Derek™ Posted September 5, 2014 Share Posted September 5, 2014 The record's good, but it doesn't have the swagger or as much of the punk edge that their debut did. It's a melodic hook machine, and that's fine mostly because the bass still sounds gritty as fuck, but otherwise I may not be as huge of a fan. The riffs are on point and it is a poppy hit record. But I am loving it. The record is fun as hell. So much this. Or these, rather. I will say that I really don't care for that first single they released - and it sticks out like a sore thumb on the record - but all in all it left a great first impression on me. It could be because my expectations were realistic / low, which left plenty of room for it to impress me... but I have full intentions of blaring it at work tonight and seeing if it warrants a purchase. I saw them in '05 in Boston at the Middle East with Read Yellow and Controller Controller in Boston.
