Record Store Day 2015 (4/18/15)

Recommended Posts

Some stuff up at Dr. Strange, they're doing a sale for 15% off at midnight but I grabbed a couple things in hopes to better my chances.

Search 'RSD' on their site:

If this works out then I'm hopeful I can get the Pity Sex 7" and the Tim Kasher/Chris Farren 7" tomorrow from somewhere else online. If anyone comes across these online or in store and can hook it up I'll love you forever.

These guys get bonus points for apologizing for the $13 Poison Idea 7" in the description.

I'd rather have the 10" 78 replica than the 7" 45 if I were to be paying for that elvis song in any form. I think it's cool. Nobody seems to know yet if it's cut standard groove like the original surely would have been. I'm hoping that's the case but I have my doubts

Words out that the pink vinyl basement tapes has an MSRP of $99

Not certain how it was cut. But it's a replica down to the scuffs and scratches on the record

I should have asked how early do people usually line up because this is my first RSD. Last year's black Friday rsd there was snow and it was freezing so I was second in line 10 mins before the store opened up

Completely depends on what you want, what your store gets, and how popular your store is. I've generally been able to fare pretty well going 3-4 hours early at a mildly popular store and getting what I want, but I'm really not interested in the extremely limited stuff.

This is pretty awesome to raise money for a good cause at Strictly Discs.

Be the FIRST IN LINE on Record Store Day!

Every year, the line outside the shop on the morning of Record Store Day seems to start forming earlier and earlier. We've walked up to see camping chairs, sleeping bags, thermoses full of soup (or something else), and lots of layers. We know there's no stopping the line, so we figured why not turn that rabid dedication into a fund raising opportunity for charity?

This year, we'll be collecting donations for one of our favorite local charities, the Second Harvest Food Bank, as we raffle off a guaranteed FIRST spot in the line. A minimum donation of $5 will enter you in a drawing for the catbird seat. The winner will be allowed to enter the store and shop for 10 minutes before we officially open at 7AM. A $5 donation will receive 1 entry, a $10 donation will receive 3 entries, and a $20 donation will receive 7 entries. The best part, with each dollar donated, Second Harvest can purchase 3 meals for those in need within our community.

Donations will be accepted up until Friday, April 17 at 5PM; after that we will draw a ticket at random - the winning number will be announced Friday night via our store email and on social media (follow us on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram).

Winner must present winning ticket at 6:30AM on Saturday morning. To make a donation, stop by during business hours with cash/check. To find out more about Second Harvest, click here!
