burntwolf
so, has anyone else noticed how every other show or movie (or like EVERY one), has a turntable and records in it now? (the last several years). is there a list somewhere of every movie that has vinyl/turntables featured? it just seems like i see it now in EVERYTHING...from star trek (reboot)...to...the one i love...to...transcendence... even that jason staham hitman movie the mechanic had a major plot point around his pro-ject TT blowing up. /spoilers. i can't think of anymore off the top of my head, but i keep noticing it a ton... i don't think there was a time when there were such prominence or plot or character points about people putting in an 8 track, cassette, or god forbid a CD. i'm sure there are exceptions. i guess movies w/ boom boxes featured were around a lot in the 80s. (star trek V: save the whales) EDIT: Movies/shows mentioned in this thread: Interesting, as I expected, seems like last 5 years has the bulk of the list... <1960s/1970s/80s (where you'd expect to see vinyl) flintstones (1960) addams family (1964) munsters (1964) a clockwork orange (1971) simpsons (1989) freaks & geeks (1999, set in 80-81) almost famous (2000, set in 70s) 1990s the rock (1996) jackie brown (1997) 2000s tomb raider (2001) 8 mile (2002) house, m.d. (2004) high fidelity (2000) malcolm in the middle (2000) 25th hour (2002) shaun of the dead (2004) modern family (2009) star trek (2009) whip it (2009) 2010s adventure time (2010) suits (2011) the mechanic (2011) looper (2012) seeking a friend for the end of the world (2012) 21 jump street (2012) argo (2012) the lords of salem (2012) august:osage county (2013) oblivion (2013) only lovers left alive (2013) warm bodies (2013) secret life of walter mitty (2013) maron (2013) the one i love (2014) transcendence (2014) dark knight

burntwolf
The Rock might have been the first 'modern' movie (way past vinyl heyday but long before 'resurgence') I remember where record collecting was mentioned in a non-record store movie as a pointed thing...record collecting was a pretty low point when that movie came out... skadaddy
From the visionary masterpiece "8 Mile" staring Marshall Mathers (AKA Eminem) and Kim Basinger: It's hard to see them in this picture, but I'm pretty sure they are a pair of Technique 1200's.
