thizzlepop
I purchased and have been using some sleeves on amazon: (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001716LMM/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I don't like them... they are slippery and too short so the vinyl is exposed at the top with the gatefolds. Recently, i purchased a vinyl from Germany, coming from someones personal collection it had a sleeve on it. This sleeve is everything i want in a sleeve, but the dude never replied to my email about the brand. Through my research i have concluded this sleeve has these specs... 6 mil polyethylene 12 5/8" x 12 7/8" Can someone help me find these?!? betawaves
www.ebay.com/usr/sleevie-wonder specifically these I haven't seen any that thick, but those are the ones I use and they're excellent quality. edit: ah, turns out they do have them at 6mil here
shaizada
These here are the best ones I've ever used and pretty much the only ones I buy anymore. Makes every album look like a million bucks. 5 mil. http://www.sleevecityusa.com/ultimate-outer-5-0-record-sleeve-p/9380.htm For inners, I use pretty much MFSL inner sleeves. There are better sleeves, but I just like the MoFi ones a lot. http://www.amazon.com/MOBILE-FIDELITY-MFSL-INNER-SLEEVES/dp/B001LQSFKY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1404023582&sr=1-1&keywords=mfsl+inner+sleeves For extra special records, I will use these inner sleeves: http://www.marecordings.com/main/product_info.php?products_id=169 gabpower
mesi
My guess is that he is using the ones from protected.de, a huge german online shop specialized in vinyl accessories. These should be the ones (I use them as well): http://protected.de/de/LP-Schutzhuellen-aus-PE1000 Unfortunately they don't send to the US though. slinch
Yeah, I use these as well, they are super thick. My cat tried to chew on some of my records and didn't make it through the sleeve. The only downside is that they're far from clear. Here's how much they kill the color of the artwork:
just a normal guy kevin
For inner sleeves, I use the Diskeeper Ultimate Audiophile sleeves. Pretty swanky.
shaizada
For inner sleeves, I use the Diskeeper Ultimate Audiophile sleeves. Pretty swanky. Are these inner sleeves better than the Mobile Fidelity inner sleeves? Thanks for any info!

I got sleeves off ebay which are great quality in thickness, however when they are stacked on the shelf it's hard to read the spines because of the crease/join. I'll post a picture tonight to try and explain more, but i was wondering if these ones are easy to read the spines on the records?

Yep, the downside to the thickness is that the join is exactly on the spine, making it pretty hard to read on some records.
Team Avatar
I use the 5.0 from sleeve city and I love them to death. they are absolutely beautiful and when every record is in the same sleeves the aesthetic of your entire collection goes up. I don't replace inner sleeves yet tho
Liimpan
Anyone know which ones Rough Trade uses? I got Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! from there and the sleeve is really thick and looks great.

just a normal guy kevin
I've used Sleeve City's 2.5 mil outer sleeves and liked them. They aren't cloudy like some sleeves and they are nice and smooth! I haven't used Sleeve City's 5 mil sleeves but those sound like they'd be super dope. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B1UML82/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00B1UML82&linkCode=as2&tag=invisibleli02-20&linkId=HAA74Y2FPUGAVRNH And here is the link to the DisKeeper Ultimate Audiophile inner sleeves I use. They are paper sleeves lined with that smooth rice paper-ish stuff on both the inside and out, and they have the center area visible on both sides so you can see the LP labels. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BD60BI6/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00BD60BI6&linkCode=as2&tag=invisibleli02-20&linkId=7FPY2EJPWNJDFDIB

Blaine
Thanks for all the awesome recommendations. I placed an order with Sleeve City for the 5.0 outer sleeves (x100) and the MoFi inner sleeves (x100). gabpower and Requiescat
Requiescat
You can't go wrong with the MOFI sleeves. I often grab them from SoundStageDirect because they have them rather cheap and always manage to get Media Mail shipping with them also. I think another site has them also where if you buy quantity they discount them further but I forget which. If I remember I'll post about it. Good to hear so many solid reviews of the 5.0 sleeves though. I was wondering about them myself.

They're firm and clear, so everything is easy to see and take in/out. I've never thought to buy inner sleeves, but I guess they'd actually be a good idea as well, especially for records that have thicker full inner sleeves that actually make the record harder to get out. shaizada
These are what I use. They're firm and clear, so everything is easy to see and take in/out. I've never thought to buy inner sleeves, but I guess they'd actually be a good idea as well, especially for records that have thicker full inner sleeves that actually make the record harder to get out. Some records come with fantastic printed inner sleeves. After washing the record, I usually just re-sleeve it in a MoFi inner sleeve and put the printed inner sleeves back in the album jacket. If the album comes with a nice poly-lined inner sleeve, I re-use that. Once the record is washed and sleeved, I keep the record outside, behind the album jacket and the whole sandwich goes into the 5mil outer jacket. Sometimes, I really really want to protect the album jacket. So I sleeve the album jacket sideways (i.e. slot opening to the right after sleeving), then the inner sleeve and record placed behind it (outside the sleeved jacket) and the whole shebang in the 5mil outer sleeve vertically (outer sleeve opening at the top). This way, I never get album jacket wear and tear. Everything is perfectly protected and it is easy to get to the record. Hope all this didn't confuse you! 8ight
