That whole 'Deathconsciousness being one of my favorite albums ever so let's order ALL the variants and ship 'em overseas'-story is quite an exception on my end and I am so happy when they finally arrive for FUCKS sake and all those nightmares of destroyed records end and I never ever ever have to preorder anything ever again UGH. I have a couple others preordered (AFX, Tweedy, Nick Cave UK reissues), but I don't count those as "not yet delivered". It ebbs and flows... some weeks I get a package every day; other weeks nothing at all. I don't begrudge someone spending all of their spare income on a favorite hobby. I've been guilty of overspending myself in the past... I can't tell you how many times I ended up eating pasta and cereal all week because I dropped my last bundle of cash on music or video games. As long as my rent and bills were paid, I didn't care so much about food and entertainment budgets. That was 12 years ago though, so I was also single and living alone. I currently have 12 on the way, though I've been waiting months for the Brightside LP from BWM As far as budgeting goes, I'm fortunate to have two part-time-above-minimum-wage jobs that still allow me time to enjoy listening to my collection. As they come in I just move them out of the folder back to the general population. Everyone here is making me realize I really need to cut back though. I have around double the amount of orders as the next highest totals I've seen. I already stopped myself from impulse ordering 2 records, progress!
