I just finished listening to the stream and I really don't quite understand how anyone who enjoyed TEPB can dislike this. It sounds like a very good step forward (except for "Howl", admittedly, because that song is just awful). "Plastic Covered Furniture" is destined to be a song in regular rotation. And that riff throughout Plastic Covered Furniture just annoys me, and I cringed at the delivery of "like plastic covered furniture" at 2:30. Lately it seems like I feel that way about music that I end up enjoying, so I'll keep my judgments until I listen to the whole thing.
