zdkaiser
Just received my MOV copy of Ancient Melodies. Solid 180g pressing, no surface noise, sounds great, completely flat record... quite pleased overall. Included poster is nothing to speak of. Super thin. Eliminator Jr.
Yeah that posters about to rip apart if you just take a quick look at it. Useless. But the pressing itself is flawless! niblips
ziggyangeldust
This album is so fantastic!! for me my favorite by Built to Spill is Keep It like a Secret!! I hope the new BtS album is great!
kidamnesiac
Original press has a newsprint poster. Presumably, they were attempting to recreate that. Glad that more people are able to own this fantastic LP now!
paynegretzky
Just got my copy and agree with the above statements. It sounds great, nice and clean. Before the MOV press this was one of my white whale records. I still need TNWWL to complete my BTS LP collection, but I'm not going to hold my breathe. Cheers to a great record though! synapsistapped
Just got the MOV pressing in the mail from ImportCDs - it was about $27 shipped. As stated above, great pressing - quiet, flat - definitely beats the original, which I also own. The poster included is an exact replica of the poster from the original UP issue on newsprint paper. niblips and PRINCE
ExtraFox
1972 are reissuing this on friday (don't think it's part of BF, but I haven't combed through the thread). Available from Amazon, CCMusic, Bullmoose, Music Direct and other places I assume.
youspinmeround
Stick with MOV vs 1972

Thanks for the tip - this is the only one missing from my LP collection, save for Ultimate Alternative Wavers which isn't required for me. I have a pressing of The Sound's From the Lions Mouth pressed by 1972 and it sounds really great. I had nothing to compare it to though. The MOV press is still available at a good price: http://www.importcds.com/ancient-melodies-of-the-future/8718469535989

Seems like a safer bet, we already know that sounds good. I'll have to re-listen to my copy of From the Lions Mouth.

I bought the tv personalit is painted world lp from 1972. pressing quality is not that good . I have never had an mov issue
paynegretzky
Not adding new here, but solidifying the vote for the MOV press. Spun it many times since buying it last year. Solid sounding pressing. Paid 28$ CAD when it came out, which is cheap as hell for records online, shipped to Canada.
jeromium
I just purchased an MOV copy on Discogs - miGht as well snag it for $18 instead of waiting for a potentially inferior issue to come out. Reason I never picked this up locally is they're selling for $39-50 and I always assumed it was out of print. Just 2 days ago I checked one shop and they had it for $39. Another one has it for $50, and an original for $75 or something. Also wanted to report back on my 1972 copy of From the Lions Mouth - I played it in full Wednesday and it sounded really good, as I remembered. No complaints.
