segal-train
Parquet Courts announced a new album under their other moniker 'Parkay Quarts'. This has an planned release of December 2nd through Whats Your Rapture? Looks like they are going the way of The Men and releasing a folksy album. http://whatsyourrupture.bigcartel.com/product/parquet-courts-content-nausea-preorder-cd-lp-2xcd

dkrtz
I hope it is folksy because songs like Square States are some of my favorites from them
segal-train
I have never pre-ordered from WYR before. Do they normally do variants?
MD82
Curious about variants too. I know they had a split black and white 7" with Sunbathing Animal but I'm not sure how people got the Albanian Gunsmith version of that album.
dkrtz
^it was available through a specific retailer if I remember correctly
MD82
Thanks. Just did a quick search on here. Looks like it was Reckless Records.
apirk
I don't think reckless was the only one who got them, I think there were a handful of indie stores and I think they were online too.
j67ab
I bought mine on reckless, but it was for sale at several indie retailers.

segal-train
This album is super good. It has bit more of an established voice than the previous albums.
just a normal guy kevin
AMAZON pushed back the delivery date to Jan 2015. Were these also delayed for WYR pre-orders?
segal-train
I just got my copy today. It came with a /500 poster with the lyrics to "Uncast Shadow of A Southern Myth" as well as a picture on top. Very cool!
thepunkguy
so I guess there's a "test pressing" release of this that's on clear... if anyone has one, please contact me. i'm dying to trade or buy it. (also I got a alternate red cover of Albanian Gunsmith, if someone wants to trade for it)
just a normal guy kevin
So...that new Parquet Courts EP...yeah... Who else who has already received it is also returning it ASAP?
youspinmeround
What's wrong? Seeing them tonight and was going to pick it up
just a normal guy kevin
It's one 45 second song and then 8 instrumental tracks of droning noise and repeating loops with no melody, vocals, or conventional build. You might like it if you're into noise or experimental music but it was pretty crappy that this was advertised as a PC EP with no mention of the drastic genre change or even the all instrumental nature of it. youspinmeround
Well you just saved me some money
apirk
Pretty glad I read this before buying it
just a normal guy kevin
In none of the promotional material does it mention that this is an experimental instrumental EP. There is also nowhere to preview the music or hear any of the songs, despite it being released today. Here are two very different reviews, one glowing and one poor. http://diymag.com/2015/11/13/parquet-courts-monastic-living http://undertheradarmag.com/reviews/parquet_courts_monastic_living_ep It's been a long time since I blindly bought an LP from a band I love and excitedly unwrapped it and let my turntable be the first place I listened to it, so this was a huge bummer and why I care enough to whine about it on the internet. I also figure other people who are big PC fans would want at least a heads up. If you like experimental music, you might really like this but, if you want a Parquet Courts EP, beg your friend to let you hear their digital download before you drop money on this. youspinmeround
Yea I couldn't mind much on it at all. Glad I didn't waste the money on it tonighy. Thanks man
mucusoffmybrain
Did it come with a digital download code? I'm interested in hearing it. I can't find it online anywhere.
just a normal guy kevin
It did but I don't know if using it would void my refund with Amazon, which I already got. It has to leak sometime soon though.
