures is a close second to Clarity for me... agaetisbyrjun
dapeebs
Wow really!? Futures is a close second to Clarity for me...Futures has to be in my top 10 favorite albums.
harley
Clarity is my favorite, and my first JEW record. That and Alkaline Trio's first lp wore my record player out in 1999. Bleed American has a strong argument to be the best album, but Clarity has a special place for me. Futures is great, but it is almost too slick or something...I think the rawness of Clarity is what gives it that extra charm. Not as raw as Static and I guess, sweeter or something. Perfect. Futures seemed to take the softest, and most slick aspects of Bleed American and carry them forward. Nothing wrong with that. I would imagine that of those three albums, peoples' favorites gravitate around the album they listened to first or the most.
futures
Static Prevails is underrated.
gmoney
I would imagine that of those three albums, peoples' favorites gravitate around the album they listened to first or the most. This seems to always be the case with Jimmy Eat World. Applies to me for sure - Clarity all the way.
dreamover
But there is one dreamover post full of disdain. just trying to keep everyone grounded. to be fair, they've been teasing reissues for years... but now that there's a modern vinyl post about it, i'm sure they'll be out real soon. Cool, I sure hope it happens. I will be grabbing a couple of them for sure.

mmhmm
There are so many good b-sides from the Futures sessions...I'd rather see those included on extra LP than the deluxe edition demos. Also, it would be amazing if they included "Jen." Love that jam.
glass realms
They could easily get rid of the etching on the 4th side of Futures and "Shame," "When I Want," "You," and "Sparkle."
tape
"Shame" was already on the vinyl release, even with the etching.

dapeebs
Where can you get the futures deluxe songs? I thought it was just the regular version and then the other version I have with demos of all the songs off of it
glass realms
Demo versions of "When I Want" and "You" are on the "Pain" and "Futures" US 7" singles.Final studio versions of "When I Want," "Shame," "You," and "Sparkle" are on the Japanese deluxe edition CD."Jen" is on advanced promo CDs of the album. glass realms
Yeah, but the Trombino sessions are a whole other thing in itself.

Tom Delonge's UFO
This thread made me revisit Futures. It's a pretty great album. I could probably go with out the slower songs, but all in all I really think it holds up well to their best material. I haven't heard anything besides the singles that came out after this record, worth checking out?

I haven't heard anything besides the singles that came out after this record, worth checking out? Speaking as a huge fan of the band... no, not really (in my opinion of course). It's not that it's all bad as such, there just isn't really much that compares to Futures and what came before it. Although, if you haven't listened to the Stay on My Side Tonight EP, you should really check that one out. Oh and they're still very much worth checking out live. Still play plenty of oldies in their setlists.
sergeantscruffy
This is super old news. Spoke to Rick last year, he said they are working to reissue "everything" with the exception of Singles because he was "not sure how much interest there would be in that one." Love Futures and Chase This Light is one of my favorite albums

Although, if you haven't listened to the Stay on My Side Tonight EP, you should really check that one out. Chase This Light is a great record. Let It Happen, Carry You (which was originally a Go Big Casino song), Firefight, & Dizzy are my favorites. I also felt that the b-sides from this record were some of their strongest: Be Sensible, Open Bar Reception & Distraction. My favorites off Invented are Heart Is Hard To Find, Higher Devotion, Stop, Cut, and Invented. I wish Anais made the record. I think as far as maintaining a specific sound throughout a record, Invented is probably the closest to Futures. It puts you in a mood that's almost indescribable. As for Damage, I like Appreciation, Lean, I Will Steal You Back (single), No Never, and Byebyelove. Step One is the only b-side I know of aside from the alternate version of You Were Good. This record is still growing on me. & as Burkazoid said, the Stay On My Side Tonight EP is fantastic.
ns2joel
Saw them on Sunday, definitely gonna pick a few of these up. I too don't know what people see in Futures. It's ok.
