My friends house burnt down. Lost everything she owned (including records)

Recommended Posts

You're right my entire house burning to the ground hasn't changed my life well that's just an ignorant statement. I'm sorry that happened to your friend but I am not trying to take advantage of anyone.

I keep reading this and I still don't understand it.

Are you saying your house burning down not changed your life?

I was being sarcastic. Of course it's changed my life. I lost everything I

Sarcasm doesn't always read well over the internet. Especially in threads like this.

I think the best solution here would be to refund the people who sent you money over the kickstarter and slowly back away from the keyboard.

If she said yes would you even believe her at this point.

Yes.

There no reason why this thread has to be a witch hunt. Whatever money was donated should be refunded and that can be the end of it.

I take her to be sincere and it do believe all of this....obvi.

just the tone got f'd to hell from the first OP on.

hard to recover from that. trust is all we have on here. dont fuck with it.

and whether she was aware the OP made this thread, she was tossed into it. thats my thoughts...and shes been handling it well.

Again I said whole heartily that I can tell Joe to do so. Money wasn't going to spent on records.

Also I said it was an ignorant statement, losing your animals and your house isn't easy whatsoever. Especially when firefighters couldn't let me go get them.

I feel terrible how everything has been worded no ones money was to be used on unneeded items.

I had no idea that people thought this was simply to re buy records. I work full time and had savings I apologize for wanting to use my money to buy a few records I cherished.

Bottom line I feel awful about this thread,

I think you're handling this very maturely and I truly believe that this entire scenario was just worded TERRIBLY.

Which is primarily why I felt really really taken advantage of.

I don't want my money back, if it's going to a good cause the best thing I can do is hand over my upmost amount of trust and believe you're going to give it to someone effected by this tragedy.

I can assure you that no ones money will be put towards records, it will be put towards my neighbors, food for everyone and some have heart traps. the construction crew ruined mine. I again apologize for how this was worded. Again anyone who wants money returned I'll get it back to you, I should have clarified in my own post I was using my savings.

He made his own kickstarter and robbed all these people because he had a suitcase in my house anyways. I am of course grateful for any help, but I didn't write this and I wouldn't spent people's money on things such as records. Stuff was worded wrong like I said.

Your ex seems like a real scumbag.

Because all I had left to my name was a beanie. I have a job I didn't come on here and ask for the money I simply asked for people who had my records. I had money due to family members help. I feel bad asking for things when I didn't even know about this thread today,. I have spent up my savings from my job buying my school books and my clothes. Of course anything will help and I will use all of the money to a good cause I can't refund anything but you can speak with joe about that, don't think that I'm trying to take advantage of any of you. So yes I feel awful. My ex created himself a kickstarter for himself to buy a hand tattoo with the money he received I'm not asking you guys to donate for records. Everything has been worded so awfully.

Ok listen there is no need to say this is a scam, and if you were wondering almost all of the money I receive I'm donating to my neighbor who has nothing to his name. I simply wanted to recollect some of my favorite records I lost.

So...which was it? You didn't know about this thread...or you're donating "almost all the money you receive to your neighbor"?

Two things, if you did and you just lied to us...fuck you.

AND

If you didn't know, it seems like maybe your friend was using your tragedy to finance his own spending.

I'm guessing it's the former.

Using your savings to replenish your record collections seems like a really smart use of your money when you have nothing to your name.

I may be alone here but I don't think it matters how the money get spent.

This assumes there was actually a fire in which this individual lost all their possessions, which I think has been established.

EDIT: Also assumes affected (effected?) individuals are the sole recipient of donations.

I didn't know this thread was on here really. I knew about poppunk wall but I never looked at this thread, heard someone on vc offered to help me but I never looked at the thread. I am giving most of the money like I stated to my neighbors and buying us food, and have heart traps since the construction crew destroyed mine in the tear down without them notifying me. Joe wouldn't take people's money to buy records, I don't know what's the deal with who's donated what. I again apologize if it made it seem like I'd spend people's money on buying records, I haven't touched any of it, just my savings.

I'm happy to donate money if it truly helps someone. Not if it just gets someone a record to spin whilst there are people everywhere who need it a lot more.

I can see she wasn't aware of this thread though, sounds like it truly was a tragedy and it also sounds like you've got a good family/smart with your savings. However for that reason it seems other people would need my money more.

Good luck getting back on your feet though.
