So I was super pissed to find out that when buying the vinyl edition of Max's SLEEP, the download is for the 1hr version! I must of missed this, but thought for sure, they would say, "hey you just dropped $33 on an LP we can give you the intended product digitally that costs us virtually nothing...."

NOPE!

Anyone have the 8-hr version that wouldn't mind helping a brother out who just bought the LP thinking he'd have both! :(

Also:

Nils and Olafur update! There is a 2-CD collection coming out combining all their collaborative work (stare, love & glory, Loon, and a soundtrack) sadly no vinyl for the entire thing, but of course there is the 10", 7" and 12" for the first 3, no vinyl for the soundtrack)

A contender for (ambient) AOTY, no doubt... A collaboration between Thomas Meluch (Benoît Pioulard) and Kyle Dunn (Kyle Bobby Dunn),

-PERILS self-titled 12" LP

Check out 2 tracks above, 1 with the ambient gusto you'd expect, the other with Benoit classic vocals...This is an album not to be missed. I am not sure of the pressing info on this, but I cant image its huge, so I'd make sure to grab a copy in the coming months...http://www.desirepathrecordings.com/releases/perils-perils/

PERILS began auspiciously in 2012 at transitional points in these artists’ lives. Kyle was living in a small town called Belleville, Ontario trying to complete Kyle Bobby Dunn and The Infinite Sadness (Students of Decay) and coming to grips with the fact that this great endeavor was at its end. Given the enormity of the record and the emotionally and physically exhausting process of recording the album, Kyle found himself drained with unforeseen questions and confusions. Working only at night, Kyle immersed himself into this newfound nocturnal work, finding a path in the midst of wondering. Thomas, meanwhile, was in a state of literal transition: uprooting from the UK and relocating to Seattle during the recording process of PERILS. In a state of flux, nearly drowning under the anxieties of living on uncertain ground, Thomas channeled these emotions into musical escapades. Thomas recorded in his spare moments, sending sonic puzzle pieces one by one to Kyle, who would in turn explore the musical sentiments Thomas had shared, adding his own billowing sounds to the seething mix.

The ten pieces created for this release are culled from a poutine- and whisky-fueled trudge through the dark corridors of an as-yet undiscovered or possibly imaginary mystic temple. Commencing with the shimmering guitar and tape loops of “Colours Hide My Face,” the album crawls out of the grooves with a slow-churning turmoil, coaxing the listener to embark along its path. The dirge-like guitar clang and vocals of “(Dead in the) Creekbed Blues” could be an 18th century blues standard emitted from a buried radio. On PERILS, Thomas Meluch and Kyle Bobby Dunn lock arms and together chart the upheaval in their lives to bridge the liminal gulf between the once-was and the soon-to-be.

New LP by Willamette has been announced! these guys released one of my favorite ambient albums in 2011 On Infraction records 'Echo Park'. Limited to 200 copies

..Chamber drone caught in perpetually Lynchian state of romantic, dream-fog rapture." - Spin

Willamette is the project of Joseph Yonker and brothers Davin and Kevin Chong. ‘Diminished Composition’ marks the third effort from the group. The melancholic precision and restrain parallel Willamette's music with other postclassical masters Arvo Pärt, William Basinski, Harold Budd, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, and Stars of the Lid. The preeminent ambient label Infraction Records released Willamette's debut LP 'Echo Park' in 2011 accompanied by some of the most beautiful packaging for a record we've ever seen. Willamette went on to score the film by Charles Lim Yi Yong ‘All the Lines Flow Out’ which saw release in 10” format on Own Records, titled ‘Always in Postscript’.

Beautiful! Love the artwork (back and front cover) that's shown on the label's bandcamp. Can't justify spending $30 on this right now, though. Maybe if there's some left closer to release date I'll end up grabbing one. Thanks for the heads up on this - the single really is lovely.

You listen to the leak yet, Hews? I'm curious to hear your thoughts. It doesn't feel as somber or melancholic as the first two - and maybe that's just the album art swaying my perception - but I think it's still very enjoyable.

I haven't yet. Been so busy with Uni classes these days I'm really falling behind on my listening...as you can see I'm not around much at the moment.

I and II were brilliant. Great mix of classical/electronic and drone/ambient so by your description he seems to have gone a little more electronic? I was hoping for a more minimal classical album this time around, but I'm honestly excited for anything. Like I said, love all his work, same with Subheim. I'll have to listen to both very soon.

For now, this has been stuck on my morning trainride listen for the past few weeks. What a wonderful and beautiful ambient/classical album, definitely check it out!
