Domiendr
Man...a whole lot of damages in going through these today. What do you guys do with damaged records? Are they just thrown away (would be a shame) or are they repackaged?
birdwell
What do you guys do with damaged records? Are they just thrown away (would be a shame) or are they repackaged? Up to the label, most get sent back to the label for them to do whatever they wish with...we do whatever the label asks us to do with them essentially In most cases the vinyl is fine but the jackets are dinged up....and if we send dinged up LPs out yo stores, they usually return them, because their customers won't buy an LP at retail price that looks worse than most used LPs on their shelves....especially if the margins are small (most of the time) The bigger issue that results from this is inflated prices on LPs to make up for the costs.....if Plants and Lables packed and shipped LPs properly the price of LPs could be lower, because they wouldn't have to deal with all of the wasted money on damages. The way these LPs were sent to us the bottom layer ended up having the damages because they were shipped on a palet laying flat instead of vertically and the bottom ones got crushed....but we also had quite a few where they were clearly mishandled going into the cartons as the cartons were fine and somewhere in the middle was a damaged LP. Labels, Managers, and Plant employees all seem to have less of a grip on how to handle and pack LPs as opposed to specialty warehouses dealing with vinyl and record stores......it's a really big bummer
captainaldous
Got this in earlier today. Sounds pretty decent. No inner, as stated before, but that's fine. I don't think any copy of this ever came with one. But hot damn. This record is beautiful:
