I will certainly agree with you that later albums show true progression and amazing talent as it flourished, but that never dismisses the validity of where they start from to me. It has arguably his best song lyrically ("Oh My Sweet Carolina"), plus other great Americana/Alt. Obviously, to each their own. But I'm surprised that anyone could be bored by this record. Its probably my favorite of all his releases. In other news, I saw him here in Oregon Saturday night. And he ruled. Played all the hits, and really upped the energy/volume level, even on his slow songs. Some of the tracks were reinterpreted (especially the Love is Hell songs). It was an awesome show from start to finish. Norwegian Metal version of 16 Days!!
