So, ever since lexicondevil introduced me to Center Of The Sun's "Machine Gun" (and then they promptly disbanded), I've been intrigued by Ally Hoffman's vocals and what would become of the disintegration. Lex even proposed her as a suitable vocalist after Kristina quit right before Whirr's US tour sans vocalist. (Great call, she's tough, a Carolinian TarHeel, with a smooth voice).

Well, something has materialized and they're calling themselves MTHR, and you can listen to a track here:

Immediately smacked of True Widow, with some ethereal and psych thrown into the stone/gloomgaze tempo..

7" EP out soon they say.

Speaking of Texas and Psych, there is this band called "The Dry Season" that not many are into. Psych-postrock-shoegazey, and they are finally putting out some new material, called "Sentient Planet." I really like their first album, and the new one is eventually going to get some wax treatment per their FB page.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that picked up on them. Here's a couple of write-ups I've done on MTHR and two cover songs they've posted.

I'm glad she didn't join Whirr as they are boring me now. I can't wait for this!

Very cool. "Just Like Honey" makes complete sense. That is basically the sound of COTS with a female singer. "White Wedding" was a stretch, but it strangely worked really well.
