Shoegaze/Dream Pop Thread

I've been meaning to post this one as I picked it up not too long ago - "Thoughts & Language" by Dead Leaf Echo.

Very much in a 4ad/Creation vibe and the cover art was even done by Vaughan Oliver (v23)! Apparently a newer band out of NYC, but they sound like they were around in 1989-91.

Vinyl is in an edition of 250, with the first 100 printed in a colored opaque haze (whatever that is). I still haven't received my vinyl pre-order so I can't post pictures, but the stream/download is quite nice. Enjoy!

Anyone else see the Tamaryn news??

"I've made a new album with a new sound and new people. Rex will no longer be apart of the live show and therefore I will no longer play the songs we wrote together. His guitar sound was the epicenter of our band until now. Rex is inimitable and therefore irreplaceable. NEW ERA. See you there."

Sucks, but I totally understand. The two LP's are great but sound very similar, so I think they needed to make some drastic moves to make this third one more exciting. I'll be going to their last show with Rex here in LA, sad face. The question is.... Will Tamaryn still be a Shoegaze/Dream-pop band without Rex?

Interesting for sure!

My guess is she'll keep the dreamy vocals but with a more pop/electro/soundscape background? Find out what he's doing next when you see them!

This is my buddies project https://shindigs.bandcamp.com/

It's kind of more on the lofi pop/dreamy range with clean guitars but yeah he relocated to Korea from San Diego. He wrote all Clockart too https://aborealis.bandcamp.com/

Going to put out some of his stuff on cassette next year! Hope you can get into it <3

A few weeks ago I found an LP by Sleepy Eyes of Death who I hadn't heard of but it was numbered and cheap. Looked them up and I liked what I heard so I went ahead and bought it. (My first vinyl purchase before I even got a turntable :P ) Anyways when I looked them up I noticed they were referred to as Shoegaze which I had never heard of before but I think I may be a fan. :)

the pre-order for Molly Drag's Serbian Films 7" is now live up at Hellur Records site. it's a clear lathe cut 7" with a live version of the song as a b-side. I've heard there will be less than 50 produced, but not sure on the exact number.

Great song! This reminds me of Second Best by Pedro the Lion, which is one of my all time favorite songs. I know Pedro is classified more as slowcore, but if you all have any more recommendations like this/it post that shit 'cause I want to hear it.

Our oldest gave me a late Christmas present (he has college friend really into everything shoegaze - old and new) - a solo project from a guy in Nova Scotia called "We Need Secrets". Forgive me if already mentioned in the thread but the search here didn't show anything...

https://weneedsecrets.bandcamp.com/album/melancholy-and-the-archive

And suggested an older group, on hiatus, called Mira - especially the album "Apart" - A search also produced no results so hopefully these are 'new' to some folks like they were to me.

Many of the songs are on YouTube, but he said not on Spotify, Grooveshark, etc.  I liked what I heard so I picked up a CD for <$5 shipped.

That We Need Secrets album is great- the guy that plays drums on it is a forum member (I can't remember his name) and I think he also plays with Kestrels, who is also very much worth checking out-
